    The REAL Chicago Red Stars

I think this week we finally see at least the real attacking potential of the Red Stars. We may be a bit thin on defense with Frida's red card but -- we'll just have to outscore them. Abby's size was a problem last week, but i think we match up much better against Kai/O'reilly.

Cristiane (no H and EEEE at the end) should get her first start and will be electric. Rapinoe, Tarps, Carney, Lloyd, Klein/Massar with overlaps by Dalmy and perhaps Garriock will threaten. It will just take a little time for these combos to be natural, but be assured they are coming and still have only been together with Cris and the WNT players for a few weeks.

Just hope the rain is manageable.

    Come on Red Stars!

Today is a beautiful, gorgeous day in Chicago. Supposed to get up in the 70's and sunny. However, Sunday it's supposed to rain or partly rain. But that may change.

My Red Stars starting line-up prediction:

    Carney Cristiane

    Rapinoe Loyd Klein Tarpley

    Spilger Krzysik Dieke Dalmy

    Jonsson

Geometry assignment: How many effective attacking triangles can you construct using those 6 'points'? ;>)

East side looks pretty full, despite the crappy weather.

    Go Red Stars!

    First off:
    Let's go Tarpley!!!!

HAO needs to display more flair; Weimer is challenging for her spot on the National team.

0-0 HT. Red Stars should at least be up by one in my opinion.

Red Stars look very good. I know some of you said you thought 10K was possible but with the bad weather does it look like you guys may have 6K there?

I'm surprised one entire side seems to be empty and behind the goals are empty too.

Good first half for Chicago- 12 shots on goal vs 3 for Sky Blue

Now let's put it in the net!

Crowd is on the east side- 3/4 of the stadium looks empty, so 5000 to 6000 may be right

Tickets are only available on the east side of the stadium I think.

That was a nice set up for Tarpley's shot at the end. Exciting game overall.
It's nice these games are viewable.

On an unimportant and pointless note, what's with the jersey design? They appear to have some kind of wide scoop-neck, which aside from the boat-neck, is the optimal choice for bra strap viewing. ugh. It looks dumb.

Question....when did Chicago pick up Jill Oakes? It isn't listed on the WPS transaction page and she isn't listed on the Chicago roster page. And since they picked her up, who did they drop?

Wasn't this game at Toyota Park that holds 25K to 30K?

    What was the official attendance?

Chicago had 18 to 7 in shots and they showed a highlight montage mostly of people on the ground and how they got there. I think (hope) the filters on the cameras didn't let us see how bad the rain was and that was a major factor. I also believe there are some fitness issues that showed playing in those conditions. It was an enjoyable match to watch but filling the stands for good or ill is going to require giving the casual fans some goals to cheer. In today's conditions a set piece would - could - should have won it but remember these are all more or less 'expansion' teams, the choreography will get better (we can hope).
