Ok, so how many of you would be interested in flying as a group to a Quakes game in Seattle this coming season? I know the schedule is not out yet, but, I think it would be cool if a large contingent of Quakes fans could journey north to see the team battle the Sounders. Ideally, a weekend afternoon start would be best, since we could get in and out of Seattle on the same day. A Saturday night game would require a Saturday night hotel stay, and then a Sunday flight home to San Jose. If you would be willing to do it, list how many would be in your party. If there is sufficient interest I will take this further and contact airlines, the Sounders, etc. This is just a priliminary poll, I will do another one when the exact date(s) are known, since more people might be able to make a summer trip as opposed to spring or fall. Thanks.

Well, I was going to include a poll, but, then was advised to hold off on it until the schedule is known, since if the second leg of the Heritage Cup is in Seattle it will be awarded there. In the meantime I guess we can still talk and guage interest.

Due to familial health circumstances I am approximately 15% in favor of making said trip during the 2009 campaign.

What is ticket availability? I was going there the 3rd week of March, so I looked for tix to their Thursday night match vs NYRB and the lower bowl of Qwest Field looked booked.

I'm really hoping the Heritage Cup will take off! I'll be there either way, but yes it would be particularly attractive if that is when the cup is being presented. Can't wait to see that schedule.

Listed capacity so far is 24,500. They have sold about 18,500 full season tickets. From what I have heard they have not started selling smaller packages or individual tickets yet. Best thing to do is to go to their website and inquire there.

I know I and two friends were planning on making the journey. Make it 3 more Quakes in Seattle! (Depending of course on ticket availability)

I'll make it! Of course, I'm just going to drive up. But I definitely want to hang with the Quakes away fans. We NEED to drink before the game at Elysian Fields right across the street from the stadium. It's a monster brew pub!!

It's hard to imagine Qworst "selling out." The place seats 65K. Finding seats for a group might be more difficult though.

    Anyway, should be fun.

    GOOOOOO QUAAAAAKES!!!!!!! :D

They won't be opening the whole place, though.

Do you really think they will turn away fans if they have "too many?" I mean they might, I'd just be surprised.

They have to anticipate the size of the crowd. They cannot simply go understaffed.

Sure, but if they have 18.5K season tickets, and they get a group sale (in advance of course) of 50 or so Quakes fans, plus whatever other single tickets, small packages, and other groups, they should know in advance more or less how big the crowd will be and what their staffing requirements will be.

A large walkup crowd would be different, but we're talking about acquiring tickets well in advance.

If it is a Saturday game and I have a Friday off (my job gives us 1 or 2 Fridays off per month), Mrs. BnB and myself would go. We would crash at my in-laws in Portland and drive in most likely.

I am thinking about it too, but it depends on the date of the game.
Probably my gf and I will fly there, spend a day or so, catch the game and then drive to Vancouver. Definitely we want to sit with the Quakes supporters. We had a blast last summer at HDC catching the Chivas game.

For late night eats go to the Hurricane Cafe across the street from the Needle. Tons of beers and great drunk food

But, it is on the other end of downtown from Qwest Field, (i.e. not in walking distance). There are plenty of eating and drinking establishments near Qwest.
