Well I won't be buying tickets through AO anymore. I'll buy them on ticketmaster and at least that way I know what section I am paying to be stuck in. If I wanted to pay and be in the nosebleeds, I would have done so. Did this just happen to AO or was Sam's Army and USSupporters affected too? Either way it's another royal cock up for USSF.
Awesome. I can't believe I'm flying all the way from Houston to be stuck in the nosebleed section while everyone else from my group is down on the field. Can we return tickets to AO? I might as well look for nicer seats if I'm going to be stuck in the 300 section so maybe I can somewhat see the game.
Why is US Soccer catering so much to the Honduras fans? Its complete crap. Block off some tickets, give them to the Honduran federation and call it good. Don't offer a Honduras supporter section to US based Hondurans. That's just f'ing stupid.
I agree. If SUM wants to make their money, fine, but do it with friendlies between the World Cups. This is a World Cup Freaking Qualifier. US fans should be the only priority here.
It is awful that your die hard supporters get screwed while your general public Honduras fan gets catered to. If it was about money I am sure no US supporters groups would have complained to pay a little more for an extended supporters section that was added from the end line up along the sidelines.
I got three tix in 322. According to the USSF website, the 100 level in totally sold out at this point. Sounds like US Soccer completely screwed the AO's.... I wonder how many 100 level tix Sam's Army got in comparison.
I ordered through SA many weeks ago and am in 321. It's an anal screwing all around. That said, I still can't wait!
anybody have any idea what sections the supporters groups will span on both levels? I.E. 122-124/322-324, etc.
I sent them an email and this was the response I got: I'll probably give that number a call tomorrow. Infuriating...
How does ticketing work for AO? Are the orders sent in to US Soccer as they are received. Or are they just sent all at the same time? It seems like everybody posting is stuck in 300, but there have to be some fans in 100. I'm just curious how they obtained their tickets, USSC, Ticketmaster, AO, or Sams. This situation kind of sucks but hopefully it will lead to better ticketing procedures in the future. Although I'm not very optimistic given US Soccer's track record.
We talked to US Soccer. There are the same amount of people in the 300 level as there will be in the 100 level. About 800 - 900 each per section. The split happened with all supporters groups with the US Soccer Supporters Club, being no exception. Which I don't think you can buy tickets from US Soccer Supporters Club anyways. They said they caught this too late, and all sections in the 100 level/200 level were sold out when they caught this, this is what they had to do to allow more "Standing" seating for supporters, and not cut it off. This is a good problem to have, it shows that we are growing faster then anyone thought, but it is a problem non the less. We have talked to US Soccer and tried to come up with ways to keep this from ever happening again in the future. They should have caught this earlier or make the deadline earlier so they know how many supporters are going to buy tickets. We let them know all concerns that we have heard from our members, blatantly, and how you feel. We also don't want to lose your trust in buying tickets from Supporters groups from what US Soccer decided to do, and we made sure to make this point to US Soccer so that supporters like you, who want to be in "Standing" section know what they are getting in the future and don't have to worry.
Its pretty apparent that US Soccer grossly underestimated the supporter section demand and screwed up. What I'm wondering if there is any advantage to buying tickets through Ticketmaster instead of AO or Sams. I've never bought supporters section through Tickemaster. I assume it works the same as regular tickets where you get your section and seat number before you complete the purchase. I'm not trying to place blame (other than on US Soccer). I just want to help makes things better in the future. Seems like AO is already on top of things.
If the stadium's end is the same as the other end, its not as bad as we all think- first off, if we have 6 sections with 8-900 in each of them, that means ao/sa will have 5,000 people going nuts for the nats.. i can't complain there- second off, it doesn't look like there's much of a lift there, like we'll almost be on top of the 100's.. granted, it sucks, but maybe its not as awful as we all think...
The problem I have is that this isn't the first time they have screwed the loyal fans and completely and totally underestimated the demand for tickets. WC 2006 fax fiasco Sell out of Crew stadium in 45 minutes (good thing and handled OK but.....) Now only putting aside only 3 sections in Chicago on basically the best scheduled game of the year. They say that continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Decision makers in Chicago are insane.
I ordered through Sam's Army the day they went on sale (at least 3 months ago), and was lucky enough to get my 3 tix in the 100 level. At least, from what it sounds like, everyone stuck in the 300's will be around other very passionate supporters. Hopefully, the 100 and 300 supporters sections are not so far separated that we can't do a few interactive/call-back chants with each other. Oh, and I'm envisioning quite a scene at the conclusion of the national anthem. Imagine this: 100-level SS waving the BAF's while the 300's shower us with R,W,& B streamers...

Hopefully USSF learns from this fiasco. It's going to be funny if there are Honduran fans in the 200 level between us.
Well, just bring in lots of streamers, and hurl them at the Hondurans for 90 minutes, like that Fener video I posted.
why cant the message coming out be this: "sorry Hondurian fans seating in 200's their was a big error, and we now have to place you in the 300's, to accomadate the US fans since this is realisticly their home field". Instead of: "Dear US fans who have spent thousands on us over the past 30 years, we are sorry to inform that yot stink and the Hondurian fans are more special, which is why we cater to them and not you, have a nice time in the 300's suckersssssssssssss.
I thought that 200 was club level, but maybe club is only along the sidelines at SF. Damn, I was hoping the throw some shite down on the US Soccer bigwigs and related corporate sponsors.
I tell you what, I'm 70/30 leaning towards NOT going because of this. And I have a feeling people are going to be requesting to stand in front of their seat number because nobody is going to want to be stuck all the way in the back of the 300s. What a F-up.
There's tickets going for $90-$100 each in section 124 on Stub Hub if you're really desperate to get in the lower level next to the supporters section.... Looks like there's also some available in the 200 level between the two supporters sections (that could be a dangerous place to sit though).
This is a good idea... send your comments to US Soccer in a professional manner so this doesn't happen again... see my letter below. To whom it may concern, I am a regular attendee of US Soccer matches all around the country and will be attending my second World Cup next summer. I recently purchased supporters section tickets with the understanding that US Soccer would allocate us lower level endzone seats as a supporters group. We were recently informed that US Soccer is dividing the supporters section into two sections, one in the 100 level and one in the 300 level. The supporters that purchase these tickets, like myself, are people from around the country who travel hundreds of miles to get to these matches. We are your most faithful and enthusiastic supporters. Without us this match (and many others on US soil) would not be “home matches.” I am writing to request an explanation of why these tickets were divided into two sections, find a solution to this, and to express my concern that this does not happen again. Sincerely, Scott
