You mean to tell me that none of you guys saw the 80s movie about the beautiful young welder who worked in a Pittsburgh steel mill and followed her dream to become a flash disher?

Living in Pittsburgh and being a welder? What more is there to dream about? What is the title of that movie, want to see it.

After some not so thourough research I think you mean: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085549/

Still don't get the "dish" thing but maybe I should focus on something more important on a Sunday night. Which socks to wear tomorrow for instance and how CD is doing, any news?

Radio silence is officially over! Come on buddies give us so inside on what's going on over in California. Any progress? Any chance to starting position tonight? Whatever information is better than no information. :)

I would be surprised if Davies didn't get the start at forward alongside Ching. He's the best forward at the camp.

The game is on tonight at 8:30 EST, which is pretty late for Sweden.

Not that there's much daytime there to begin with.

    Not much room for him.

Defense always can take forwards out of the game by double teaming everyone.

After that, the midfield has to pinch in.

Charlie couldn't even turn on anyone because the ball didn't get to him quickly enough and in space, forcing him to play back to the goal most of the time.

I blame the coach who isn't named Tony Gustafson.

Sidefootsitter- I like your posts, and I am not a big fan of Bradley...but you are picking the wrong spot to advance the 'Bradley sucks' argument and/or MLS is crap argument. Klaejsten had a hatrick (a pure MLS player to date) and Davies- the Swedish marvel- looked like crap, formation or not.

    Davies will bounce back.

If you are going to criticize anything, criticize Bob's decision not to include Charlie for the 2nd half. But Bob can't trap, pass or shoot the ball for Charlie. He also can't beat guys 1v1 for Charlie, no matter how bad inadequate you or I may think he is for the job.

Davies was ineffective and subsequently the first to be subbed out. I somewhat agree with sidefootsetter in that the tactics and personnel weren't set up for Davies to really flourish given the player's current stage of development.

It was clear to me that Bradley used last night's game to get Ching a long run out in case he needs to use him against Mexico on Feb. 11 and
Ching is not a good counterpart to Davies...if you partner Davies with Landon or Jozy and their speed it will open up space for CD, or Dempsey with his passing ability...then he'll look good but it's not his time so the tenor of a friendly is not to maximize Charlie.

Davies just hasn't played much with Ching, so he wasn't reading what Ching did. There's no reason why Davies couldn't take advantage of the work Ching puts in, but Charlie doesn't seem to have much experience playing with a Ching-type player (and he'll need to get better at this if he wants more playing time with the national team).

So, let me make this an NFL analogy - you play a linebacker at a defensive tackle spot and the guy gets wiped out repeatedly by guys who weigh 75 pounds more than him but you'd still blame the linebacker?

I'd blame the moron who has him playing in the wrong spot.

    But that's just me.

Cooper for Davies was a proper sub ... if you intended to play both of them around the penalty box.

Swedes were conceding the high ball by dropping off and a good coach would have added size in order to win more crosses.

Bradley instead moved Cooper wide and Rolfe into the middle, as a supporting striker.

So, naturally, Chris got lost in traffic while Kenny wasn't capable of beating anyone off the dribble out wide.

But I am sure all of the above was Charlie Davies' fault because, clearly, the guy doesn't know how to play a decent Swedish opposition.

It's not like he scored 14 goals for a mediocre Hammarby team or anything.

Can you explain further how that's a relevant analogy? As far as I could tell, Davies didn't line up at sweeper. Sometimes forwards get shut down for a half so I'd like to hear further how all the blame falls on Bob, which is what your analogy suggests.

It is more comparable to say that he was moved from tackle to center.

Or from playing in the slot as a WR to be asked to play on the flanks. Different routes, for sure, but an elite player will adjust and make something happen if that's where his team needs him.

From tackle to center? Whose side are you on?

a good soccer player can combine with different styles. Ching is a classic center-forward, a number 9. It is up to the player to adapt to the team, not usually up to a team to adapt to the player. So Charlie did not have a good game, save the excuses.

Unfortunately, despite a year and a half in Europe, Davies still seemed to possess a "college touch".

I also realize one can't go by a simple 45 minutes of action and both nerves and rust probably came into play.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play some more and continue to develop.

Neither Ching nor Davies saw much of the ball at all in the first half, unless they were coming back for hold up touches. There was no service whatsoever after Bornstein's early short flick cross.
