The game was awesome... Both Phily and La Raza fought hard all game long.

Both teams did not capitalize on Power Play opportunities on the 1OT... La Raza ended up winning on a restart goal by Victor Quiroz just 30 something second into the 2OT.

KiXX FALL IN MONTERREY , 16-14, IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

Philadelphia has now dropped four consecutive decisions

Monterrey, Mexico, December 28, 2008 – The Philadelphia KiXX were defeated by the hosting Monterrey La RaZa, 16-14 in double overtime, in front of 3,725 fans at the Arena de Monterrey. With the loss, the team’s second in Monterrey in three days and fourth consecutive overall, Philadelphia remains one win shy of 250 for its 13-year history and is now 0-4 since recording their 249th victory.

Philadelphia native Pat Morris opened the scoring with a two-point score from teammate Ricardinho at 2:25 of the first quarter; with the tally, both players extended their individual point streaks to six games. Defender Ryan Heins notched his second two-point score in as many games at 7:22 to extend the KiXX advantage to four, 4-0. Ivan Medina responded for the hosts with a two-point notch from Victor Quiroz at 12:18. Morris quickly answered, a mere 38 seconds later, to regain Philadelphia ’s four-point lead, 6-2, and close out the quarter.

For the second consecutive outing, Monterrey seized the momentum in the second stanza, rattling off four unanswered two-point scores to take an 10-6 lead, before midfielder David Castellanos found the back of the net for Philadelphia at 12:56 of the period. Media tallied twice, while Byron Alvarez and Armando Teran each registered a two-point goal.

KiXX midfielder Ptah Myers recorded an unassisted two-point score less than 30 seconds :)28) and then added his second notch of the evening at the 10:29 mark to regain Philadelphia ’s lead to 12-10. Two minutes later, forward Mark Ughy connected on a pass from Mariano Bollella to close out the quarter knotted at 12-12.

Teran posted his second tally of the contest on a feed from Genoni Martinez at 8:51 to give the hosting La RaZa a two-point lead, 14-12. With only 28 seconds remaining in regulation, Myers registered his first hat trick of the season, connecting on his third goal of the affair to second the game into overtime tied at 14-14; KiXX player/coach Don D’Ambra recorded the assist.

After a scoreless overtime period, Quiroz finished a pass from Martinez just 36 seconds in the second extra stanza to give Monterrey a 16-14 victory.

Notes: Tonight’s contest was the team’s first this season in which an extra stanza was necessary to determine a winner; Philadelphia is now 17-21 in overtime games and 1-3 in double overtime in the team’s 13-year history. The KiXX are now 1-5 versus Monterrey over the last two seasons. Philadelphia native Pat Morris and midfielder Ricardinho each extended their point streaks to five games.

I see. This year's Monterrey attendance gimmick is all the crowds are 3,720-something. (I think 3 of 4 have been). Last year it was multiples of 500. Kind of a neat tradition they're starting.

Next year it should be repeating numbers like 3,333 and 4,444.

    Omaaar, NOW they're 3-0 against Philadelphia :)

I think in all honesty nobody is even counting the attendance figures in Monterrey. Someone is just guestimating...

Omaar.. why are most games on Thurs nights? Is Friday a Mexican drinking holiday with no work:)

NSL.. 3333 or 4444 still quadruples the standing room only rec center crowds at all PASL "arenas"

    gee, you guys think? :p

I would say Arena commitments, what event do you think will get more people (hence more priority on scheduling)... an indoor soccer game or a concert?

In all fairness, this season has featured more friday and sunday games... last season was all thrusday night games.

    hell yeah....

Some random things i just recalled from last night game...

    - Corona beer was seen as a much needed new sponsor for La Raza (after Carta Blanca bailed this season)

    - The next PASL Cup game was being hyped as vs. "los Dallas Outlaws", obviously for people to recall the hatred towards the Sidekicks...:p

    - Ricardinho was red carded on the 2nd Qtr for Misconduct (He was shouting crap to the referees)

    - Steve Reese played goalie for Monterrey, he had an average game, but came out big in the overtimes. (beats me why Geyer benched Bonti, since he played decently the last game)

Here's a video of the goals of the game (courtesy of elnorte.com)

Take it to the Big Soccer Indoor Soccer folk to look at the negative instead of commenting on the goals....

But there's 2 of those logos actually... :p

Beats me why they have not changed them for a PASL-Pro logo and a NISL logo.
