No. If this weren't the Confederations Cup and there were 7 guys on the bench instead of 12 I wouldn't even have Beasley on the bench.

I voted no. I'm not sure why we'd put in the Dave Matthews Band against Spain. Isn't he from South Africa anyhow?

I was driving behind a car recently which had a license plate holder reading "Condemn Genocide".

While I agree wholeheartedly with that stance, I did wonder how many people really needed to be told that. I mean, besides the occasional despot or dictator, isn't everybody on that page?

I mention it now, because it's the one thing that came to mind that was a bigger no-brainer than "Don't play DeMarcus Beasely Against Spain".

No. There's no reason Beasley should play in this tournament or the Gold Cup. He has burned that bridge with ghastly play. As far as I'm concerned, I'd give him his gold watch now and send him back to whichever club will have him. And don't call us ... we'll call you!

It's time to play players that deserve a chance and bring SO MUCH MORE to the table -- like Adu, Torres, Rogers, Davis. They have been working hard and patiently have been waiting for their opportunity. They deserve it so much more than putting an out-of-form, poor player like Beasley back on the field ...

i've always liked him, but no.

he's looked bad for a long time now. whether it's injuries or bad form or whatever. he shouldn't be out there. and i'm afraid to say, i dunno if he should even be on the squad in 2010. and that pains me to say it.

After all this, watch him go and score two goals and get an assist against them. ;)

I hope this wasn't done seriously. Its sad that with as good as DMB has been for the US that his career seems to be about over at 27, but thats what happens to speed guys with no other real skill.

I will be ecstatic if he somehow finds a second wind at Rangers and plays like he use to, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm guessing he's back in MLS after this season.

Definately not, although I do think some people are being a bit too harsh on him. He's been badly out of form, and shouldn't be playing for the national team until he regains form, but I wouldn't totally write him off. He has been one of the better players for the US overall if you discount the last year or so, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him return to his old self sometime before the World Cup. But he should be doing that with his club (if they'll even play him?), not US games and definately not games like Spain...
