Don't get defensive - he was already in position and just had to do his thing once the ball found him. Nothing more...nothing less.

My point was...I think it was more a defensive error than a product of a great play by Fulham!

I'm not trying to argue with you or attack you. He did his thing. I was just pointing out that it was as not easy as you said(like my grandma could score that easy).:D

I agree with your point. If the Chelsea defense did their job, there would be no goal.

If your grandmother played football for a living, I believe she could. ;)

I agree that Chelsea dominated the game and should have gotten 3 points today, but lets give Dempsey some props. He was easily Fulham's best player today. He won countless 50-50 balls and was precise with his passing. He finished his chances and that's all you can ask of anyone. Plus, that header was in traffic and he placed it perfectly. With a number of other players in Europe struggling to find the field at all, this is something for us to be truly proud of.

That wasn't a tap in. There are forwards on our NT that wouldn't score that.

    Here is were you and I disagree....Chelsea should not have gotten 3 points for 2 reasons;

    1. Chelsea allowed to get scored upon - TWICE, including a 90 minute goal.
    2. Out of 24 shots (eight on goal) Chelsea weren't able to score more than their opponents.

"Should have", "would have", "could have" mean jack...

Bullocks. The co-ordination, and technique to chest trap the ball and tap it in with a his right foot over a diving Cech was pure class. He was so good he made it look easy. Sure alot of players like Messi, and Ronaldo can do it like it's nothing... but they are Ronaldo and Messi. :D

Chelsea's shit is another team's gold, but you wouldn't know that being a ManU fan and all.

Those were both good finishes, below and far below 50% chances for an EPL forward. The placement on both were perfect. Chest trap, to outside of the foot volley, far post between the keeper and a defender, all done quickly and smoothly? Next a falling backwords, looping header that hits side-netting?

As far as the subject of this thread goes it has been obvious for some time. When Clint first moved over I called him a bigger, more flashy Tim Cahill.

Just to chime in, that first goal was not was easy as Dempsey made it look. The calm chest trap, the side foot volley - not to mention the deft push off of the defender to open up some space- were all quality. Sure, not a golazo, but Dempsey made that goal look easier than it was.

The 2nd one, especially given the circumstances, was just extraordinary.

I dunno what the fuss is about on dempseys goal! It was a very nice one, he chests it, has his back to the goal with the keeper to his right, some pro players dont have imagination or balls to do that out side of the boot flick he did, especially in england where IMO they lack a little technically but make up more inphysical pace and strength!

To all the haters that say it wasnt all that, what would you need for you to call it a golazo? For him to back heel it in at an angle when it drops from his chest??

I think it was a nice goal especially for an american player!

Dempsey's goal(first one) was nice for anyone. I don't know why people think that was so garbage. If you want to talk about garbage goals look at 10 of Anelka's 12 this year and get back to me. Good skill by Clint to bring it down and then punch it in. Not the greatest goal ever but certainly a good show of skill.

I agree. I'm not sure what game the guy who's a Chelsea fan (and a fan of like 9 other teams) was watching, but CD's first goal was a lot less of a garbage goal than FL's first. And talk about a goal being the result of a defensive F-up--Fulham was horrible in conceding the first one...

Both of the second strikes were nice, but, come on, I think you'd have to go with CD's. Didn't see the whole game. But CD has scored 3 goals in 3 games for a team that isn't exactly a scoring inferno. None of the goals were luck or garbage goals. Give the guy a bit of cred.

Re: Clint Dempsey: I have showed I can play at this level

To get back to the broader perspective that I believe the OP intended for this thread (since it was posted prior to Deuce's excellent performance), Deuce has been playing better and more consistently as the season has progressed. Obviously enough so that a pretty decent manager sees him fit to start in a top-ten Premiership team. (And the way Fulham has been playing, I fully expect them to compete for a spot in the top seven.) Deuce has pretty much locked up that RM position, and is clearly more comfortable with it than he was last year.

Hopefully Deuce can keep his form. To those who would rather see him at one of the big clubs, the only benefit I can see is that it would force him to raise his level of play yet again. But there's obviously risk involved; Demsey is the type of player that needs to be starting and playing lots of minutes to stay in form. I say as long he's improving at Fulham, there's no need to move to a bigger club.

Re: Clint Dempsey: I have showed I can play at this level

    I watched the Fulham-Chelsea game...you?

    and BTW...Three teams.

Borussia Dortmund, my grandmother's hometown and Westfalen Stadium that fills me up with excitement every time I get a chance to return to Germany.

Barcelona SC in Guayaquil, a city I spent some time in as a teenager and was able to go to my first Copa Libertadores match and introduced to SA football

Chelsea, the team I follow in the PL since so much of it is thrown at football fans by the media, I found one I like to follow...

Now explain how my following other clubs has anything to do with my opinion.

So you don't know which game I saw yet you admit you didn't watch it yourself?

Agree, it was a rebound, but again, what does the quality of Lampard's first goal have to do with the discuccion at hand?

Also true...but they (Fulham) played a great majority of the game like that and only Chelsea is to blame for not being able to capatalize more on Fulham's errors in the midfield and defense. Again...what is your point?

I think everyone here did...no one called it a "grabage" goal or a "luck" goal...and no one is taking credit away from him and though it was a great goal to watch, I personally don't think it was that difficult of a goal to make.

I would have been more surprised had he not been able to score that after it came right at him. He was already on the line and really just had to put it in after bouncing it off his chest and onto his foot...

Get back to you with what? Has anyone said that Anelka's goals were beautiful? That they were spectacular? That they were top class? No, so I'm not sure what it has to do with CD goals.
