Yeah, but now that we've won on foreign soil, in a real competition, against the European and African champs, somebody's going to start saying "but we can only beat teams that speak Spanish...and Arabic.."

this team is on a roll. this tourney has been so great for the team and bradley.

great move by bradley to keep demerit in middle, put boca at LB, and play a 4-4-2 with Davies up top. would anybody rather have had ching play? LOL

my ? is who starts for m bradley in the final, i suspect it will be benny but it is a shame that we cannot start the exact same lineup

    We're #9? [R]

So. That win by two goals over a team that used to be 304 points ahead of the USA means 64 elo rating points for the USA. The USA team moves up past France and Croatia to 9th place at 1864, a few points behind 8th place Argentina and not all that many points behind Italy.

Brazil moves up to #1 in the world in the eloratings --- temporarily.

Wow, pretty cool that in a few day's time the U.S. goes from embarrassment to beating Spain. Spain were coming like a dozen freight trains during the second half, but all credit to the U.S. for standing their ground. Great win - not only because it puts us in to the finals, but because a lot of these young players now have first hand experience of what takes to knock off one of the elite.

with Davies pace they cannot focus solely on Altidore

Donovan and Dempsey don't have to carry the sole burden

the rest of the midfield and defense can stay compact and organized

LD is a god when it comes to total match fitness ......

and between Howard and Onyewu you have two mammoths in the back.

    Now THAT was fun!!!

In the immortal words of the late great Al Mcguire: "That Altidore kid is an aircraft carrier!!!!" Which goes with Davies, the Jet.:)

We might have found our best defense.

For the fourth game running LD plays great.Gritty effort by the other midfielders.

And Timmy has his Keller/Friedel moment.

COPA CONFEDERACIONES | 0-2 Y ADIÓS DE 'LA ROJA' A LA FINAL
Estados Unidos derriba la leyenda de España

    MIGUEL A. HERGUEDA

Mexico - If you want to see how a real good and confident men's soccer team takes a defeat like men - keep an eye on Spain's reaction. No excuses, no BS.

I said that about Landon in th 85th minute. He still running like a gazelle. Dempsey in the other hand was gassed. lol. When Landon passed the ball in open space, Dempsey was just walking...

Not close. US v. Portugal was WAAAAAYYY sweeter as was the win against Mexico to go to the quarters.

    It's just the Confederations Cup.

I predicted we'd lose by 3... glad to be totally wrong. The first half was really good, especially the first 30 minutes. When we mature in the offensive 3rd, we'll be really really good. Today we could've had more than two. I still think I'd rather have seen a torres for altidore than casey, someone to buzz around with speed.

Anyways, the played with the heart of Frankie today!

That red card on Bradley is killing me, I think we had momentum to win this thing, we are Greece in the 2004 Euro.

Nonsense. I think the refs have been pretty consistent all tournament that dangerous, 2-footed lunges that make contact and are late will be red-carded. As soon as Bradley did that, I knew it was red. He's a very good, almost great player, but that was really stupid.

My brother joined in to watch the game in the second half. First thing he asked me was, "Are there any red cards?" I said, "not yet." It was bound to happen. Why do we have bonehead center mids. Yet again. Michael Bradley just ruined the perfect evening with that careless tackle. Don't leave your feet!! Now, he is out of the Final. But, I'll take this sweet victory.
