Funny. I live in Davenport and hope to go to a game to just see the level of play and the size of the crowd. With the weather, it might not be unitl February, though unless January gets to be a lot more forgiving than December. (I'm sure someone will say something about hope the team is still operating then.)

My wife's step father has an adult daughter that lives in Rockford. I'll have to ask her over Christmas if she's aware of the Rockford Rampage. I don't know how big of a sports fan she is, so I don't know if it will be indicative of anything if she hasn't, but will if she has.

    Iowa need a professional team
You have some good college teams but you need a professional team of some kind
I have been through Iowa and even went to the Field of Dreams - you got that going for you
There is no professional team between Chicago & Denver right?? well except the Rampage

Indoor soccer is a good fast moving game - I had not been until 5 years ago and now have only missed 1 game and have traveled to Rockford(last year) & up to Milwaukee to watch
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoy the games
DO NOT go to a Twisters/Rampage game - others will be good games although on the flip side if you do go to a Twisters/Rampage game you will most likely see the Rampage win - but in this sport you never know

All 3 numbers appear to be made up...um, no...actually they were true. You have no idea, other than being a jacka$$ who posts a blog on a radio website and have a serious issue with the Blast for no good reason.

I had friends at those games, and they think the numbers may be made up for the Rampage as they tried to guesstimate a number and it was well under 1,000 - they had a number closer to 500
No one has a problem with the Blast - they will go undefeated and be the NISL champs as it was designed unless the Kixx win a game against them in which case they may lose one

I was in Rockford for the Blast game thank you. And tickets sold and people present are a sometimes a different issue. Phil, keep hiding behind your blog and changing your screenname, we're still going to know you are an asshole.

see, despite being a molecular whatever he is, matt don't read so well.

so i'll say it again: i don't have a problem with the blast. i respect them as a team and what they've accomplished on the field. ed hale is apparently not well liked by his peers and whines a lot. fine, whatever. owners do worse things.

what i have a problem with is soccer-boy and his hero-worship of ed hale and his complete shilling for a league that's marginally better than the others, maybe. capiche?

and yesterday i was don d'ambra. now i have a radio station blog. man, you guys just love trying to figger shit out, don't you?

if you were at the game in rockford, you know the numbers announced have no basis in reality. you're just being contrary because your feelings are hurt because an asshole made fun of your team's radio announcer. boo ********ing hoo.

and i'd rather be an asshole than a fanboy who plays dungeons and dragons, matty boy. or a radio announcer with a community college education.

I guess the Rampage can't win with this group. Their attendance is not good, so if they did nothing everyone here would complain that they should do something. Not living in Rockford, I can't speak to any other marketing going on in conjunction with the drop in ticket prices, but I don't believe that cutting the price of tickets is all they are doing. Oh, and not for nothing, but I was at the Blast vs. Rampage game in Rockford and I can tell you with absolute certainty that there were fewer people in the stands at a Blast vs Storm game I went to on a Saturday in Febuary 07 and the Storm had been around for three years by then. Many of the people that were in the stands were there because of a kids soccer tournament that took place prior to the game and did not even know there was a pro indoor soccer team until my wife and I showed up and asked them to get out of our seats. So if the Storm can continue to survive despite episodes like that, (and I hope they do for a long time), maybe the Rampage will as well.

He is also a teacher. Which means he strolls in at 8.45, reads the paper to 9.30ish, checks the union handbook to see if any new vacation time or professional days were added until 10.30, lunch from 11-2, then back to the class until 3.00 and bolts home to have the rest of the evening off.

Its the life of riley frankly. Throw in unlimited sick time and a system designed to placate the employees (teachers) not the customer (students) and pension plan that is the burden of every town and city and you've got a systemic failure.

Oh ya, summers off. Most teachers are pulling down something like 75-120bucks an hour.

Blastnut, like headhunter says, it would be one thing if they did not have an exciting team to watch - they have a lot of experienced players and I wish they were closer - I would go to their games but for them to have 5 or 600 in attendance and shelling out what they do in not just salaries but airfare as well - wow somebody is footing the bill
So it is not the Rampage team per say - it is the financial picture that we do not get
you do not see anybody making fun of the team/players
as a matter of fact I cannot believe that they have lost a game - I have a lot of respect for that team
and I have also said that I hope teams grow and flourish as I am sort of new to this sport especially in the company of a lot people here who know this game from 30 years ago
And I am sure that the players on these teams would love to be playing eachother since a lot of them have known eachother in playing with and against eachother
I think all the bad rap is part anger that there are 2 leagues and not just one - I would love to see the NISL teams and the XSL teams in one league and have no teams in trouble or making questionable financial decisions
I have a lot of repect for most people here since they have dedicated themselves to this sport for a long time and feel very passionate about its outcome - and this year feel duped or goobed
    ok - enough rambling

I actually think they had me slated as Don D'amdra when I disclosed myself as a short fat bald guy.

95 days left in the Files season and I still say they don't make it.

    Twister is a joke.

First Mariner Bank stock trading at $0.71

Monterrey also playing in the PSAL

Philadelphia's building will be demolished at the end of the season.

Wow things couldn't be better for the EHSL.

So Paul and Matt continue to bitch and say we are all piling on. Everything listed above is acurate so don't even try to dispute it or you will look even worse. The EHSL is a complete shipwreck and is taking in water fast.

And you know what is really sad padding attendance numbers like Files is doing. If you are going to lie freaking do it good. I would say Files is averaging 9,456 per game. Take that Ed Hale you are second in attendance.

    Yes and go Ravens.

For the rest of the country Ed Hale is not very well like here in Baltimore. Most of his supporters here are on his payroll.

this occurred to me yesterday, though. erich geyer is a smart guy. he knows it's likely baltimore/philadelphia in the top two. don't two and three play for the right to face one in the final? so all monterrey has to do to get to the final is beat philadelphia. the nisl's short season doesn't give geyer a lot of time and game experience for his players, so playing in the pasl-lite (however they're doing it) gives his guys more games (assuming he's playing the same guys, or the young guys, i don't know, i haven't seen a box score or anything). more reps. speeds their learning curve.

you'd think it would be an unfair advantage for monterrey to get more games outside their league. but i guess the nisl, being business-first and not having a commissioner because everyone cooperates, didn't notice.

Is there a final for the EHSL?
In a normal 5 team bracket
    5 v 4 then winner vs. 1st & 2nd vs. 3rd
    winners play on
    unless 5th gets dumped then
    1 vs. 4 & 2nd vs. 3rd
that is a typical bracket and how I run the leagues where I am
    softball - volleyball - basketball - soccer

I think they noticed, it was my understanding that Monterrey said we want to play 2 leagues - love it or leave it - and well the rest is history because they are in 2 leagues - hahahaha

Actually, it's the second place team against the third place team in a two game series, decided by golden goal if the teams split the games. The winner of that series plays the first place team in the championship game.

The fourth place team and the Twisters will not make the playoffs.
