Uhhhhhhh........it doesn't matter. People can root for whatever team they want. Regardless of where you're from. It's just a game people.
"It's just a game people." Oh okay. Maybe you should see what is happening on the BIG SHUFFLEBOARD website.
Except that any Mexican fan could pretend to be Guatemalan(or Puerto Rican or etc) wear an American jersey+funny, talk shit about Mexico and get his ticket. You do realize how badly people want these tickets and the lengths they will go to? So what, you're going to shadow the guy the whole game to make sure he doesn't even clap politely for the Mexican Anthem? How paranoid can you be! But yes, sometimes it's a good time to remember...that it's a game. I mean...seriously......who you root for is a personal decision and honestly rooting Mexico and the US isn't mutually exclusive. Just like one can be Mexican and American. *gasp* Blasphemy! It's even more ironic when you consider how dependent the two countries are with each other. They're the opposite of enemies they're one of each others closest allies. In soccer, yes...they're "hated" rivals but thats about it. I think we're getting way way way off topic and should stick to talking about the game and ticket sales and encouraging American supporters. Although if you ask me, I would rather have hardcore supporters of each team filling the stadium. Rather than a bunch of casual fans (regardless of who they root for). If someone is willing to go the lengths that I outlined above, then goddamn...thats what I call passion.
I agree 100%. I would want the stadium to be filled with hardcore supporters of both teams, people that will get behind their team and create an atmosphere. I don't care which team someone is supporting as long as they are supporting them strongly.
Just because they have other things they can do doesn't mean we shouldn't do what we can to minimize their presence. Dealing in person is wise.
Agreed. Love the atmosphere at these games. Plus, half the fun of the U.S.-Mexico games is enjoying the faces of all the El Tri fans after they lose
I dont really care how people get there tickets and who they support during the match. There is just no way in hell I would let a ticket that was under my control for this match slip into the hands of someone who will support Mexico. If the Mexican fans find a way to get tickets in a fair way, good for them, they are clearly hardcore supporters and I don't mind them being there, as long as the US fans are in the majority. The atmosphere with 100% USA fans would be great, the atmosphere with 20-30% mexican fans would be incredible. As far as true home-field advantage...we are the better team and it's in freakin Columbus in February. Any US fan should do what it takes to make sure USA fans are in the seats you acquire. If there are Mexicans there, yell "dos a cero" at them and have a good time!!!!
I will treat Mexican fans with the same respect I would like to get from them when I go to Mexico City in August; I hope others will do the same. I know quite a few of us want to go to Mexico City.
Stuff like this pisses me the f uck off. Of course they do it like ************** from the upper deck. One of these days we're going to retaliate. On the field of course...because we'll never have the numbers. But I wish we did. I think I'll go watch Greenstreet Hooligans now.
It hasn't been working for me either, for at least 3 weeks now. I emailed them and haven't heard anything back. I hope they're focusing more on recruiting Neven than their IT support.
Haha, yeah I know we are. They should have started chanting "Free beer, free beer!" or clap x9 "free beer!" It could have been worse... http://machochip.com/2008/05/veracruz-fans-are-really-viole-1.php
I'm getting a good feeling about the lateness of the sale of tickets. Me thinks USSF is being sly like a fox about something. I hope so.
Gametime hasn't been announced yet, so I am thinking the tix sales are on hold until they can get a TV slot worked out (maybe they want ESPN or ESPN2 instead of Classic and thus would play a 5pm start to fit it in around basketball). No other real explanation for not giving the starting time yet.
They probably want ESPN2, but the game will not be at 5pm. If it's on at 5, it won't matter what channel it's on, unless it's ABC...just not a good time slot for anyone. I'm sure they're trying to get a 7pm start, as 9pm is Duke-UNC and although they did it last year, I'm sure they don't want to compete in that timeslot if they don't have to.
