There was actually quite a big scandal in Germany last year because Lidl had installed secret cameras - allegedly to prevent shoplifting but they were also used to watch employees. Article in English
And mine: Working, for you! *waves* (No, I won't delete my above post just because Smulan was faster. )
Ah, Jenson, this bit from the article reminded me of you: "Above all there is a fascination with lavatory behaviour." You could be a natural Lidl spy! Nor should you - you provided a link to an article and I didn't.
Reputedly they don't have a relationship. And it seems like Frisk doesn't have a "career", besides some minutes in the second half of what I'm sure was a very important match. But it's quite amazing how she's dropped off the radar . Maybe "Swedish WPS Barbie" is an easier lot for her to bear?
Actually playoffs are a good way to increase interest in Bundesliga and to get a higher attendance. The Bundesliga clubs don't want it though. Silvia Neid wants to start preparing for the WWC in early March, the clubs of course don't want it since the contracts run until June 30th and they'll have to pay their players for four further months without having any game in the meantime. Since DFB is caring for the NT only you can expect that the season will end in March anyway.
Silly. The national cup competitions i.e. DFB-Pokal are nothing but play-offs (aka tournament with knock-out stages). No reason to change the system as we got both: A league + playoffs side by side. I seriously doubt that you generate additional interest by such a measure.
When does nationwide media cover Women's Bundesliga? Only at the last matchday if it's a close situation, otherwise a small statement on who is champion after the last matchday. What do they cover nationwide? DFB Cup semifinal and final plus UEFA Cup games. All playoff-like knockout stages. Attendances? The good clubs draw like 2000 in the average in the league. Event games: UEFA Cup Final 28.000, seriously interested people in the DFB Cup final 10.000 (will be higher in Cologne next year), UEFA Cup semifinal in Duisburg something like 3.000 to 3.500. Whether you like it or not: if you want to increase the interest in women's soccer you got to care for being more attractive for media and attendance. You rarely ever get such an exciting situation before the last matchday, so the interest this year was exceptional. But you got to care for creating more of these exciting moments. Playoffs are one way. And playing with the calendar year is another example (full media interest at the end of October while in May/June you are one of hundreds of leagues to finish) Question rather is if a good attendance is wanted though. By wanting all the men's Bundesliga clubs in women's Bundesliga it is clear that the already low attendance will even get lower.
In a poll of DFB.de the coaches of women Bundesliga gave their votes for MVP, All-Star-team and rookie of the year. http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=500014&no_cache=0&tx_dfbnews_pi1[showUid]=18675&tx_dfbnews_pi4[cat]=84 MVP 1. Micol's two favourite goalkeepers, if I'm not mistaken . Interesting that they have Bresonik listed in defence. Apart from three matches at the end of the season at centre back, she played in midfield this season.
Well. Yes. And no. I was a bit shocked to see that they got the same number of votes. I like Angerer because she is, well, Angerer. Brunner is probably the goalie I've seen most often live on the field since last autumn (apart from Angerer, I guess - I'd have to count). Which makes it a bit easier for me to assess her than just from matches on TV or even DFB-TV highlights. She is good... but I've also seen her do some peculiar things. And I don't mean only the Freiburg Schuhplattler. Oh, and is this the first year that Prinz hasn't been in the all-star team, or has this happened before?
Not quite Frauen-Bundesliga, but almost: Potsdam wins the junior championship against Duisburg. Nice goals, penalties and an interview with young Potsdam and international U17 goalie "Felix" Sarholz on DFB-TV
Linda Bresonik is staying with Duisburg for another three (!) years, ie until 2012. That's even one year beyond the WWC.
Potsdam played 2-2 in a test match against a men's team. More pictures. Apparently Anja Mittag had to come off injured but one of the pictures shows her still standing at the end of the match, so I hope it's nothing that will stand in the way of her joining the national team for its upcoming EURO preparations.
Well, well, who would have thunk that I'd be able to post about Sara Thunebro in this thread and be on topic? Frankfurt are happy that they were able to grab her, since she also had "attractive offers from other European and American top clubs", and they concluded a "very fair" transfer arrangement with Djurgården. She signed a two-year contract until July 2011 and will be joining Frankfurt in practice after the EUROs.
At last! What we've all been waiting for! Or at least Micol . Next season's preliminary schedule. So early it's confusing.
