This isn't for aggressiveness or ruthlessness, but for just plain cheap play. I nominate Charmaine Hooper. She has a history, resorting to a dive in the penalty area in the 1989 NCAA final (it was NC State's only goal), through her Atlanta Beat career, as well as the six yellow-cardable fouls in the WWC03 bronze-medal match. I mean, it looked like Hooper threw a punch into Wambach's stomach in the midfield in the second term!
I second that emotion! She's the Conrad Dobler of women's soccer. Her reputation needs to be shared and propogated so that referees and assistant referees will look for that crap that happens during the play and after the play. The referee in yesterday's game did not have the gravitas to call the shoulder flip Charmaine used on Tiff. That Australian referee looked stupid and toothless with her lack of performance yesterday. I could recall 4 infractions that were YC worthy, but I think we are on the same page.
The only male player comparable to Hooper is former Wimbledon defender Vinnie Johnes. They are both to slow to stop their opponent, so they hack them, but i don´t think that Hooper will become that famous as Vinnie was for his bonecrushing game.
Scurry Have to be Briana Scurry. After that terrible hockey check she made on Ljunberg. Cuuldn't believe she didn't get red carded.
The dirtiest player is Wambach in the USA team. She is also cynical on top of her deplorable behavior. And her own coach lets her get away with it.
The Wombat never dives! She just... hits the turf really easily. BTW, the dirtiest female player ever is Hooper. She tried to kill the entire frontline of the US yesterday in the 3rd place match.
if the league somehow survive, no need to call her back, let her work in wallmart or wait the table or something...
These comments seems to me to come from an anti-Beat, anti-Canada fan. I seems to me that you do not like your women soccer team playing in championship playoff games. She gets the team to DANCE and if referee continues not give her any red and yellow cards (for her bad fouls), I'll take her on my team everytime. The championship games are where all the fame and money is at.
Bivens If anyone has doubts about whether or not Bivens is a dirty player, just take a look at a tape of the 2002 semifinal match between the Courage and the Beat.
