Hes probably more of a replacement for Marmol.

According to Arroyve, Guti is now Condes agent and reports that Conde is getting Visa issues worked out.

I doubt that Diego would take a client who would be nutty enough to hold out after already having some negative pub from last yr.

He has a solid resume. Maybe they have plans to move Conde up to d-mid and this guy to CB. I think he would get a decent size salary and I dont think we would bring him here to ride the bench.

His resume is great. Maybe he can be a mentor to Baky and teach him to relax on the ball, and make better passes. I was wondering when we would start hearing names of who may be coming to camp.

Not to rain on any parade on that idea.. But Kuffour wasnt exactly the most disciplined player in his career. The guy was a pure talent and physical beast on the ball , but he was known to make some costly undisciplined mistakes.Still , a very interesting rumour and one that would be a coup for marketing to the city's African community and he still may have some legs in him to be a force in MLS.

I agree. I haven't seen him play for quite a while, but assuming he hasn't lost more than half a step, I think he could be a dominant force in the middle. He will make a careless mistake or two but in MLS, most teams get away with that, particularly when you have a good athletic keeper like Busch.

If there is any truth to this, then my guess is that they aren't counting on Conde. As much as I would love to have both, I don't think that is feasible to spend that kind of dough on players suited for the same spot. Not when we already have Baky as well.

We spent 100k on Marmol and never used him...we coulda gave that money to Jim Curtin...and if he went up against Marshall in the ECF...Curtin woulda got his head on that ball, keeping the score 1-0 Fire...maybe...and we woulda been in the final...maybe...

Maybe he'll take Conde spot in the back, and Conde will move to the defensive midfielder spot.

No. MLS will have a new 'Blanco Rule' which allows a 'Designated Defender' to play in his stead. Logan Pause will be Blanco's 'DD'. When the Fire lose the ball, Blanco will stand still, and Pause can then play.

    from luis blog

"NOTES: According to Fire technical director Frank Klopas, the team has not been in talks with Ghana's Samuel Osei Kuffour. Klopas said it's nothing more than a rumor. In this case, I believe the Fire. ... MLS will release its 2009 regular season schedule tomorrow at 11 a.m."

No, I'd move Pause to the bench where he belongs!
