We will finally find out if he can play central midfield. I actually think this is his best position. Under Ferguson he was reduced to a crossing machine. He can do more than that. He can be creative in the middle and especially, he can get into shooting positions. And I think it is a myth that he is to soft and can t win the ball.
I think the only people who have said that are people who have never watched him play. In fact, to the people who have watched him a lot, he has the reputation of reacting, (over-reacting), when he has been clobbered by an opponent and chasing them around to kick them.
Re: Re: The best thing to come out of the Beckham move Exactly. But why than didn’t Ferguson ever give him a chance in the center?
In the last two seasons he has played mostly as a supporting forward , right behind RvN, so he wasn’t the problem.
Best thing out of his move is that Madrid can now begin to pay off their huge debt just on the sale of Beckham jerseys alone! Even my daughter a die hard Betica wants me to buy her a Real Madrid jersey with number 23 and Beckhams name on it. I told her it would be "a cold day in hell" before I ever bought a Madrid or even a Barca or Sevilla jersey! ;>) You figure that world wide Beckham's jersey will have sales exceeding at least 1M units this year alone. If Madrid gets $10 a jersey that's $10M right there, plus all the other Beckham items that will be on the market: pictures, books, mouse pads, wallpapers etc. They guy's a marketing dream come true for F. Perez and the Madrid entity! Who cares if he doesn't crack the top 11!! Saludos y viva er beti manque lopera! Pichi
Think positive. Think Free-Kicks Best thing to come out of the Bekham move is: (With out a doubt) Free Kicks. With Becks we have much more chances in scoring out of Free Kicks. No offence to RC, he does get them.. occasionally.. But still, with beckham it'll be better.
Re: Think positive. Think Free-Kicks Marcos Assuncao from Betis does it much better than Beckham and RC, it was too bad that he got injured late in the season. Saludos y viva er beti manque lopera! Pichi
Re: Re: Think positive. Think Free-Kicks Assuncao is good, but better then Becks and RC? Not in your wildest dreams!
All of a matter of opinion. But until Asuncao can put it on goal more often, and not just near goal, I will still pick Becks and RC. But don't fret it none, Barcelona and Betis fans were born to be wrong.
Re: Re: Think positive. Think Free-Kicks Were you and Mario able to catch Becks goal against FC Tokyo?? Not bad in my opinion.
Re: Re: The best thing to come out of the Beckham move Pichi, what huge debt are you talking about? I thought Madrid's huge debt was wiped out when Florentino managed to get the local government to buy the team's training ground on the Castellana. Wasn't the team already actually profitable before Beckham's signing?
welcome bkn, pichi's talking about the accounting disorders recently found in their books. Lallou, I just pray for our Dm's and defenders to not foul in the edge of the box when we play real,, cuz its actually half goal!
The best thing to come out of the Beckham move.... Abramovich Sets Sights On Beckham Return Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has revealed a desire to sign David Beckham, should the England captain become available. Abramovich is set to take his summer spending to £60m as he finalises the deals to sign Manchester United's Juan Sebastian Veron and West Ham's Joe Cole. He told the Daily Telegraph: "I have never met Beckham but if there was a real chance he'd go back to England then, as a player, I like the look of him." Beckham joined Real Madrid for £25m earlier this summer.
¿The best thing to come from this is that all other teams, like Chelsea, want this player but can't have him because they don't compare to Madrid?
Uh, yeah, that's why we bought two of your players, because we "don't compare". Right. No no, that makes a lot of sense. Really, it does. Btw, if you are looking for someone to take good free kicks, it was Assuncao's counterpart when he was in Rome - Mihajlovic. Holds the record for scoring on those in a single season in SerieA, I believe. Too bad he's slower than Hierro these days.
What disorders!!!, YOU MUST BE DREAMING!!!!!. The last week for first time in the history of the club, the socios/members of the club approved the accounts of the last year and the budget for this year, WITHOUT ANY VOTE AGAINST. The last year the team had a BENEFITS of 11Million €, and the previous year of 9Million €. And the team expect a exponential growth of its benefits for the next years. IF Adidas could give Real Madrid more Jerseys the Real Madrid would sell more, but Adidas stock for Real Madrid is 1 Million jersey by year. The Real Madrid is trying to improve this number. Adidas cannot give more t-shirts to RM because the wouldn't have enought t-shirts to respect the contract with another teams in the world. http://www.elpanamaamerica.com.pa/archive/08052003/sports13.shtml If you are searching economic problems, you have in Barcelona a perfect place to search. Barcelona have stopped the construction of his new training grounds because they CAN'T PAY the constructors. And they are renegotiating its debts because BARCELONA CAN'T PAY TO THE BANKS. free-kicks - Roberto Carlos?!?!?!?!? I know you've moved onto money now, but couldn't let that free-kick debate pass without comment. Beckham and Assuncao are superb, but the vast, vast majority of Roberto Carlos free kicks are absolutely useless. The most over-rated free kick taker in the world. Madrid's fans must be delighted that someone has turned up who may do something other than thrash the ball straight into the wall - AND will be allowed to take some free kicks (for some reason, Figo, Zidane and Hierro - all better than Roberto Carlos - very rarely took them). The poor guys in the wall nust be pretty relieved also.
I´ll take his typical post with all the sources he has to back it up. The rolling eyes belongs to two mods that make accusations with no source to back them up.
