You've covered most Americans with that plan. Just sub in some U.S. city for norwich and shift the time earlier for folk with younger kids :)

Just add in church and some type of feast or holiday dinner and thats how most Americans celebrate it.

It's already the 25th over here. 10 a.m. I have a job I have to get done today.

Merry Christmas to all of you! And, as Tiny Tom Cratchit, above, said: "God bless us, everyone!"

Nice new look to The Bay Soccer site, Tilt, keep up the good work, a good resource to keep a finger on the local soccer pulse. I think it was you I met at the San Jose Frogs vs SF Seals derby last season in San Jose: at least it was someone from your organization who was hard at work providing great coverage of the event.

Bad news about the San Francisco Seals not returning for 2009.

The upside is that I met some great people, some of whom have become lasting friends, during my involvement and support of that small but legendary club over the last couple of seasons. So the group kind of lives on insofar as we get together to check out futbol games and other soccer events around the Bay Area and beyond. It was a great way to hook up with other footie fans, as is also the case with the San Jose Earthquakes.

The advantage with a way smaller operation like a PDL or NPSL team is that, if you are gregarious, you soon get to know just about everyone involved in a meaningful way. The bigger the club or organization the more impersonal it becomes on an individual level - but hey I still love going to Earthquakes games and was a season ticket holder, probably will renew if I'm not away too frequently.

I guess now's my chance to catch some Santa Cruz Breakers matches and make them my new "minor league" side.

The Seals have disappeared and reappeared before in their history, so I hope they re-emerge when a model for financial survival (or better) can be identified. And I'm sure it's not just the money, there's a tremendous amount of work that goes into running a league team and most people have full-time jobs, creating a time crunch that can be too much to handle.

Oh, and HAPPY HOLS to one and all. See you next year.

PS: Hope the San Jose Earthquakes - Tottenham Hotspur relationship continues to flourish as well, despite the exit of Damien Comolli from the north London club.

Exciting times ahead despite the recession.

Do battle for gifts at malls, do battle in parking-lot traffic, do battle with weird family people and their weirder significant others. Then drink.

    Merry Christmas All!
