These last two posts are the picks for the derby, right?
    Mine are:
    1 - Ronaldinho
    2 - Pato

    Against Cagliari:

    1. Abbiatti - solid as a wall
    2. Seedorf - scored and was really one of our offensive options
    3. Inzaghi - old man can still move

    HM - Beckham and Pirlo
Idiot - Ancelotti for taking off Pippo.

Milan were on their heels for a large portion of this one. Full credit to Cagliari for their attitude.
    1. Abbiatti
    2. Seedorf

HM goes to Pirlo, Beckham, and Zambrotta. If there was anyone on Milan's side with some hops I'm sure Beckham could have had a few assists. Pretty earthbound this Milan V.09.

especially with no pato or borriello and ambrosini on the bench. no aerial threat at all, but yes beckham had some nice deliveries today. not that that's surprising one bit

I'm not surprised either but he isn't a defensive powerhouse so why put him out there with no one to connect with? Sometimes Milan's manager confounds me but it doesn't matter today because he got the result.

Perhaps there are reasons for todays 11 but it does seem strange to have seen some of the faces on the bench. What gives?

well today he had no choice. sheva, pato, borriello, kaka, dinho were unavailable. i think ancelotti really would like to play borriello, when he was fit, he got playing time and did well next to pato, but he is never fit and he (rightly) seems to not trust sheva is worth a damn anymore, and inzaghi has been hurt on and off, plus he is at the age where making super-subs appearances most weeks is probably most advantageous for him.

beckham, though, even if only one striker is playing, and sometimes not a great aerial target to boot has still shown that the balance he gives to the team, the two-way effort, the ability to act as co-distributor with pirlo, and of course, his free kicks and shooting, make him a valuable addition even if most of his crosses are for naught. he has been an excellent pick-up for us. one of the things milan's management, for all their flaws these past couple of seasons, has gotten right

I guess what I'm saying is that I find it hard to believe that all of them are so injured that they couldn't play in this match. Players need rest but it almost came with a high cost today for Milan.

maybe so, granted kaka and borriello were pretty serious multi-match injuries, and sheva is useless anyways, plus with the form pato has been in, i doubt he would have been left in the tribune if he didn't really have a problem...granted, nobody really knows that except the trainers and the coach, so maybe you are right

It will probably be obvious in the next match or so. ;)

To tell you the truth, the moment Sheva came back, I stopped caring about him, but still, how can you or I can call him useless if he is not playing, even when fit, for the reasons that are not entirely connected to his match fitness? I am pretty sure he would have played, if fit, as a sub at least, but when everyone is healthy, he is down there on pecking order along with Viudez and other kids.

I voted for him several times before already :p and i thought today he did everything good, yet Zambrotta really created the chances up front.

Although, now that I think about it, you have a point as Beckham played an unusual role for him and did an outstanding job. I guess I was going for all Italian trio :D

I had to include Pippo and I am so stoked that we have a goalie that plays with his heart and plays well, week in, week out, that I had to include Abbiatti. He's becoming my favorite transfer this season and maybe most important.

agree on abbiati. and the best part is, abbiati was making bad ass saves while he was struggling with cramps. you could see it on his face every time he made a save.

there was a lot of scepticism when he joined us earlier this year. i think we can lay it all to rest.
