All of them are running with various guises of that headline. The Guardian normally is a good paper but does on occasion betray its Manchester Guardian roots when reporting on Liverpool. I think Benitez also highlights one of the problems with Keane and, for that matter, any player coming from an inferior side. There is a step up in performance required (Pennant failed to appreciate that, Crouch did) and it seems to me, judging from the training ground noises, that Keane finally does. Challenge
If you don't start out Keane, don't expect him to deliver as a sub. He's just not that kind of player.
True but the foursome of Masch, Xabi, Gerrard and Torres is much stronger than Xabi, Gerrard, Keane and Torres. Its probably too late in this season for Rafa to leave Keane in Stevie's position and risk us conceding more goals and not being able to score as many.
sorry - for some reason I took that to be a speculated omission - but indeed it talks about him already having been omitted .
Yeah. But I'm very sad. I'm sitting here watching it on Sky(I live in London) with my #7 Keane shirt on thinking about our PL title that we've pissed away and now my fave player is leaving. On top of that I'm watching Alex and the rest of the Chelsea D hold us off. And Ashley Cole just missed a sitter!
We've pissed nothing away. Did you see Torres anywhere there? Or were you just watching alex and ashley?
Heard second hand at the boozer today that Robbie has been sold back to Spurs, and they didn't want to risk an injury. Also, we getting Lenon and either Palacios or Jenas. Again, this is the rumour going around.
It would be hilarious if we got Palacios - especially after how the Utd forum was DROOLING over him this month.
It's plausible, but I don't think it will happen. But maybe it will. Where would Palacios or Jenas play for us? I mean, I know we could use Lennon as another possibility on the wing. Also, I don't think Palacios could play for us. He has made an appearance for Wigan and Spurs already.
ok, so just imagine we signed Barry instead of Keane. Granted, not too many saw Xabis return to form and then some, so there is that silver lining thing, but the way think the team would set up if fully healthy: Rieara would get 2/3 of the left wing starts. Barry would spell him 1/3 of the time. Mascherano would get 2/3 of the CDM starts. Barry would spell him 1/3 of the time. Gerrard and Alonso would get occasional days off. Barry would sub in there. The loss of quality would none. Barry would have lots of playing time overall. Every touch Lucas has taken this year would have been taken by Gareth Barry. Every touch Keane has taken this year would have been taken by Babel. Babel and Benayoun would have much more playing time and be whining much less. fck.
According to the Guardian and the Independant he's a goner. £15 million back to Spurs. No other players involved.
