Traffic seems to be a big investor in Brazilian football...those were the guys that bought Valdivia for Palmeiras....and they always pop around Chile looking for the next big thing... They must be loaded. Who is/are the owner/s of Traffic?
But the weird thing is, Fierro didn't even shine in the Chilean league. How could Traffic expect a guy that didn't shine in the Chilean league to shine in the Brasilian?
But he did have above avarage performances...but then again, it's easy for mediocre players to do good in a team like Colo-Colo.
There are strong rumors coming out from the media saying that Fierro may go to Palmeiras due to Flamengo's horrible financial crisis that may led them to lose Marcelinho Paraiba, Leo Moura and other players.
I'd be surprised if Palmeiras get him...he's an avarage player that happens to have strong shot...I don't see why he get's these offers in the Brazilian football. I see other players better suited for Brazilian football like Gary Medel from Catolica or Fabian Orellana from Audax.
I doubt anyone has truly scouted him. Since he has hardly played at Fla, other Brazilian teams do not know how he plays. He also still gets called up by you guys, so that's another thing that plays into his favor.
He hasn't been called since a friendly with 'B' teams against Argentina 'B'...last year I think...hmmm...no he did get called again after that but I can't remember...
Last September he came in against Colombia. Fierro went to Flamengo in August, before that with Colo Colo he was getting playing time, scoring goals, assisting players and getting called up by both Acosta and Bielsa.
He came on in the 64th minute of an away game against Botafogo that finished 1-1 with Flamengo equalizing in the dying moments of stoppage time. In the highlights I only saw one cross from him that could have ended in goal.
In that Colo-Colo even I would be scoring goals...his real test was to leave Colo-Colo and try to make it somewhere else on his own...clearly he has failed to do it. (similar case to Mati Fernandez) Only Suazo, Valdivi and Alexis Sanchez have had some level of success from that Colo-Colo team.
Yeah but you can't really compare Fierro to Valdivia,Alexis, or even Matias. Fierro is nowhere near them and never was.
I'm not comparing...I'm just saying...that is you have teammates like that you are bound to get loads of chances to score.
If you're not getting playing time the less impact you will have overall. Look at Matias Fernandez, he has only had over 200 something minutes of actual playing time this season for Villarreal. The only other player to have less total playing time has been the Turk Nihat and that's because he's been injured. This is in stark contrast to how much playing time and the role he gets with Bielsa on la seleccion.
You forgot to include both Vidal and Mancilla and to another extent Alvaro Ormeno since he's a regular starter in a competitive league.
Vidal! Of course...he was another crack. Mancilla was self made though....he was forever a bench of Suazo during that time...the opposite of Fierro who had all the chances.
Matias Fernandez is an "enganche" that's what he is. With Chile that's what he plays, with Colo Colo that's where he played but with Villarreal, Pellegrini has him playing different places, on the far left and far right and sometimes in the middle but never never enough. Add that he doesn't accumulate that many minutes on the field and you're messing with the players confidence and not utilizing his skill.
He's been there for 2 years now, bro. Though I agree he hasn't exactly been deployed in his favored position, don't you think that that is enough time to have shown at least glimpses of his ability? He has been an utter dissappointment. If CC sell Macnelly in June/July, I hope they make a push to sign Matias on loan. That would be a nice fit.
Mancilla was on the field a lot and had a good scoring ratio. Because he was brought to Colo Colo and won a championship it helped launch what has been his career in Mexico.
Dude Riqueleme is an example of how you have to use your player to his full capacity. With Barcelona he was going through similar problems that Matias is going through now. He was constantly being played out of position because he was not fitting tactically and was not getting enough time on the field, everything changed once he went to Villarreal. Pellegrini had Riquelme playing his actual position much like Gorosito was in Catolica. It's like having a player like Aguero playing out of position in Atletico Madrid. He's a "Mediapunta" and that's exactly where they have him playing.
That was some soap opera crap that had a lot to do with locker room politics and premadonna bullshiat and probably really had nothing to do with a players capability on the field. Other players other than Riquelme were cast aside like Sorin so it was mainly due to an internal power struggle. Fernandez gets no playing time and that's just terrible for someone of his ability something that he undeniably has.
