I'm a St. Mary's College student and I really want to watch the big game with other US fans. Are there any bars or anything where a lot of US fans are going to watch the game around the Bay Area? Like is there a "US Soccer bar" I should know about or anything?

You should know that the Galaxy suck.*

The Brits in SJ should be rockin and the Ultra's should be able to tell you about SF and San Leandro. Of course if you show up in your Beckham jersey you might be shown the door.

*Sorry, you're a Galaxy fan, you already know that.

Yep, and your precious little smurfs don't...

Gotta love Quake fans. I ask a question about the US national team and you bring up the Galaxy three times. I'm glad we mean so much to you.

Anyway, I'm not here to troll. So where are these places in SF and San Leandro? San Jose's a bit too far and BART doesn't go there...

Just look up Pubs in SF and surrounding areas. you should fine a good list.

And c'mon. Did you not expect someone to say something about you being a Gayaxy fan? Its like a Red Sox fan in New York, or a Dodger fan in SF. Its GOING to happen lol

No, I definitely expected it. :D

I already looked some up, but I have no idea if US fans actually go and watch the games there. Do you know of any famous places that are known for having big US games or anything like that?

    In San Fran.
You can check "El Farolito" Mission and 17th (do not root for U.S. or wear red if you want to live)

Kezar (by Kezar stadium) is more of a U.S place.

Yeah, as far as I know, Kezar would be your best bet. It's the most friendly of the soccer bars, which usually translates to US fans, but I've never watched a US international match in a bar. Beyond that, any place that shows soccer in San Francisco usually has an affiliation with a different country, like Ireland, Italy, Argentina, or Mexico.

But since you're a scum fan, why not try dressing up as Uncle Sam and going to any bar in the Mission! That's totally what I would do.

So what do you think the better place to watch the game is, the Englander or the Mad Dog?

Mad Dog might be better if you want to do something afterwards or before. The Englander is in a strip mall in a suburban downtown with nothing really to do in the area.

Anybody know of a place on the Peninsula to watch the game at? I work in Burlingame and it seems as if there are no soccer bars in the area. I might have to just watch it at Knuckles.

Is the Mad Dog close to any BART station?

No--unless you want to walk up Haight from Market... :D

Actually if you're taking BART--you want to get off at one of their Market Street stations, and then transfer to the MUNI platform. From there you want to take the N-Judah line. When it exits the subway and onto the surface you want to get off at the first surface stop (Church and Duboce). Walk one block to the west and then go north on Fillmore. Three blocks up is Haight. Go west and Mad Dog is on the north side of the street. Just look for the folk. :)

Sweet, and are the BART market stations like Embarcadero/Montgomery/Powell?

    Yes. Also Civic Center
Another option would be exiting at Civic Center, or Powell, and then taking a bus 71 that goes up the Haight street. There's a bus stop just by the Mad Dog in the Fog.
And, I think, 71 is not even the only bus that goes from Market to Haight.

Also from the 16th St Bart station there is the 22 Filmore bus that stops on the corner of Filmore and Haight about a half a block from Mad Dog
