^ I wasn't serious. I don't like doing the 'if you could go back in time' thing because I do not know that it teaches us that the next standout at a U-21 tournament will disappoint. Is that the conclusion?

I am just a frustrated Socio that is not happy with what is happening at Real Madrid ... I don't mean just the results.

NOTE: YS87 would tell you that I should decribe myself as a "frustrated OLD Socio" ... I am not yet 40, so I will hold off on the OLD for the time being. :D

Don't need a DM and CM/CAM, just one or the other depending on next season's manager and tactics. Don't really need a striker either most think.

As for opinion on who we are keeping: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=17632169&postcount=322 (Pepe is NOT on the bubble, that poll is even done not long after the incident which in reality will be more forgotten as time goes by)

We might as well buy any player who played 5 whole good games, then keep him here for seasons, if he doesn't work out loan him a couple of seasons more. We won't have to sell him afterwards, he'll be ready to retire.

But you are not the best club in the world. We are.

Xabi Alonso would have no reason to leave Liverpool, they compete in the Champions League, and have started to challenge properly for the Premier League. Benitez would be a crazy, crazy man to sell Alonso so Barry can come. I expect Gareth Barry to leave for Arsenal, who need an experienced midfielder who is English.

We shall see in the final. Barcelona have yet to receive a drubbing like you did from Liverpool.

He would have no reason *if* they don't sign Barry. Benitez certainly hasn't ruled that out. And as for Arsenal, since when are they in the business of buying overpriced Englishmen?

Whats so special about Gareth anyways? I dont understand why Benitez rly wants him. Hes a good player, thats for sure, but hes no crack. As for getting Xabi, we could offer Sneijder for Xabi + cash. Sneijder would definetely work well in england, hes got the pace and the strength, I feel he would work better at England than at Spain.

mmmm... I'd still buy drenthe, for a lesser price and treat him differently. The pressure obviously got to him. He was like 14 million, at the age of 20, the next big thing. And he signed for a club of his dreams. The fans expected too much from him and now they all see him as a failure. I see him as a victim more than a failure. I would buy him for castilla or loan him to another club for 2 seasons (feynord would glady take him).
But now that he is in this difficult situation he really needs a new club, but I would LOAN, not sell.

Asking Drenthe to keep his balance and not fall over is too much to ask for? Just kidding for those that take that seriously but what has Drenthe shown to keep him for? Look I usually agree with Alma, and still do at this time with all of what he is saying but Drenthe is kind of a lost cause IMO, we should loan him out in hopes that he does good enough to get interest/a decent price from another team because quite frankly he does not looks to be the player we need. You know there was a wonderful post by Oscar a while about how he (Drenthe) could be a grest chess player if only he could keep his balance, don't remember it to be exact but it was pretty hilarious.

No thanks to Ibra, Higuain, Negredo, Hunter, and Raul are good enough for next season IMO.

I also don't agree with selling Sneider, before his injury/sleeping around with other women/other off-fied crap he was actually an important player for us so I don't see why we should sell him right away. If he can regain his form and in fact even imrpove himself he can still be a very important player for us. VDV on the other hand...he just has not shown enough, where as Wesley already has.

Before, I used to advocate Sneijder staying as he seemed to be an influential midfielder. But after his injuries & drops of form I'd sell him for the 1st decent offer that comes along. As have other posters have pointed out that he was on form for what? 3 or 4 months total? That's not good enough in my book. He seems to show that he can't separate his performances on the pitch to his personal life. I don't care if your girlfriend or dog breaks up with you, once you get on the pitch at the end of the day you are a professional footballer being overpaid to play a child's game.

So you really think after 1 season that we should sell him? Honestly, I can't remember how many post I saw here with the mancrush for Sneider and now all of a sudden this same player has become crap in just 1 season? I still think that on form he is our best midfiedler, hands down. He also puts out more effort than peopel warrant for him, I think most of this season his form was due to injury rather than off the field crap although that does effect him, afterall he is a human and things like that effect all people no matter what their job is. I, for one, still think he has a future with us.

1 year? He's been here for 2 seasons now. He's been given more than enough chances to regain his form injured or not.

And how many games in total have we seen this "man-crush" Sneijder? Face it, the man is almost as inconsistent as a 32 year old cantera product wearing #14. Of course he is perhaps our best midfielder on for... wait when was the last time he was on form?

If this was a numerical score he would have failed 7 out of 10 times.

I don't think it was. The bad Diaby tackle only kept him out until October IIRC. He's worked quite hard at bottling the rest of the season by himself. It's fair to ask if all the nagging minor injuries (if that's what they are) that he's had since them are due to, or extended by, a very disperse lifestyle. Right now he's in one of those injury limbos where you're not sure what the hell is going on. It's like a beer ad they have here on TV where someone phones his boss and calls in tired. Reminds me a lot of Ronaldinho last season.

I don't think anyone think he's crap. In fact, if he was a crap player that was trying, no one would say anything. Sneijder has a problem that is much more solvable than being a crap soccer player, and he's consistently made all the wrong choices about it. If an offer came in at what he cost us, that's a valid argument to sell IMO.

AS say that Valdano wants Clichy for the LB spot, and he could be had for 16ME I think it said. They also speculated that he has his eye on Maicon, and Inter may sell him if a good offer comes in.

Couldn't ask for better full-backs to come in and fix our problem to be honest, well, unless the other was Evra maybe. Not putting too much into it though, as it's essentially AS making assumptions about availability and cost, but I'd sure as hell welcome the moves.

I meant to say 1 bad season as his first was pretty good IIRC, anyway he is anything but a Guti:p If I remember right in the first season he played right midfield/in the centre and IMO he still impressed, even though that's not supposed to be his natural role. I think he had a better season than most are giving him credit for.

laudrup - Well if it's that bad (in terms of Ronaldinho lifestyle, I thought he was a hardworking guy?) than I guess we wll keep him as I don't see many teams offering what we did to get him from Ajax.

    FYP..

His first two months were incredible, then he lost form for around 6 months and played well the remaining time. The first two months is what people have used to carry him the last two years.
