I am suprised not to see this on your board. 20 year old promising Canuck, played for Feyenoord but was homesick and came home after retiring from football altogether. Then training with Vancouver.. and now signed with Seattle Sounders http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/sounders/2009/01/29/fc_adds_lensky.html As TFC supporters we are a little annoyed that you guys signed a Canuck with tonnes of potential, however since his reason for leaving Europe was to be closer to home, there is no way he would come to TFC.
Another midfielder? Good golly miss molly! What kid of formation are we fielding 1-8-1? But good young talent is always welcome--hope the young man does well.
Meh. Canadians have a habit of amping up local talent beyond what they truly are. This is a nation that still has its soccer program in utter disarray. And of course TFC - is a joke competitively. The kid made no noise in Europe - whines about it - screams he's going to retire and now wants a reprieve close to home? And he plays midfield, where we are already stacked? I say it again: meh.
I disagree WS, the kid is 20, played for the Canadian U-23 at the Olympic qualifying tournament and from the article it sounds like Feyenoord saw a future for him at their club. There's a long list of impact players that have a similar resume in the MLS. Guys who went to Europe and for whatever reason couldn't adapt their game so they ended up back here. I don't see that big a difference between Lenksy's resume and a guy like John Thorington. Edit: Well now its being reported that Lensky won't be joining the Sounders so "Meh"
The Seattle times, at the end of the day 8 report, noted that Canadian defender Jacob Lensky did not accept his invitation to go on trial with the team. So, nope, doesnt look like he'll be playing for the Sounders in '09. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2008690113_soundersglance31.html
Funny case about this kid. He was training with the Whitecaps last week, then word was he was going to Seattle, and now that turns out to be false. Wonder if he will end up back in vancouver
Easy come Easy go Did he sign? Times says no. Any way Lansky goes Doesn't really matterr to me... To me....
Now it would seem he is back in... "• The team added former Feyenoord (Holland) midfielder Jacob Lensky, a Vancouver, B.C., native, to the roster. Lensky wasn't with the team for practice Thursday but is expected Friday." never mind... old article
