Mass got a new coach too. Yesterday. Sounds like he is having a positive influence on the offence and defense. Maybe the Blast will put a new spin on the Waves' infamous Kix for Kids debacle. Maybe they will put a 4 year old child in net rather than cheat her out of airline tix at halftime. Might even things up.
Sounds like Indoor Alter Ego is close to the mark on the score, of course it is only half time. Any idea about attendance?
hey bomp ,do ppl who attend a blast game and the team shutout the other team get any thing special???
Is LaPointe the coach? Attendance is about 7,000 Maybe Chubby Checker will perform at the post match concert? 6414 actual attendance
I think Lapointe is the short guy in a suit on the bench.....I think. Forget Chubby Checker..........Ed Hale has gotten Destiny's Child to sing "Bills Bills Bills" at the end of the game. Are you listening to SoccerMan on the radio or at the game?
Lapointe the coach/owner/guy-who-answers-AISL-phone is the dad. Lapointe the player is the son. The son was posting her a couple of years back too. Remember him? It was about 2 years ago when they were in the AISL and New Mexico folded.
More like NISL glorified PASL-Pro. Ed Hale clearly oversold the new league with talk of it stemming from a "procedural move". That comment is now up there with "wardrobe malfunction" and the "wide stance" defense. Ed was going to be major league, but he's got a 3 team league with 2 AISL teams and magic marker balls. Massachusetts even had the AISL logo on their uniforms (and no names). The Twisters had five quality scoring chances and only scored on a bogus shootout call. Luckily the Blast goalkeeper had already split time so neither goalkeeper would have gotten credit for a shutout anyway. The Twisters were only outscored 4-2 in the 2nd and 4th quarters, but 23-0 and outshot 25-4 in the 1st and 3rd. Don't really know what to make of that. The Twisters players seem to be trying to make the best of the situation. They kept playing and even after their starter got pulled he was giving positive advice and encouragement to his replacement. Denison Cabral didn't play and Machel Millwood only played the first half. The real goals were 13-1. Aristodemo chipped the 'keeper from past midfield while also leaping over a slide tackle. The game was just too fast for the Twisters players. They didn't have the touch to withstand any pressure from the Blast. I think the final shots were 40-16.
The game was no where near as close as the score indicates. After the first quarter the Blast essentially stopped taking shots from inside the penalty area. It was like watching a practice session, where the players take crazy shots and try to pull off "Harlem Globetrotter type" plays. If not for the Dave Kern handball penalty and the shootout goal it would have been a shutout. The goalies for Mass. were in completely over their head, the position players were slow and with the exception of Freddy Kessie they looked like they bagged it by the second quarter. Not a bad crowd but the Blast definately do better on Saturday. Maybe as an indicator of the economic times, the third level had quite a few people while seats were available on the lower level sections.
What did you get to see the script? You nailed everything except the announced attendance. If I was on the Price is Right I would submit your turnstile count as my bid. Uncanny.
Yes, I got the script and was at the game. My question to every Blast fan including myself. Would anyone pay money to watch the Blast play Twister again? My answer is no. Next time I will stay home and listen to soccer-man on the radio.
