I work right across the street from it and the company I work for almost got to design it; I didn't think it had even opened up yet. They've taken the plywood off the outside walls, but they still had cones and construction crews nearby.

It is a soccer bar??? Whoot whoot! I can walk there for lunch. Nice, a new place to watch Champions League at lunch time.

It's an Irish bar so no soccer but Hurling (the sport not the action) is regularly featured.

They bought the ultra deluxe Irish Pub-in-a-Box kit!

Looks alright, I guess. It'll just be another overpriced lodoish yuppie hangout, though, I think.

Just cause you show soccer and have an Irish flag hanging on the wall does not make you a soccer bar. A lot more goes into it. Plus, I doubt anything on the mall has any authentic value to it.

...such as cynics who won't go to the place because they expect an "authentic" Irish bar in the middle of ********ing Colorado?

You'll fit right in here in these forums, newb.

Place has been open for 4 days, and we have already have 3 experts on the place right here in the forums

That’s the beauty of driving down from Wyoming, you really don’t know what is considered cool and what isn’t. You can relax and enjoy being a dork.

That's funny, the only thing I look for in my soccer bars is that they show soccer. Seems straight forward to me...

Same, I skip all the flags, advertising, and occasional word of mouth. I have my soccer "pub" and will always go to it to watch my games!

Has anyone in here welcomed you to the forum yet?

    I'm sure they must have.

But if not, then allow me to be the first.

    Welcome. :)

now keep your damn opinion to yourself until you have a plus sign next to your name. this is no place for a newbie to express their ideas. also, do not misspell any words and always use the correct punctuation!

Thank you for the warm welcome big soccer veterans (such a bond you all share). I apologize for my gaffe and will ask for your permission before I post next time. Upon looking at the menu, it does seem to have some decent items(such as the "authentic" Galway Cheesesteak). Thus next time I will hesitate to rush to judgement, especially anything on the 16th street mall.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Regardless of whether it's the mall or some back alley around Broadway or the middle of a town in the Rockies, you can't have an "authentic" Irish place in Colorado, by definition. Just as the British Bulldog is not authentic, and just as a place over in the British Isles selling food it claims to be "authentic American" wouldn't be. It's going to be fake - that doesn't change the fact that it's willing to show soccer and try to appeal to that crowd, nor does it confirm your ridiculous non-sequitor: that it can't be a good soccer bar because it sells cheesesteak.

Well I will keep my own "authentic" opinion, you keep yours. Thanks for the advice on keeping the conversation on one topic oh wise sage, I will never introduce cheesesteaks again.:D

You know this is really silly. Who cares, maybe the place is cool, maybe it sucks. I think I was just arguing for the sake of arguing. Cheers.

Yeah, you can see why this place is rocking.

But don't be discouraged. It gets better, or worse, depending on your perspective.

After a few more posts we'll be able to tell you about your family background, what grade level of education you have had, and all kinds of fun stuff. ;)

There was a good article on this place in the Sunday Rocky. It is the first American location of an Irish chain, so there is some authenticity.

Takin it a bit personally, eh? I fail to see the big deal about folks being cynical about the whole "Irish Pub" thing. Then again, maybe that's because I ran across them quite literally in the middle of Siberia back in the mid 90s.

My only concern about Irish pubs is they seem to be pandemic and growing exponentially. But they seem to fit the current zeitgeist for a "bar" and they are all packed with money spending ya-hoos. That said, I dont seek them out or religiously avoid them either. But I've seen them in Bangalore, Venice, Casablanca, Kathmandu, Madrid, London, New Orleans and even one in Galway so they must make money for someone.

On to more serious matters, will this joint be showing the CL tomorrow? How is the viewing set up, I want to see both the Arsenal-Roma and the ManU-Inter matches over lunch.

    Any advance reconnaissance?

It's not remotely personal - if my firm had actually gotten the bid, it may have been. I'm only annoyed because this guy was ruling out a soccer-fan-embracing bar because of something completely not relevant to its ability to be a good soccer bar. Who cares what they serve on the menu or if they call themselves Irish or Italian or Ethiopian or anything besides Coloradoan? Whatever country they choose to slap onto their restaurant as a style is going to be inauthentic by definition - so don't let that ruin the possibility of a good experience.
