This year's Quake is really channeling the 2000 Quakes. A 2-2 draw is like a victory and we should celebrate.

there is so much missing from thier game. I hoping 2-1. I really want them to start passing better. but what can you do. I just don't want to see Corrales take any more yellow cards cause hes to lazy to do his job.

Folks, I don't even know where to begin.

I avoided the boards for weeks so I don't have to partake in this discussions of how awful we have become.

So, hopefully, there is a change on Saturday. We should all be at The Shaw to show support to the lads! I sincerely hope people would come to this match and cheer the team---we need a win to exorcise the losses!

This week we play a team that hasn't scored on the road yet. Then, we play two of the next three against teams that are as bad as we are (Dallas & Gals). SURELY (he said with confidence, keeping the trembling in his voice to a minimum) we will scrape some points out of these games!

The boys practiced in the blue training jerseys today instead of the regular black training jerseys. Hopefully that'll turn our luck around for tomorrow's match. From practice it looked like this will be our starting lineup:

    ---------Glen---Johnson

    Convey----Corrales----Alvarez
    -------------Elliot

    Zaher---Garcia-Hernandez---Leitch
    -------------Joe

Zaher looked good adding to the attack with overlapping runs and Glen was aggressive in the box but we're still a few players away from looking like a competitive team even in practice.

I did see Hucks doing laps around BS and he looked like the injury was not bothering him. He looked in good spirit at practice so rehab must be going well. No trialists training with the club today.

Brace yourselves for FCD-like attendance. I just received an e-mail from the Quakes ticket sales department and they are dropping the sideline tickets down to $25 a pop. That is fairly good, however expect attendance to be really low for this likely defeat.

GO YOU (not so) MIGHTY QUAKES!!!

    Did something happen to Denton?

Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely no reason not to give a young guy like Zaher a chance (although I would have tried it before now).

And the two guys that I really, really want to see on the bench still are in, Garcia and Alzvarez. Apparently Garcia's spot in the line up is guaranteed, no matter how many flaky goals the defense gives up. There's been two constants this season. Garcia starting and giving away easy goals. Now, I'm the first to tell you that correlation does not equal causation, but if I was Frank, that thought would be entering my mind.

Still have Elliot, Corrales, and Garcia as the spine of our team? Sigh.:(

Not sure whats up with replacing Denton. I know everyone bitches about him but only just recently has someone been able to pick out Denton as making a mistake that led to a goal*. Even then it was a team effort by everyone to let Columbus score two.

*Yes, I realize Denton has scored own goals in the past, but other than that I think Denton has been solid defensively, and has actually improved his overlapping runs. *Raises flame shield*

It's true. I'm the biggest Denton hater on the boards, and I can tell he's gotten a bit better.

He's always been good for a couple good tackles, but other than those few spectacular tackles per game, he gets beaten way too easily. Not quick enough, stick Convey back there.

Also, he seems to have a fitness problem. He starts getting tired quickly and his play suffers. His crosses get worse as the game goes on. That's an indicator of poor fitness.

I think Denton plays his position better than many other current Quakes playing their own positions. Better than Corrales playing his DM/CM position, better than Weaver playing CF, better than Salinas playing RM.

As far as i could tell, nothing is wrong with Denton. It may be a case of Zaher adding to the attack versus Denton's horribly low crosses. I was thinking the same thing myself as to why would Denton not start but then he serviced another one of his trademark low crosses in practice and thought "oh, I bet that's why".

Funny you mentioned Alvarez because he missed a practically open shot (with his left foot) and thought "why is he still starting?".

Yup. The practice ended with no goals scored from either side so that would be the perfect example of us not being able to beat ourselves. IMO other than Zahen and Glen, I didn't see any change in quality of play from the rest of the players so we haven't gotten any better whether it's starting XI or reserves. So I have to agree with Yallop when he says that it's down to confidence. If our boys don't gain anymore confidence, they wont be playing to their potential and we wont see different results until new players come in to the picture.

On the theory that the longer a streak lasts, the more likely it is to come to an end, I'll agree with you. Tonight we get a result!

I'm thinking 0-0 at half time, 1-0 to RSL shortly after but a Ryan Johnson goal tieing the game 1-1.
