Well, I'm in Moscow changing changing flights, where they have free internet!

Sad to see we lost though... :(

It's good to know that it was close though. Oh well, win us a CL, Juande.

We went out to kick Messi out of the game and it worked. He was not injured, and I don't think he was fouled a single time in the second half, it got into his head and he mostly disappeared from the game. Also, let's not pretend that Barca didn't do the rotational fouling on CR last season. Worked for them too.

The only way to contain great players on form is by rotating help and fouling. It happened to Maradona in Italy'90, to Pele in '66, to Zidane from his very first game in Spain...

    Really good point Laudrup, repped.

For real, and most of the time it worked. Guess its really just challenging the rest of the team to step up, and today although barely, Barca did. Props to them for that. Still liked our performance, and let's all hope its just the start of our reemergance.

HAHAHA, well to be fair in the two years he managed Sevilla... he made them a lot more civilized, they actually played football. Before that, a trip to the Sanchez Pizjuan pretty much meant you were to be engaged in a hybrid battle royale type sport that combined aspects of Rugby and UFC fighting with a dash of Football.

If the team would have been this disciplined throughout the course of the season until now, we wouldn't be giving away so many games/points.

I guess that's what happens when you bring in a coach who gives a damn :p.

That is exactly what i've been thinking. I find it amusing that our boys can raise their level so high for certain games and be mediocre for the other. Why can't they motivate themselves like this for most games. If our defense had played even half as good as they played yesterday we would have surely won a few more games.

I don't really want to talk about the game. What i will say is that i really hope that the team can use this game as a spring board. I know it hurts. And players must be hurting after such a valiant display. I'm proud as hell of my boys. But what would be the point of all this bravery if next week we drop our level to getafe's or deportivo's. We need to carry on playing like this. If we do we can beat 95% of the teams in the world even with our injuries and suspensions. I'm sure of it. And with this same effort plus our injured players coming back we can handle the elite 5% of the world.

I understand that its easier to get motivated when you're facing adversity and a bit more difficult when the challenge isn't as big. But i want the lads to keep reminding themselves of the 12 point gap and all these so called "pundits" writing us off saying we're finished. Use the 12 point gap as a motivational tool every night and make it a mission to climb this mountain.

watched the game yst, i think Real played very well, they don't deserve to lose, ya, imho, :p, and we cannot give up, i have confidence in Juande Ramos, i think he is a good coach, and palanca did well, though this is the first time i see him play, he has the potential, train his speed, and physical aspects, then maybe we dun need to buy a right winger, gd chocie by ramos, we should put this match behind us and move on, ya, next match is agst valencia is it? sorrie, not much time to check, sorrie, i hope they can continue with this attitude, and kind of looking forward to the next match alr, coz i think this talented team has what it takes to do well, anyway, gtg, take care madridistas, take care, yup, =))

Co-sign. Given the midfield's obvious inability to maintain possession (75/25), I was very impressed with the play of both Metz and Salgado. Call me crazy, but given how depleted our squad was I was very proud of the way our boys performed tonight.

Did you notice their first goal when Puyol ran from deep heading towards our area. VDV was supposed to chase him but he didn't. I think JR was calling VDV to chase him but when he did it was too late.

I'm not comfortable with us playing defensively and kicking the crap out of the rival's best player, but considering the circumstances and the missing players, there wasn't another option.

In the end, the players made a great display and we showed them they have to sweat to beat us at their home. It could've gone for us with Robben on the pitch. Which is cool, but from now on it's a different story.

Now we must forget about them and concentrate on not losing any points. That way we'll surely chance. I'm reasonably optimistic because the player showed good morale and that they are on the same page that the new coach.

    About the individual performances:

-Drenthe had to deal with Messi and Alves. IMO he did quite well. But he lacks confidence and experience and it showed in that chance he had. I think this kid can still develop in a good player.

-Palanca was good, but he's another one who will need time. Juande Ramos is known for developing players, so let's be moderately hopeful here.

    -Casillas vindicated himself.

EDIT: I just realized I could've said I agree with MajorDuh 100% and saved writing all that stuff...

I thought Wenger turned Arsenal into Bolton.......or does Bolton actually win a prize from time to time?

Yes, i have seen him play with Castilla several times.

This is what i said about him yesterday in the half time:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16492273&postcount=292

He is a forward, although he plays as right winger with Castilla. He is a skilful player and he is playing a good season with Castilla, although one thing is play good with Castilla in 2ºB and another thing is to play with Real Madrid in the Camp Nou. He is a player that can be dangerous if he has spaces.

Juande has decided to play with two wingers (Drenthe, Palanca) instead to play with only one.

Considering the circumstances we played decently, but Ramos tactics was ugly and I don't want that kind of play from Real Madrid. Fouling Messi on the beginning of the games was something that bottom PL teams are usually doing not us. Also catenaccio style of play is not something you can be proud of.
When Casillas saved that penalty I was sure that we can't lose, too bad for that lucky goal from Eto'o .
The league is pretty much over I seriously doubt we can overcome 12 points deficit.

I was really surprised when I saw Palanca in the game, but he did a good job. A little bit nervous at the beginning but later in the games he had some nice runs. This kid has a potential to play for Real Madrid.

Our defense was surprisingly good, too bad our midfield couldn't hold possession to take off the pressure from the last line.

Looking forward to the next two games.

Even so, the fact that we had a tactical plan set up, and it was followed by the players for the most part.Even though i wanted Schuster to replace Capello back then, even said fact is a step up from what we've been playing for months now, which was pretty much 'go outside and do whatever the f*** you think'.

Considering our current circumstance, the team played with a lot of heart and you just can't get pissed off at them for losing. I think it was just one slip up that cost us. Anyhow, even though we're 12 points down from the top team, I still feel very optimistic to what Juande will bring to this team. As for Barcelona kudos to them, they played very well and deserved to win the match.

    Tomorrow is another day.

This is true, but catenaccio is not something Real Madrid fans are used to watch.
It's the mentality of small clubs and it's is something I don't want so see again in the next couple of years.

On the other hand I was really proud of the players. There was such much fighting spirit and passion in the game and they did the best they could.
