Wow this is sad to hear. I sent an inquiry into Siriius XM asking when World Soccer Daily would be carried on XM. This is the note I got back: Thank you for contacting the Sirius XM Corporate Customer Relations Department. Your request and suggestion for programming has been looked over. We here at Sirius XM are comminted to providing the poducts and services that fit all customer needs. the Sports department confirmed that they would like to carry the World Soccer Radio show on XM and are looking into ways to do this however there are no plans in the near future for it to be carried on XM.
Let's hope this goes through because maybe then they will produce a commercial that makes me want to listen to this show. The TV commercial they run on Setanta is horrid. Not that I'd listen anyways - the two times I did I wanted to huck my hard drive out the window because of the absolute CRAP these two retards spew on a daily basis. Impartiality is NOT a word they seem to have come across in their respective 'journalism' careers. (I used quotation marks because I'm sure these guys are BARELY considered journalists in anywhere but their own minds)
Um, they don't claim to be journalists, nor do they claim to be objective at all. Steven is a Chelsea fan, Kenny is a Rangers fan. They only say that on like every show.
The commercial they run on Setanta is awful. I guess you don't listen to much sports radio at all. Nobody on sports radio is impartial and very few are journalists. These guys don't even pretend to be journalists. They just happen to be a couple of guys with a show that talks about soccer. I've listened to the radio show off and on for a while and seen the show on Fox and Steven certainly doesn't hide the fact that he is nothing more than a fan.
exactly. Sports radio was the original blogging. They bring on players, coaches or journalists as guests for the credibiltity, then play tennis with the somewhat informed opinions. Coincidentally, going on with and/or joining the ranks of the electronic sports media is saving those journalists' careers nowadays.
Yes - you all are correct. I do not listen to the show enough to call them journalists - and I am not sad about that fact. I guess that is one of the reasons it has turned me off when I have listened to it - because they are not journalists - just a couple of tards with a radio show that allows them to spout their often ridiculous opinions. I'll stick with James Richardson, the odd ESPN Soccernet podcast and PRAY that someday FSC gives JSL & Bob McMahon a podcast of their own. At least those shows have journalists who's opinions I respect. I just can't respect Kenny v. Spenny.
Then they will take off their "journalist hats" and put on their fanboys hats, if they're too have success in the US radio talk show arena. I don't know how sports talk show is in other countries, but in the States it seems to me that talk show hosts always show their fanatical colors. And the WSD hosts are no different. They don't pretend to be journalists as far as I know.
First things first, the boys at WSD have never claimed to be journalist. To make up for that, they have soccer journalist on the show all time such as Tim Vickery, Andy Brassell, Bobby McMahon and Kris Voakes. Second, nobody is putting a gun to your head to listen to the show. If you don't like it them don't listen to it, it's a pretty simple equation. I think that CRSN is crap, so I don't listen to the shows on there.
Think how boring a show would be if it was pure "journalism". People complain about WSD all the time but there's a reason they've been around for so long while others have failed. They're entertaining, and they've gotten better with the recent interviews they've had. If there is one things that maddens me about them, its their complete lack of knowledge with the US national team. Before the US-Mexico game Steven was claiming that Ricardo Fuller should start in midfield for the US with Heath Pearce starting on the right side of the field. I don't expect them to be fanaticos, but this was one of the biggest games for the US since 2007 and they do live in this country. Would they ever claim that Wes Brown should play on the left for England when an Ashley Cole is in camp? In the past I heard Steven claim that Jay DeMerit should be the new captain of the national team, even before DeMerit had ever even earned a cap. Would they ever say that an uncapped England or Scotland player should be named the captain of their team? To someone who pays close attention to the national team, there should be no doubt that they're utterly clueless on this topic because they don't care. Their coverage of MLS seems more informed than that of the national team.
World Soccer Daily will be added to XM Satellite Radio as of Monday April 27th. Channel 102 live from 1pm-3pm ET
I do believe you need the Best of Sirius package for that. This package is an additional $4.04 per month per radio. (Discounts apply to longer-term contracts and you might be able to get the package for free for a few months if you play your cards right.) It also includes other programming as well, such as live play-by-play from the Premiership. www.xmradio.com/best for more details or call (888) 5-SIRI-XM.
Anyone hear any chance for a morning replay of the show from the day before. I just switched from Sirius to XM and I usually hear the show in the morning on the way to work. I am usually not in the car when they are on live.
Either I'm missing something on their website, or I can't find any schedule information. If I pick this up on XM, is it 24/7 programming, or just at certain times on certain days?
OK, you might be right. None of the ads mention it, but when you check out the full channel listing, the Sirius PBP channels show up. As usual, XM (and I have subscribed for six years now) does a really shitty job of spelling things out.
Seriously. I'm also a subscriber, and on their e-mail newsletter list, and when one of the biggest changes in the company's history (the merger with Sirius, and resulting channel changes) happens, there's no notice whatsoever. I found out through a blog post.
