Agree. I'd give it to Mapp. I was pleased with his overall play and his goal and shot on goal were outstanding. It's the Mapp of old. Now, if he could only play like that every game.

Nyarko played well, too. Made some good runs and crosses.

    Banner had another terrible match.

Conde and Segares had good games. And I was surprised by Washington's play: Not as bad as I last remember. Busch did well.

And Rolfe had two great chances that he muffed in the few minutes he was in. Why wasn't he brought in sooner? With that heat, I'm sure the boys were gassed.

I'm now getting slightly excited about this tournament. Keep it up guys.

Huh? He kind of disappeared in the 2nd half, but he was great in the first I thought.

Saw McBride in the stadium club before the match he was with his wife and I said to him "taking the night off huh". He said yeah.
Nice goal by Mapp although pass was off a defender. It seems except for Blanco and a few others we don't get too many perfect last passes.

It's possibly to have three teams on 6 points after the group stage is done. We have to wait for the second result of the night.

Well correct me if i'm wrong, but Chivas has lost twice - therefore they can't get 6 points. ehh?

No, but if the current results hold in the Saint Louis del Mud Hut/Tiggers game and we lose to Tiggers and Mud Hut beats Chivas, then we have a 3 way tie

Agreed. That run he had before the goal when he made something out of absolutely nothing was fantastic.

Meanwhile, Mapp was his usual lazy-ass self, dogging it all game. The reason he scored, ironically, was becasue he was too damn lazy to make the run he should have! I'll take the goal, though.

As the guy sitting next to me said after the goal, "He (Mapp) so doesn't deserve that goal. Banner deserves that goal". I couldn't have said it better myself.

I stand corrected, something happened to my brain, I’ll backtrack and try to find where I dropped it.

Was at the came pretty fun game the second half got a bit chippy Curtian running down to field just to push a fire player like a girl, then Conde bruisng through everyone like an enforcer from Cali would. All this happend of course after Marcsh came on in the 2nd half. But for me the fun part was after the game seeing Calen Carr in the stands with about 5 or 6 women around him god damn is the curly hair but the ladies love him, Noble was around I think just trying to get his castoffs!

Good match, especially considering the number of second-stringers out there. The way we dominated play, I think we actually deserved to win by more than one goal... anyways, on to my random thoughts:

-Both Banner and Washington faded badly, but I thought they put in good performances. Banner saw a lot of the ball and was constantly trying to create, and Washington defended well and even showed some drive to get forward (still needs to work on that a little more though). Good stuff from both, especially considering their lack of games.

-On the flip side, I'd like to see a little more from Baggio and Dimitrov. Both had some flashes, and I know they too haven't seen too many minutes, but both dissapeared for long stretches. Particularly in a game where we are dominating the ball, you'd like to see your CAM and your target man more involved. Good experience for them though

-The whole back line was good, but Conde was an absolute beast. He seemed to win everything. Nyarko was the same on the other end of the pitch. Didn't get a goal, but worked very hard, held the ball up well, made incisive passes and generally caused problems for the Chivas defense. Showcased some speed too ;)

Overall, I know the SuperLiga isn't extremely important, but it's nice to see us play better after 3 straight MLS losses. Let's keep it up!

SuperLiga is extremely important, as is the USOC. Nyarko can't finish, and I did not get Ward for Dimitrov, when Rolfe came in he had an immediate impact, why not Rolfe for Dimitrov? But whatever, we won and it was fun.

Whoever said Banner had a bad game is just flat out wrong. He was really effective beating players on the dribble and getting crosses off. I do think he became less involved as the game went on (Pappa really took over the midfield attacking after coming on), but his first 60 minutes were good. Not stellar, but good.

Mapp had a pretty good first half, though he still seems to consistently misjudge the flight of passes played to him in the air. And he's still a complete frustration to watch. He'll make some really good plays, and then some incredibly bone-headed ones.

I want to say Nyarko had a great game, because he really did a lot of good things, but he also missed a few chances he could have buried. The header that missed the post by inches was a pretty difficult one, though, based on the direction the ball was coming from. His speed was giving the chivas defense problems all night.

Pappa is a lot of fun to watch, especially coming in as a late game sub playing against tired (and arguably, slow) defenders.

The disappointments to me were Dimitrov and Husidic, but I can't pass judgement on them based on just this game and the few minutes they've had in other games this season. Husidic just seemed incredibly uninvolved in anything that the team put together offensively (though I'll have to watch the game again . . . it was difficult to tell at the stadium).

I thought the 2nd half was more entertaining than the first. The game did tighten up when chivas brought on Marsch and Galindo, but we were clearly the better team in both halves. Oh, and whoever it was that miraculously prevented chivas from scoring after that pass across our 6-yard box saved the 3 points.

We should have won by more goals but we still won, and very deservedly so. We *dominated* this match. Chivas USA had a few deep runs and pretty good chances, but we were in their final 3rd almost the entire game, and we had like 5 strong chances to score.

'Twas Washington. Who I thought had a very solid game. I'm now adding all the alcohol back into my system that was 'sweated out' in the first fifteen minutes alone... :) Sheesh go from a pretty cool spring to Houston-like heat and humidity...

Honestly I think our 'B' guys looked pretty darn good tonight. This could've been 3-0 maybe 3-1 our favor.

I've been open about not really caring about this tourney but if we're in it I suppose let's win it and bring home some hardware for the trophy case.

Washington-impressive,showed that he can play RB with more given mins...needs some work on defense and cross ball...great save! hats off...

Conde- Lion!...when he dumped Galindo and dashed out ,i thought that was crazy but i was wrong ,,he is an intelligent player and read the ball very well..I would like to see him at MF at some point..

    Baggio - not ready yet..

    Dimitrov-needs more playing time...

Sega - as always ..great play...

Chivas- Thuggish as always... disappointed with Curtin...he could've argued with Pappa instead of acting like a jerk...they scuffle in almost every game...what is Preki feeding them?

Bad crosses, dribbling the ball out of bounds, don't make up for one good run.

We're lucky that Galindo didn't score, though Washington's save was amazing.

Also, I realize that Chijndu is a funny name, but the announcers damn near soiled themselves over it.

Sorry, meant to say that it just isn't as important as the MLS season. Obviously I'd still love to win the trophy though

Got any inside tips on the next powerball drawing?

There were maybe 4,000 people inside Toyota Park when the 7pm game kicked off. Then 6,000 by halftime and 8,000-9,000 at the end of the 1st game. Then it started to thin again as people left the 2nd game early.

    Official attendance: 9,126

Here's a tip from me to you about Saturday: If someone gives you over/under odds on 10,000 attendance, take the under.

There will also be a carnival happening in the lots on Saturday, that has to be good for some sort of bump.

Maybe word of mouth is going to help as well. I know that I've watched two entertaining and satisfying Fire matches in Superliga. If any Fire fan has the bonus ticket, the time, or the money, I'd recommend attending.

I'd also add that I've enjoyed the last two Fire in the Superliga matches more than I enjoyed the Club America, Cracovia, or Everton matches.
