A few of the papers this morning suggested that Sven will quit the England job after the game tommorow regardless of the result. If it is true, I for one will be very sad to see him go. He has only ever lost one important game in charge as England manager. (v Brazil in World Cup) If it does come to it, who will be the manager to pick up the pieces? I think Martin O'neill or Arsen Wenger would both do a good job. We'll probably end up with some shite English Manager again.
del bosque? would del Bosque ever be considered? You can't fault his record at the club level, but has he done anything at the international level?
Well if an Irishman and Frenchman are ok why not a scot. Sir Alex should be the one. What do yoiu say to that Motterman?
Not only would SheepBoy refuse a pay cut, he would not have as much control as currently does at ManUre.
If the job is up for grabs then they should (but will never do) give the job to the only one Englishman since Brian Clough that has ever talked any real sence on both the game and the players... Step forward Mr Barry Fry... England Expects... your country needs you!!!!
ah! but think of the possiblities.... Burton's making the new England suit with matching sheepskin coat and flat cap... Beckham would never look so good...
I'd say Arsene, but then in a few years we'd have people bitching about how his bad influence has caused the squad to receive red cards. Martin O'Neill would be my choice.
are you obsessed with sheep? is it completely normal with people of your kind? anyways, sir alex wouldn't fit in as englands manager because of becks.
I heard a story once that Sir Alec had been asked by a journalist whether he would consider being the England manager. His response was along the lines of: "Sure I'll become England manager... ...And get them relegated!" Intellegent comment from the Scotsman.
I think peter taylor is the best man for the job, he does a good job with the coaching and tactics, i think the only problem with his game is his transfer buys at top level as he showed with the foxes, but there are no transfers in interantional football i think he could do a good job, there just dont seem to be any top english mangers at the moment which seems kinda strange to me. Well we may so who they do select after the summer but i think they will give it to another nationality again coz there just doesnt seem to be anyone up to the job
Peter Taylor!! Peter Taylor! No f**ing way! I might be biased against him 'cause I live in Leicester. He is probably the second most hated person round these parts (After Dennis Wise). He is blamed for Leicesters relegation and subsequent financial problems. Even so he has yet to prove himself at the top level. Was it 1 or 2 games as England coach. A disasterous year and a half in the Premiership. Okay he's done well in the 2nd and 3rd Division but that's about it. If you insist on an English Manager how about Steve Claridge. Managed Pompey for a while, and is now manager of the Terras (Weymouth) who are second top in the Dr Martens Premier league. He's scoring a few goals too.
I should be the next England manager, as I have done the quadruple with Blackburn on Championship manager . If the FA fail to realise my skills, I think Curbishley or Bruce should be the one after the next manager. Assuming Sven goes after Euro 2004, I'd have.............Phillipe Troussier perhaps, or maybe Ronald Koeman or Guus Hiddink. It's difficult to think of a stop-gap until Curbishley and Bruce get experience with teams 'bigger' than Charlton and Brum.
"It's difficult to think of a stop-gap until Curbishley and Bruce get experience with teams 'bigger' than Charlton and Brum." I disagree. Curbs should get it now. He has kept his relatively small team in the premiership these last few years now. Bruce would be good too.
Martin O'Neil or Steve Bruce in my mind~ of course, you couldnt go wrong wif soccerchick's answer... go gooners~ phishy
I wouldn't mind Martin O'Neill as an England manager, but it's anyone's guess as to whether he could be successful in international football. Did someone mention Ferguson as a joke ? Hell would freeze over before I'd support HIM. I'd prefer a foreigner; Ranieri, or Capello, perhaps. The old boys network at the F.A. would surely choose McClaren, but I don't think he's ready. He could one day be an excellent international manager, but not yet.
