Sooooo many comments here. Short term profit vs Long term gains. I'm betting April will pick the first Money vs Development??? It's true, nobody will pay to see unknowns. Solution - play a second, closed door game with the B squad. The expense is getting the team to the site. Once they're there, it's not too expensive to stay longer. Knows who the best are - If she had done better job of managing this, we wouldn't be where we are today. At some point you have to give the older players a pat on the head, a dinner, and a farewell game. They cannot be the best forever and young talent can't develop from the bench. If she doesn't feel the people on the bench are better then the people on the field then she should change the people on the bench. Mia came when she was young because someone had the guts to start her. I don't see April as a risk taker and it will cost her her job in the end The Future ? - I think it will be more of the same. If she doesn't bring in new players by the Mexico game, I would say she's not going to. How many more times do we have to see the asme OLD people play? EVERYONE knows what they can do. Arena treies new people all the time. She's so pig-headed and convinced she's right about this team I think we'll get killed in the Olympics. There is no fixing the situation with her running the team and she seems embedded until her contract runs out. This is nothing more then a Dumb and Dumber situation. SHe's dumb for sticking with what isn't working and the USSF is Dumber for sticking with her. Send her packing, eat her contract, bring in someone with new ideas and that doesn't owe anybody anything and start building for the future before we get smoked in the Olympics.
Hamm not playing at Kansas City Game Just saw an article at the US soccer page: ..U.S. head coach April Heinrichs will bring the same roster to Kansas City that played in the 2003 Women’s World Cup, minus forward Mia Hamm, who is resting and rehabbing several nagging injuries picked up during the month-long tournament. .. Do you think its a specific injury or just bumps and bruises. Maybe she's taking off to get ready for the wedding. She probably wont' play the Mexico game in Dallas either unless she's rested by then. What ya think?
Don't know about Mia, but I don't think Sobrero will play in the Dallas game. She'll be on her honeymoon.
no kidding! what's the accomplishment in saying "we beat italy"? even if it's 10-0 or 1-0. "we beat italy! lets jump for joy!! rah rah"

There's not much new--a few quotes from April that I hadn't heard before. So you bashers and frothers can sharpen your needles. (Sorry, no quotes from Foudy. You'll have to pick on April, Chastain and Fawcett.)
Re: Hamm not playing at Kansas City Game She's been playing with herniated disks in her neck area- think about that for every time you saw her get whammed in the cup. Her hamstring is also a problem.
Read the link-"I've watched the Germany game three times on tape now," she said. "It's difficult to possess the ball against a team as tactically brilliant as Germany.... We gave away too many balls for no reason. All of our players in the back, particularly, need to continue to self-evaluate." Maybe one reason we gave away too many balls because we had 3 people playing germany's 4 at mid?? As for anyone needing to self evaluate, it is Ape-For once she should just admit, she was outcoached.
article about Joy Nice article about Joy. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansa...0@yahoo.com&KRD_RM=5utqrqnnuontussqllllllllll|Jo|Y

Mia in Dallas I'll bet that Mia took off under the assumption that Nomar would be in the World Series right now. She'll probably be on the squad against Mexcio.
I'm not much of a USWNT fan, basically only have time to keep up with the men. I go to all the Wizards games while living in St. Louis, and know quite a few people in and around the Wizards organization. I received a mass mailing about this game about a month ago. Since the loss I hadn't seen anything until this morning. That brings me to my question, are they even expecting a large turnout for this game?
Some articles from today's KC Star: about the newcomers on the team: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/7070947.htm About Carolina Morace and the state of women's soccer in Italy: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansa...0@yahoo.com&KRD_RM=5utqrqnnuontussqllllllllll|Jo|Y The two squads: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/7070942.htm
Great!! Two more Tar Heels!!! thats all we need. Two more unsophisticated "run and gunners" from UNC. Didn't we lose to Germany because we didn't have enough sophisticated players who can hold a ball and unlock an organized defense. Heinrichs needs to look beyond UNC and look at the teams that play a possession (international)game. UNC is one of the reasons we have fallen behind Germany, China and soon Brazil.
Re: Great!! Two more Tar Heels!!! I blamed the unluckiness more than the players, the players were fabulous, really.
