any thoughts on the new galacticos era for real madrid? do u think it's gonna work out? how do these transfers affect the teams that lost players like ac and mufc?
The people who want fiscal responsibilty in football are angered by all this. I know the average fan doesnt care about that but it cant be good for the game as a whole. For example, I wonder how a Bayren Munich fan feels about their team not being able to do what Real Madrid just did with Kaka and CR yet they still have to compete against them in Europe and also because of what Real did now they have to worry about losing Ribery to ManU. Not fair.
I wont get over it until everyone across Europe plays by the same rules. If that cant happen then just have a Champions League with 10 teams and be done with it.
Imagine if ribery and ibra went to barca... best EPL player(ronaldo) gone, best bundes liga player(ribery) gone, best serie a players (kaka and ibra) gone, and ALL to spain. best players in the world would be in spain especially if villa, silva, aguero and joaquin stay in spain. messi iniesta xavi ronaldo ibra ribery kaka robben higuain henry All on the field at one time in classico lol imagine how awesome that would be or how expensive each team together would cost lol.
Since you need a good defense to win the CL I am not too worried about that (not that I care much about the CL to begin with). Just makes it easier to dislike Real, really. And Bayern shoudl worry about winning the Bundesliga first, when they have done that they can start thinking about the CL again.
I don't think it really bothers Real Madrid management how they'll do next season. Selling shirts & merchandise is their main objective.
Six teams ought to be enough. I can't see anyone outside of the premiership top four, Real and Barcelona win it.
Agree with this (perhaps Inter at a stretch; but I don't really fancy them at all). But Ah but it is so much easier to do that when you are the winning team. Apparently (I get this off The London Times) the entire of Manchester United's total revenue for merchandise came to less than 80 million pounds last year mostly due to widespread counterfeiting. Which makes one wonder on how exactly Perez plans to pay off this ridiculous splurge. And where is all this money coming from anyway? The city of Madrid? Perez's rich friends? Perez' himself?
You're speaking the truth. I think what will be more interesting is to see if a few "star" personalities can actually mesh well and can play with each other. Also, I think that it has been proven over the last few seasons that Champions League success is often dependent on a strong defense. So far, it looks like Madrid's defense could us some strengthening.
i think the semi-finals next year in CL will have the exact same teams, sadly. maybe madrid can take manu/liverpool/chelseas spot. but other then that it will be 3eng 1spanish or 2eng, 2 spanish
Lots of question marks. Eduardo, Adebayor, Rosicky? No matter how you slice it, if Arsenal has a chance then so do a couple of Serie "a" teams, namely Inter and Juve.
Last time i checked we weren't owned by an oil tycoon or a russian mafia boss. The money we spent is our own. Some dude here asked how a B.Munchen fan will feel about this because his club doesn't have money to buy players like Ronaldo and Kaka, well BOOOOHOOO more it's not our fault that they suck. Few weeks ago all of you were saying that players like Kaka and CR wouldn't come to Madrid at any price, now you are all whining about it... Keep on hating us, we are used to it Man UTD had a strong defense didn't they? How did that work out against Barcelonas attacking force?
The money you spend is the one of that building tycoon, which he gave to you (even though he doesn't own you). And, looking at your dept, which would not allow you to even start in either Germany, the Netherlands, or England, the money that you spend is not your own, but the money of your banks!
The money is not in proprietary merchandise, it's in third-party endorsements. This whole "selling shirts" thing is a simplification. Like all simplifications, there is a core of truth to it, but it can be misunderstood. Real Madrid is legally a not-for-profit. No money comes in or out that isn't generated by or spent on the club. Perez cannot put any of his money into the club.
You might as well stop watching football, because inequality is present in every league worth a dime.
Okay yes, but it has reached ridiculous levels since Bosman, the Expansion of Television money and the Champions League. In 1995 Blackburn Rovers were accused of 'buying' the EPL, but if the amount of money they had in the mid-90s could fund a title challenging side today then we would realistically be looking at a situation where Wigan and Portsmouth (before the Arab deal) could be contenders.
Every team 'buys' their titles, either by getting the better international or national players, by having the better youth setups (which cost money) by having the better coaching staff. That a team does it now due to suddenly having a rich owner, as opposed to always having done so like the traditional powers, doesn't make it worse.
Are Real hated more than us now? If so, i am officially annoyed about all this stuff. If they're not, then i'm not really bothered to be fair.
The point was that it has reached the stage where all competition is being nullified due to the power of some clubs over others.
