I was listening to World Soccer Daily on Sirius today and they said there is a rumor that we have already made a deal with West Ham for Matthew Upson for 10 mil. Anyone heard anything about this? Would really be an asset to our defense also I have heard a rumor about Frank Ribery, that would be a nice addition indeed.

    Word off the boards

In talks with Buffon, more likely in the summer after their Champions League campaign is finished and he can leave his beloved club in a full and professional manner, one of Eto'o or Fabiano have been contacted and contract negotiations began, and Diarra from Portsmouth is a dead cert.

Believe what you will, thats just the rumours floating around the board - even if it does seem ridiculously out of this world. Should have a clearer idea tomorrow.

    Whichs boards Alan.

Eto'o is one that has interested me for a while, don't think Fabiano is A+ though.

Buffons agent has gone mad flipping out on the daily mail, calling them liars and idiots.

I for one Am happy that City now have more money than anyone, including The russians Rubles.

I for one am all about competition, and id love to see many teams like chelsea and pool who get by relying on 1 or 2 players to be exposed for what they are, decent quality starting XI players, overly relient on drogba and torres, who have no quality outside of said XI, and spend 100million assembling a 22man squad of 30+ yr old Internationals.

City have a young squad, good mananger, resources, great stadium and a crowd who is Hungry for success. Id love to see City knock chelsea or pool down , maybe next year though;)

http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk Way too many people around looking for their 5 minutes of fame by claiming 'exclusive inside knowledge' but one of the posters found out about the Robinho transfer hours and hours before even Sky Sports or any other news channels picked it out. I hate the rumours personally because 98% will be made up on the spot but one or two are gathering pace in the media. I'd hate to see Buffon here, I wouldn't swap Hart for anybody.

Yeah that's true. It hard to believe the rumors right now. Guess we'll just have to wait till January to see which ones are true and which ones are not.

Yeah, because Chelsea are absolute crap this year without Drogba firing .. Gee, i'd hate to have those decent international players like Lampard, Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Deco, Ballack playing for city.

Chelsea have the strongest squad in the world. That is plain for all to see.

Well how about we trade you all those "decent internationals" for one of the highest skilled players in world football

    Darius-Vasselinho.

    :D.

    For now. :D:D:D

Luis Fabiano talk is interesting, he is an amazing striker for Sevilla in Spain, which has a good pace to it, so he might not have Jo's problem. I'd still rather see David Villa, though. Santa Cruz showed last season he's quality, but with Blackburn's awful team this year, has not been given the support to get many goals... would he deliver for us or should we go all out for an absolute world class striker like Villa (arguably as good as Torres)?

Well Fabiano isn't available (seems they turned out 28mil Euro offer). Villa also seems to be off the table because Valencia got a cash injection this week too keep them afloat just a bit longer and they're trying to hold onto him as long as they can. So we probably won't get him in this window.

I like Mark Hughes' decision of not overpaying for RSC. Blackburn is asking for 20 million pounds and there's no way that RSC is worth that much. Teams are increasing the prices on us purposely known that we have the money, but we shouldn't take that. I am perfectly fine with overpaying a little above the usual price but paying 20 million for a player who's worth no more than 12 - 14 million is stupidity. We're not that desperate. I am willing to support Hughes in doing nothing during the next transfer window. It's not like we're going to Europe anyways. I'd rather see Cook and Hughes wait for the summer transfer window and see more players available at better prices.

Just had a thought... what about Adriano?

He needs to get his **** together but the guy can play no doubt... maybe Robinho's presence would help him a bit...

Agree with Lynne... Robinho doesn't really have a "presence". If Adriano needs someone to set him straight, it wouldn't be him.

As much as i love Robinho, he doesn't have "the presence".

    My Shortlist for January.

    #1 - Esteban Cambiasso - $15M.
    #2 - Phillipe Mexes - $15-$20M
    #3 - Taye Taiwo - $10M/Phillip Lahm - $15M
#4 - Anyone who is capable of holding up the ball, and also scoring - $10M - $50M.
    #5 - Breno - $20M
    #6 - Martin Laursen - $15M.

Based on our current predicament, these are the only players i would consider keeping in our 1st team.

Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, SWP, Robinho, Ireland.

Also keep in squad: Garrido, Dunne, Richards, Elano (depending on whether he starts to pull his weight), Jo, Caicedo, Sturridge, Petrov, Bojinov, Johnson. Schmiechal. The rest are not of the required quality (i may have overlooked somone though)

    That leaves us with ..

    Goalkeepers: Hart, Schmeichel
    Defenders: Zabaleta, Dunne, Richards, Garrido
    Defensive Midfielders: Kompany
    Box-to-Box Midfielders: Johnsen
    Attacking Midfielders: Ireland, SWP, Petrov
    Strikers: Robinho, Jo, Caicedo, Sturridge

The rest are either not of good enough quality, or are over the hill. That means we approximately need 10+ more "quality" players to build a winning squad.

With the 1st team looking something like

    - Hart -
    - Zabaleta - new CB - new CB - new LB
    - Kompany - new DM
    - Ireland
    - SWP - Robinho
    - new CF

The others need to show us that they want to rise to the challenge, but so many have been found wanting.

    This is getting depressing.

I like these.. assuming he can keep his head above his elbows.... Danial De Rossi from Roma would be a fine acquisition for the midfield spot to join his partner in crime Mexes....

I think the only realistic expectation is Roque Santa Cruz, who has a relationship with Mark Hughes and is going from 1 team in relegation to another. All the other players won't even sniff at us. Let's just salvage the season and stay out of relegation. Forget about even finishing top 10.

Sadly its looking that way. Micheal Turner addressed some reports connecting him to City today and he said he isn't considering leaving Hull. Shows you how bad we're looking at the moment. Its really hard for me to see who would be coming here at the moment... Maybe some young players from outside The Prem, La Liga, and Serie A? The problem is that we also need some experience, but the problem is getting some quality players with experience.

If we can stave off relegation we can build in the summer with the right manager big time. Let's just hope we can get something in January! Never thought I'd even be having the relegation thought after we got bought out.

Do u guys think anyone good will want to come play with you in the championship? Money can't buy everything.......

If you do stay up, which you should, your poor form is not going to convince many to come, no matter what you are paying.......

    I disagree with you LCF.

Money makes eye turn, and we should get whoever is "left" after the big four have taken the pick fo their transfer targets, and we should be able to snag one of the better players on offer if we offer enough money.

You say money doesn't matter, but like you would say no to changing job's if another compan offered you $130K a year, compared to say your own company offering you $60K.

Supposedly Senna is interested in coming to Manchester City.

That would be a great buy for you guys!

He is a legitimate defensive midfielder that would allow Ireland more freedom, while still keeping Kompany back in defense.
