As far as tailgating goes, I've attended many, many games in College Park and never had a problem tailgating--mostly in the parking lot south of Ludwig Field just off Campus Drive. Had a couple cold tailgates this fall on the way to the Terps National Championship last year! As far as the game goes, I remember freshman Robbie Rogers scoring an audacious goal against DCU in Germantown a few years ago in what I think was a 1-1 tie (?). After last year,'s performance, I'm not assuming any level of dominance by United. So Maryland lost their entire defense. How much worse can theirs be than ours?
Fritz Hahn at the Post says the beer is good but it's too kid friendly for a bar. http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/b...d-general-store,1070877.html#editorial-review K
If people can't come by car, you can take the Metro to College Park and then the Shuttle UM to the Stamp Union/HH lot and walk over from there (anyone can take this shuttle, no ID required). Shuttle sched There are also other buses that come through or by the campus- http://www.transportation.umd.edu/alternatives/publictransit.htm K
Will there be NCAA regulations against noisemakers? Will The Crew (the UMCP supporters) come out as well?
Hey Joe, did you see that MD will play Wake in a friendly at RFK immediately before DC United's home opener? http://www.dcexaminer.com/opinion/b...4-A-sweet-opening-act-for-ESPN2-40225212.html
Great, this means I will not get to party with Joe at the tailgate, he'll be inside scribbling madly in his notebook .......... Assuming we can get up and motivated early enough, we plan on trying to make this game. Any advice on getting to Ludwig (from Loudoun) other than beltway to Route 1? Seems simple enough, but I thought I remembered a u-turn or something from 2007 when I was there last.........
This means he'll have to go the long way around the beltway. But it will be more comfortable for him, true.
I heard about this. It's not the DCU home opener (3/28), because I'll be in SC for a 10 game tourney on 3/28 and WF vs Denver on 3/27.
From the Beltway inner loop I prefer getting off on University Blvd and going thru those Latino suburbs. When you go up the big hill approaching the Maryland campus you stay on the right and it'll get you onto Campus Drive from which you can see the lots off to your left. Avoids the Rt 1 traffic. Looking forward to the game, especially since we won't be having any reserve league!
Now ask about Sunday's weather... Looks like DC United weather. The forecast is for 60% chance of rain, high of 38 and breezy
according to that the MD-Wake game is before the game on April 17th... the home opener is March 28th isnt it?
Just as an FYI, Goff has said that if the weather conditions are poor enough, both Maryland and DCU won't hesitate to call off the game.
