The original shot hit the crossbar, consequently it bounced off the goalie. Without the goalie's presence there, it would not have gone in. Thus, (and even though in today's game it may not be considered one--the goal tends to be given to the shooter, generally) it is an own goal. Just thought I would clarify that for you.
The goalie was in the middle where the player kicked to, if he wasn't there then the player would have probably kicked a lighter shot considering he wouldn't have to try to beat the goalie and that would have probably gone in anyways since his angle was right on target and the goalie wouldn't have been there to block it. Different circumstances cause different actions.
Hernandez didnt come from the Penarol system though. And the manager Aguirre played for Penarol. Our youth system is really weak. If you look at the great Uruguayan players playing overseas, most emerged from Danubio or Defensor. Now we are supossedly rebuilding our youth system, but it takes awhile
I am talking about what really happened. Shot taken, goalie there: without him there, ball does not go in. I can't speculate on every single possible scenario. I just analyze the one that happened yesterday. The ball hit the crossbar, bounced off the GK, and went in. And at any rate, is this really worth arguing about?
Did anyone see the goal Uruguay scored yesterday that was called back because of "offsides"? At the time, the score was 1-1, and Uruguay went down soon after. It could've cost us the game
Like in the family guy episode.... Venezuela must feel like a "midget amongst dwarfs" lol .... no offense intended... I just had to use that one.
Uruguay looks very very good, they'll qualify to the World Cup for sure, and have a good shot to be the champions of the Sudamericano.
I hope so. With the Uruguayan luck though, I dont know. The one time we do good on the group stage of anything, it doesent help us one bit in the next round
