How much of the kiddie-pool punch did you have before the game?
I only had 3 cups so I didn't see any lights go out :)

I have heard other people ask about it, so maybe it happened - hell I watched Pontius miss the net, turned to make sure the drummer had beer and chant to the crowd behind me to get them going, then turned around and people were lining up to take a PK - I thought I was hallucinating at that time too :D

The weak match Saturday helps people forget that he had a quite strong match against Jersey in the center of the field..

That's the problem. I didn't have anything. I made it just in time for the women's game and didn't drink anything with magic juice. The people around me did think there was something wrong with me as I stared up at the lights for a minute or two while the game was going. I told them lights had gone out, but they were convinced something was wrong with me. Perhaps I was abducted by aliens during the match. I was walking a little funny afterward and have had some bad headaches since.

He needs to play in the center of the field. He is most comfortable and contributes the most in the middle. Even when playing the wing he drifted centrally for a year before Soehn beat it out of him. Of course that puts him on the bench behind Gomito. Our best eleven is not the same as our best starting eleven.

After Wicks, I think Pontius had the biggest impact on the match. Consider this:

    * Drew 3 yellow cards on the opposition.

    * Earned a PK that was converted.

    * Earned a FK that was converted.

    * Made a pass that led to a 1-on-1 with the keeper. Should have been converted.

Just wanna say Great Game guys, the only complaint is I hope you guys get a new stadium, or try to keep away supporter groups in the lower lever where they sell beer , and not to have to walk miles to get a beer. The Stands in the upper tank were really bad, Plantation growing and Bugs galore, mountain goats . Security escorted us to the main entrance and Ran. But there were no issues. See you guys in August, where you guys will have your own section and beer and food vendors near by. Cheers!

They used to keep a beer cart up there - hell, they even did it for the metros fans, and since they keep the beer even further from us when we visit there, they do not deserve to even be let out of their 400 section to use the bathroom. You guys deserve to, at the very least, be treated better than metro fans for Garber's sake.

It was a pleasure to sing toward you Sat night, I was happy some folks made it out. Always good to have away support - especially when we win and can sing "hey, hey, good-bye" :D

In the past they've treated folks in the upper deck wilderness much better; I dunno why they don't now. But you're right about relative provisioning -- I was at Toyota Park for our away match last August, and was very impressed (and a bit envious).

You should have been with the Fire fans in section 201. There were more of them than you guys in the deck, and they got full service and a decent view.

There presence was pretty annoying though.

    MR. CHANG a request

It was great meeting you this weekend Mr. Chang (again).

I kindly ask that our away fans who sit in the 400 level be provided with at least one BEER cart. Chicago, New England and Toronto (and maybe Columbus) all provide decent traveling support and should be rewarded with a beer salesman in the 400 level.

PLease have SOdexho continue to ignore the NEw York Red Bull support if and when they travel (unlikely). They deserve NOTHING.

    Fire Match Wrap-up

    1. I cannot recall the last time DC United showed so much tenacity and intensity for 90 minutes, without Ben Olsen on the pitch.
    2. I am always concerned that rookies who do well in MLS will hit a wall at week 20 or so. With all the punishment Wallace and Pontius were taking ... I definitely have that concern. Of course, how many rookies need that kind of 'attention'.
    3. John Thorrington ... how did that guy finish the game?
    4. Brian McBride needs to make sure those plates in his head don't move around and leave that frat-boyish grin frozen on his face. Why has he left the warrior in England and brought back a propensity for flopping?
    5. I cannot wait for DC's next match. This team is great to watch. Even if they don't execute the way they should (Quaranta, Fred, etc).
    6. Quaranta has never worked harder on the defensive side of the ball, but man does he play small for a guy his size.
    7. Burch looked like a bona fide defender on a number of occasions ... reading the game and letting it come to him.
    8. Wicks dominated the area late in the game. When is the last time (against a team with wide players like Fire) you have had no fear when a DC opponent keeps getting corner kicks?
    9. Good to get to know you again, Gomito!
    10. The Fire didn't have Mr. White ... or Soumare. But DC got it done without Emilio (who probably needed the break anyway) and Olsen.

    Re: Fire Match Wrap-up

The absence of Mr. White ruined a side bet I had with my son. I had the "under" on within 60 seconds of entering the match, Mr. White would be writhing on the ground like a fragmentation grenade went off at his feet.
