So you may have seen the fact or fiction bit on Sportscenter....a statement is thrown out and then they argue over whether it's fact or fiction. Feel free to answer any or all of these fact or fictions. Also, throw out some new fact or fiction questions. 1) Maryland is the best team in the conference. 2) The ACC will send a team to the Final Four 3) ACC is the best soccer conference this year. 4) Tarantini will coach at State for another 5 years.
"Maryland is the best team in the ACC" In my best Trev Alberts voice: FACT! You just can't argue with their results. 36 goals, 7 against. Very, very tough. "The ACC will send a team to the Final Four" FACT! I think the ACC will send two teams to the Final Four. Maryland because of their experience from last year. They know what it takes. And Wake Forest because in addition to being so good, they're so hungry. Almost everyone is back from last year's team (minus Brian Carroll), everyone is a year better and Steven Curfman, in my estimation, is already as good as Carroll was last year. "The ACC is the best soccer conference" FACT! No matter how you slice it. Present? The ACC is 9-1 against the Big East this year. Past? The ACC has won 10 of the last 19 National Championships. Six different teams in the conference have won national titles (hm... one's missing... who could that be? "Tarantini will coach at NC State for another five years" FACT! This is a young State team that caught virtually everyone by surprise this year. While it's easy to get better, it's hard to move up in the ACC standings because everyone is pretty established and pretty damn good. But 2-3-1 is a serious move in the right direction for State and I'm willing to bet it has re-invigorated Tarantini. He loves his current team and what they can become.
