People shouldn't be surprised by this. He is Real Madrid.
    Agree 100%
I like him too. And I like this not being a long-term solution. We have Gerrard and Torres as the long-term players, but we need guys like Eidur to have depth to win the title.

That being said: His complaint about Barcelona is that he doesn't get enough time. Would he want to come to Liverpool if he knows he's not going to start?

I'd rather take someone with more skill on the ball, one that will be able to take on players. Our passing game is fantastic, but when teams set-up/bunker and keep their form we sometimes have problems getting through. A player with such qualities will be able to penetrate defenses and provide the team with another dimension.

Was never a fan of eidur and I don't think he is as good as what we already have. If he's going to be a bencher for a low price, that's fine. But anything more than that and you're having issues of who to replace. Frankly, I don't think he's good enough to displace anyone in the current squad.

He wouldn't really be replacing anyone. He would be adding depth. Whoever we bring in will be a fourth person for two positions. Gerrard, Benayoun, Kuyt, ? can all play right winger or in the whole behind Torres.

David Silva subbed injured, not good. :(
In other news, I believe that he claimed again today that he is happy at Valencia and doesn't want to leave. yeah right.....

We were never going after him. Rafa said that Valencia bottled that deal.

even staunch real supporters want raul to retire, and did at the beginning of THIS season... not sure if he has much more in the tank...

gudjohnsen would be an alright pick-up, i guess... but, i'm not sure if there isn't younger, better, cheaper options out there...

milito is money... i thought we might have taken a look at him last summer when zaragosa was having their relegation fire sale... he is a clinical finisher.... a similar, but better player, i'd say, than the coveted santa cruz... i would think he'd be able to make an easy EPL transition as he is big and physical...

I still think Silva is the perfect guy. He can play on the left, right, or centrally just behind Torres. He also is good enough to raise the level of our attack. Even if the price is high it may be worth it.

Even if we sign a Silva type, we would still need to sign a center forward who can do the job if Torres gets injured again. Are we sold on Ngog for this role? I'm not.

Throw in a right back and its a good summer.

Hopefully one of Kuyt, Babel and Ngog can or will grow to be able to.

I agree with you but I think Right back and attacking midfielder are more important. :)

Silva would be great, I just don't think it will happen. He is a very good player and he would fit well into Rafa's system.

What about Voronin? Or Gudjohnsen? Both could certainly fill the backup center forward position. It is also possible that Ngog, Nemeth, or Pacheco could as well.

Everyone needs to remember that our backup center forward isn't going to be the same as Nando. We can't expect to sign a Milito or a Eto'o and say "Okay, now you are going to sit on the bench".

I really do rate Ngog. He is raw, but he has shown some flashes of what he is capable of. He has the athleticism and the footballing brain to compete at the Premier League level (especially given a 1-2 years to mature and adjust). If he could improve his technical ability just a little bit he could be quite the player.

    Different papers are reporting that...

Alonso is going to be sold for 18 M to Manchester City...

That 18 M is going to fund a further war chest of 46 M...

Rafa is hoping to wrap up an 8 M deal for Barry to replace Alonso...

Tevez's probable United departure but wanting to stay in England has alerted Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City...

Alonso is going nowhere, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rafa was back in for Barry...especially since the price will be drastically reduced this time around. Think about how many games Lucas played this year and then also consider that Barry can play at left back or left midfield. There could be a significant role for him.

I could see Manchester City signing Tevez. They could make the highest bid, and he wouldn't mind playing there.

I was thinking about that during the game today. How funny will it be next year when Tevez is wearing Blue. HA

How fast is Ngog? Is he up there with Torres and Babel or is he closer to Gerrard.

Torres is faster than Babel. I would say Ngog is just as fast as Babel.

Wouldn't he face the same problem at Liverpool that he does at United?

Who would Benitez take out of position? Would he adjust his formation as he did with Keane? If so, who does he drop?

Tevez wants to be a starter

What about Alonso? His reward for being arguably our best player is to be benched in home games? lol

That's a tough one. Either Kuyt or Riera.

Kuyt won't and should not be dropped. He has become a quite important player in our system and a personal favorite for Benitez.

Riera maybe but he has done well in his first year and he could improve even more next year. Benching him might stagnate that.

Well, then we'll just have to rotate. There would be a great deal of combinations which could do the job against most teams if a player like Tevez comes in, plus we have players like Bennayoun who also deserve to be in the mix.

Injuries, suspensions and tiered legs will allow rotation, and we would be able to go all the way in the FA cup and the Champions League (Because the EPL will be our number 1 priority).
