So, ok, both sides were missing some key folks, but it seemed pretty good match. Would love to see any highlights, especially Pappa's goal. Another goal given up on a set piece (with what the announcer said was almost a 2nd later).

    Meh, it's a pre-season.

Good for guys to get some time, but the risk of injuries always exists.

Props to LA for even doing it. Not a slam against the Fire, cuz, heck, if the other team wants to do A/V at their expense, let 'em :D

Just back from the game. Poppa and Mapp were the two standouts for either team. Poppa's goal was nice, though to be fair someone needed to close him down faster than that. Mapp beat Donovan in a foot race to a ball down the sidelines and pulled up limping soon after. Blanco subbed in for him. Hope he's okay.

The goal the Fire allowed was on a rugby scrum after a corner kick. Tudela eventually shot and it went through what looked like an offside Galaxy player's legs and in. The Galaxy played mostly long ball and looked to convert on set pieces.

The Fire pretty much dominated the first half, the second half was honestly quite sloppy. I thought Dasan Robinson had an excellent game in defense.

Well, we know Blanco was going to come in, he had been warming up already. Was he supposed to come in for Mapp or someone else?

Well he was almost a libero as he played very, very deep; basically right in front of the back four. Pause was actually the one that got forward more often. Conde did his job well though maybe he needed to adjust a little to the less time he had on the ball.

Poppa had some great moves to beat players off the dribble, but one concern I had was he was very left footed. He lined up on the right (Mapp on the left) but really didn't seem to want to put a cross in with his right. Other than the Poppa goal, the best scoring chances for the Fire were a Mapp shot that Ricketts tipped around the far post, and a McBride diving header from a Mapp cross that Ricketts did a great job of getting to.

The only starter who really didn't play well was Busch actually. Didn't come out on set pieces well and that was virtually all of LA's dangerous plays. After Noble came in, LA nearly took the lead on what looked to be a potential own goal. Noble came out on a free kick and didn't get there. The ball bounced off a Fire defender and drifted inches wide of the post.

Oh and Segares earned the yellow he got. Also Poppa should have got one in the first half after sending Dema sailing through the air on a slide tackle.

I don't know, but Mapp definitely was injured either way. He pulled up limping after a run, tried to play through it for a few minutes and then sat down in the field after a stoppage and was taken out for Blanco.

I beg to differ. Find another preseason meaningless game between 2 MLS clubs with ticket prices averaging $35 that drew even half the attendance of the Phoenix match.

For a city that hues and cries that they want one, they should take advantage of every opportunity they get to actually see not one, but two, with WC veterans from different countries.

'Nuff said. This ain't the Pheonix attendance issues forum.
