Whats not even close is your capacity to form a decent team. You want to move our current top scorer out wide and replace him with Villa? Also Garay as a starter after the season he had at racing? Marcelo at LB?

    No.

I read an interview with Pellligirini, says he is going to play a 4-4-2 diamond formation

    ..........Villa...............Ronaldo

    ......................Kaka

    ......Sneijder...............Higuain

    ......................Lass

    ...Marcelo....Albiol.....Pepe......Ramos

    ................Casillas..

You are right Higuain is not even close to Villa as a striker and he is not close to Robben as a left mid. Ditto Kaka at CAM and Ronaldo at RM. The bench for him it is then.

If you prefer Heinze or Metzelder to Marcelo and Garay I will reluctantly agree to that.

He was a right mid prior to this last year.

Just to clarify. IIRC in the 07-08 season when the defense was so stand up wasn't it Marcelo and Heinze getting a lions share of the minutes more than Pepe and Metzleder who were not the regulars.

Not a very effective one either which is why we have signed Kaka and tried for Ronaldo 3 years running. I'm not buying Higuian is better than WPOY's and European Cup winners.

Higuain has always been a striker. He was a striker for River Plate, and we bought him as one. He has been played on the right because he has a bit of pace and can do a job there, but he is by no means a right midfielder, and he never will be on a full time basis.

Not gonna argue with you there.

Its going to be interesting in what role and systems Pellegrini utilizes these players. I doubt Ronaldo will be a "true midfielder." Its still an unknown who is going to stay next year anyways. My guess Robben is gone along with Van der Vaart and a few others. I hope they keep Sneijder though.

Why all the love for Sneijder. He kept VdV on the bech most of the season and never showed up then VdV gets rated on the garbage games he played at the end when the team as a whole gave up. When Robben is on he much more dangerous then Sneijder. Not sure why Sneijder should stay other than he is young and has potential, but that was true two years ago and he hasn't improved at all and seems to be going backward.

i dont understand these teams with robben, kaka, c.ronaldo and villa all in the starting lineup. it might work against the lesser weights but the midfield will be absolutely crushed, and the forward line will be left with no supply, in the CL knockout stages.

plus pellegrini has spoke up and said he will play a 4-4-2 diamond which means no wingers. i say robben sits and c.ronaldo upfront with higuain, or villa if he is transferred to madrid, and kaka behind.

    ----c.ronaldo---villa------

Re: Where Dreams do not Become Reality -- The Formations Thread

    Casillas (Codina)

Maicon (Torres) ------ Ramos(Garay) -- Pepe (Metz) -------------Marcano (Marcelo)

    Lass (Diarra) ---- Alonso(Gago)

    Kaka (Guti) ---- Ronaldo (Silva)

    Higuain (Raul) --- Villa (RVN)

Granero, Negredo, and ???? filling the roster.

Salgado out --- I never figured it out if he has a contract with us or not anymore
Heinze - sell him for a few squids or he can be the third player to fill the roster (???? above)
JAvia Garcia - donate him for charity
VDV - sell him to MC
Sneijder - sell him only to bring Maicon. Otherwise he should be Kaka's backup instead of Guti and Guti should be the third player to fill the roster instead of Henize.
Drenthe - loan him out until he gets his shit together.
Parejo - back on loan until next year.
Huntelar - sell him. Since we bought/will buy Villa doesnt make sense to keep him and RVN. I am in favour of keeping RVN as he is proven and will not complain to sit on the bench unlike Huntelar. Also RVN will not bring any money from his sale while Huntelar can still do.
Saviola - sell him. Hell just donate him to compensate for his wages to the new team. I think selling him will be difficult since he has proven he doesn't care if he doesn't play as long as he gets a good wage.

Did I miss someone, except for Faubert of course :p

It was a radio interview. He said he didn't like wide wingers (extremos), that he like two central mids (one more creative than the other) and he mentioned he thought of Cristiano Ronaldo as a second striker.

Someone posted a link to that radio interview earlier this morning.

Yeah yeah, I know about that. But this Arsenal fan who has Madrid listed under foes said that Pellegrini said he would play a diamond midfield, which is different. I just wanted to see whether there was any truth to that or it was just yet another example of other fans trying to school us on our own club.

    ^ ah ...

well, I don't recall him talking about a 'rombo' (diamond)

When Pellegrini gets back to Madrid, we'll get more insight.
