seeing as how nobody else wants to bring this up. How about that result?! hahahaha who is to blame? Koreas worst result since when? what will Korea's fifa ranking be now?
booooooooo!!!!!! why? WHY!??!?!!! who played? this is sad. everything is over. time to panic. AHHH. ok, but how did they lose??
Nah, people shouldn't panic. People should start panicking if Korea loses to Oman in a few days. Korea lost not only because we sucked ass in that game, but also underestimated a fiercely defensive driven team who were just itching for that one single moment of Korea's defensive hole and capitalized on it beautifully. All respect goes to the Vietnamese team. So since they've been kicked in the ass now that they were beaten, the true test of Coehlo's ability to endure and cope under immense pressure and scrutiny will be against Oman. And besides, as much as I've criticized Coehlo for his lack of charisma, coldness, and hard-headedness, right when he was appointed, it is still way too early to criticize his competence as a coach. This blunder wasn't his fault, it was our squad's overconfidence and lack of drive. They thought they would cruise past the Vietnamese knowing they garnered 3 wins in 3 in the first phase of qualification and that bit of laziness and cockiness killed them. Yes, our squad showed superiority and dominance on the pitch, but at the end of the day, the score was 1-nil to Vietnam and the players have only themselves to blame for this blunder.
Whatever the National team does, they catch so much attention. There must be something to cut down the NAT's attention. Now that the K-League is almost over, I will be watching the KBL when i go home this winter. I cannot wait.
Funny article http://sports.chosun.com/news/news.htm?name=/news/sports/200310/20031021/3au08007.htm This is coming from a man who coaches Anyang. Tell him to shove that load of crap up his butt. He is obviously not helping the situation at all. Ban Gae Gwang-rae from Korean footie forever! ( recall: he was also part of the Guus Hiddink bashing crew a few years back).
Isn't our coach named Jo Gwang-rae? Considering we have lost 8 out of our last 10 games with one of the best squads in the K-League Jo Gwang-rae should be coaching a kids team. And that's coming from an Anyang supporter. I'm also wondering about Coelho attending K-League games. I am pretty sure he goes to a game every single round. It's impossible to go to all of them since the *#*#*#*#en tosspots at K-League HQ generally schedule all 6 games for the same time. dickwads njs
To give you a somewhat relative comparison, K2 side, Kookmin Bank(Semi Pro), was invited to participate in the LG cup and beat the same U-23 Vietnam NT 2-0 in Vietnam a few months ago! This just makes our 1-0 loss more embarrassing. What exactly went wrong? we might not be able to find any answers for that until we could see this match. Damn those TV stations. They've never cared about the Asian cup!
WOW That actually does put some perspective on this matter. And this is not like Hiddink's early setbacks. He was playing top class teams or near top class teams at the time. And more importantly, European teams we failed to beat in the past. This is a match against a lowly football team who never make the World Cup. Coelho's had over a year at the helm and has not produced one single result that matters. Beat Hong Kong 10-0? So what? The pressure shouldn't be on Coelho for just the Oman match. This is not even the actual Asian Nations Cup!!!!! Any more of this nonsense and he should be axed. Against Hiddink I understood because he was putting the players under an intense training schedule which left them jaded against good opposition. The Gold Cup got me worried though. But this is not the Gold Cup, this is the Asian Nations Cup. This will be Coelho's ultimate test and anything short of a semi final place in that tournament (barring a freak accident early on that no one could have fixed) and we should start looking for a replacement.
RFE: yea its Jo Gwang-rae but I call him Gae (dog) Gwang-rae just because i dont like him. 13th Redneck: It's a bit to early to say such things about Coelho but we can always put Park Jin-sup up front to score some goals for us! Remember he scored 5 against Nepal playing as a right wing, lol.
Well, let's panic away. Let the party start. not just a fluky lost. A THREE TO ONE lost. This is becoming even worse than the Huh Jung-Moo era.
It's more funny cause after the two embarrasing losses, korea's fifa ranking went up 17 spots to 22nd today. they probably didnt take the matches into account but jumping 17 places for 3 wins? thats pretty crazy
yeah that seems ludicrous as most teams in the top 50 in the world would have beaten those three teams. I guess a 16-0 score helps though. I suppose by this time next month they will be back down to 30 something. there must be so much emphasis placed on winning or it could just be that all the teams 20-40 haven't played lately so they haven't had a chance to pick up points. 1-0 over Oman (their best result) and 1-3 away doesn't look like a 22nd ranked team does it? ??
these two losses weren't counted so Korea slide again next month. Vietnam 98th ranked Oman 80th ranked It's amazing that losing 1-0 to argentina, 2-0 to uruguay etc etc makes you slide down from the low 20s to 38th and then beating some small nations makes you go back up to your original spot. It doesn't make sense. 1-0 over a team ranked 102nd 5-0 over a team ranked 98th 16-0 over a team ranked 164th Shouldn't those be the expected scores against that opposition. In fact you could argue that beating Oman 1-0 at home should make you drop a few spots. Surely to go up you have to do better than you are expected to do. no? I am gonna have to rethink my views on the rankings if this is how huge a swing can be for such simple results.
you cant blame the manager for a piss poor game from korea. we just dont have a midfield period and until we find a couple decent players to control/dominate the mid, dont expect to win many games against european or south american teams. 2002wc team that hiddink managed and the team that coelho has now is totally different, no point of comparing them. if coelho could call on/train the players like hiddink had done for friendlies, wc qualifying, etc; im pretty sure you would see a different team.
Sack Coelho. He even did crap when all the best players were available. Now that he only has 2nd string sides, he borders on useless.
yeah and he's got outstanding players to work with. Some of the best natural finishers in the game. That is in finishing their hair before they run out on the pitch.
Ugh disgraceful! I think the player attitudes are a factor as well. We need someone who can shut them up!
