    I prefer Song over both.

Very little news regarding transfers today, guess the "journalists" decided to take a long weekend.

Vermaelen might be having his medical today, but that is about it.

I know some people don't rate him but at between 8.5 and 12.7 million pounds, I think he'd be a good buy. Seems a bit more in the Flamini mold that other players to whom we've been linked but with an excellent foot. Be nice to have a threat to score from set pieces other than just RvP.

I also like that he can play a few different roles.

But we've been linked with him so many times in the past and the rumours of his departure have been infalted and deflated with such regularity over the last few years that I'd be surprised if this is a real story and not just a lazy journalist looking through a list of old stories for something to revive on a slow day.

With Milan looking at E'to and Dzecko [sp?], I seriously doubt that there is a big market for Ade so I doubt we'll be buying any strikers old enough to drink legally.

I wouldn't mind if Ade left for 20M+, but I'd be fine with our current strike force as it is.

In the quest for silverware, we already have a squad that has good experience together, but has yet to hit its peak. Getting Arshavin, Rosicky, Eduardo fully assimilated would go far in getting the team to reach its full attacking potential.

Getting a new striker (like that guys from Bordeaux) would require that player to adjust over another 6-12 month period. With our current crop of players hungry for success, we simply don't have time for that.

I would be just fine with focusing on CB and DM (but that's been the story for the past couple seasons, hasn't it?)

I'm with aphex on this one. We need to inject some steel into the middle of the pitch. That's great news about Vermaelen and I'd love to see Melo wearing the white sleeves next year.

    Hooray! A signing who isn't a teenager.

Now if a new age version of Vinnie Jones can be brought it, Arsenal will be set.

This story however might be true. Miguel Veloso has become somewhat of a nuisance at the club for Sporting. Sporting are now looking to blood a youngster who plays in the same general position as Veloso, so it appears that Sporting might sell him at around that price.

FWIW The Times fleshes out the Chamakh rumours a bit. We're supposedly going to snatch him away from Fulham. The ability to take a baseless idea and mold it until it bears the marks of reality is, of course, central to the fiction writer's craft.

If we sell him, we will need another CB.

+ Vermaelen - Toure will just leave us right back where we started. With both Ivorians seeming to be heading for the door we should look for one highly rated young player who can cover both spots, and use Song as a backup defender (since we should be getting someone new in midfield).

Damn, losing kolo would be a huge blow. He's our best defender and a central figure in the team. I'd rather have him than vermaelan.

Perhaps being rejected by "Beyonce" will be good for Ade then.

If Kolo goes, here are a few things that I want to happen:

If Kolo goes it must be to Man City.
Richards must be included in any deal.
    Eboue has to go.
We must sign an experienced CB (older and more games than Vermalen, maybe hijack Carvalho?).

I think that would strenghten the squad and give us loads of options all accross the back considering Vermaelen has bee used as a LB.

If Kolo goes this season we face loosing Gallas and Silvestre next season which leaves us back to square one in the experience game. Whatever we may think about Silvestres ability when you hear the likes of Gibbs and Bartley praising him for helping them, his years as a pro cant be under estimated. Its not just this season we have to look at but we loose a hell of a lot of experience this time next year....

Hope its all coherent, im gone past tipsy.

PS, if Kolo doesnt go then im happy too.

    Dear Scally,

Please do not ever include Gallas and Silvestre in the same sentence again.

altho I do agree with what you are saying... its the same issue that happened with central mid this year...

Man Toure is the heart and soul of this team. I love the guy.. We really shouldn't get rid of him since he's still 28 and he still has few good years left in him. If needed too get rid of Senderos and Djouro.

looks like Kolo wants to leave more than anyone wanting to get rid of him, with him handing in that transfer request and all...
