Thank you for your hard work ! Good news ! "Someone" from the FO just talked to me by phone, and told me that the FO staff has been working to get the banner back ! They actually have the banner in their possession and will give it back to me next home game. I personally want to apologize to everyone in the FO,specially the people I mentioned their names on different thread. I'm sorry ! please accept my humble apology. Two days ago, I felt as a Quakes fan alone, with no protection, with no one to come forward and defend my right as a customer and specially as a fan. Today the history is different, I know for a fact that, we have a fine group behind us willing to kill their weekend, to make sure everything is OK. Thank you FO Note: as a sugestion of one of our mods, I have started this new thread, to let everybody know that the issue has been solved with a very happy ending
I still think it was a dick move to confiscate your (essentially benign) banner. I can't for the life of me see why that was viewed as offensive...
To find that out, you'd have to do a psychological study into the mindset of Oakland Coliseum security. A very dark region indeed.
Don't apologize. They acted in the wrong, and you called them out on it. No need to beg for forgiveness.
I agree. My wife and I laughed out loud when we saw it. In fact, I thought it an example of a great banner - one that cleverly makes it point humorously WITHOUT being in bad taste!
The banner will soon be part of Earthquakes history. proud smurf has graciously offered to donate it to History San Jose as part of its Soccer Legacy Collection. I envision it on display someday in a special exhibit on the California Classico along with other artifacts like the Landon Donovan pinata head, and a floor-to-ceiling photo of a jubilant Rodrigo Faria lying on his backside.
