Great pics! Tel Aviv may be red, but the country is still green!

Wow, what is wrong with Maccabi TA? They have a lot of talented players.

You might be talking about basketball because in football M. Tel-Aviv is doing really bad for a couple of years.
Yesterday it wasn't just a lost, it was disgrace. First of all you lost to Hapoel, your main rival, this is bad for the moral of the club. Second of all M. Tel-Aviv players didn't really fight, actually Hapoel were close to the 3rd goal.
I don't know something is not working with your team. investment of 70 million for nothing...

David don't worry we're not going to let you get a way...You were champions 3 years ago, our last one was 26 years ago (82/83), so guess who needs it more ;)

Can anyone give me any info on how Luis Marin of Maccabi Netanya is doing this season? I still think he should be on our national team but am not sure why he hasn't been called up.

One of our most beloved players, and one of the best defender that ever came to play in Israel.
Today he didn't play because Mattheus wanted to use a different formation, but for 3 years he missed only 2 games (injuries). We call him Superman :)
He should definitely play in Costa Rica National team, but take in consideration the fact that he doesn't get any younger (34 years old) and become a bit slow, but he have the talent and the experience so it covers it...

    Re: Ligat Ha'al 2008-2009

Maccabi Tel-aviv losing again in another derby (smaller one) against Bnei Yehuda Tel-Aviv. Maccabi Netanya didn't beat 10 players of Maccabi Petach-Tikva, and managed to miss a penalty shot. Maccabi Haifa win in Ashdod, Hapoel Tel-aviv is getting really close to the top after winning Hakoac Amidar Ramat Gan.
Next week we have 2 very interesting matches: Maccabi Tel-Aviv vs Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Haifa vs Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Should be very interesting...

The results of the 12th round:

Maccabi Netanya vs Maccabi Petach-Tikva 0-0
Hapoel Petach-Tikva vs Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona 3-0
FC Ashdod vs Maccabi Haifa 1-3
Hapoel Tel-Aviv vs Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan 3-0
    Maccabi Tel-Aviv vs Bnei Yehuda Tel-Aviv 2-3

The standing after the 11th round:

    Team, Round, Points

    1 Maccabi Haifa FC --- 12 --- 27
    2 Maccabi Netanya FC --- 12 --- 25
    3 Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC --- 12 --- 20
    4 Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC --- 12 --- 18
    5 Hapoel Petach-Tikva --- 12 --- 17
    6 FC Ashdod --- 12 --- 16
    7 Beitar Jerusalem FC --- 11 --- 15
    8 Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC --- 12 --- 13
    9 Bnei Yehuda Tel-Aviv FC --- 12 --- 12
    10 Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona FC --- 12 --- 12
    11 Bnei Sakhnin FC --- 11 --- 8
    12 Hakoah Maccabi Amidar Ramat Gan --- 12 --- 7

*** In Monday Beitar Jerusalem vs Bnei Sakhnin.

The only reason they always put this game as the central game is because the tension of this game, sort of Jews vs Arabs, even tho Sakhnin manager and couple of players are Jewish. The problem is more with Beitar fans, they're known to be right extremists. The fans would never let an Arab player to play in their team...

what an awful game maccabi tel aviv played today! their first half was just terrible.

the netanya game was a boring affair, petach tikva didnt look like they wanted to attack for most parts of the game, the penalty was also taken poorly! but what a point for petach tikva it looked like thats what they were playing for especially with 10 men.

Thanks...its great to hear that he's been doing great in Israel...i hope our coach calls him up for the qualifiers...i don't think its an age issue (one of our starting defenders in the last 4 qualifiers is also 34 years old).

Boring round, Netanya and H.Petach-Tikva ended 0-0, Mattheus was sent off by the ref after arguing with him. Beitar and M. Tel-Aviv didn't deliver and finished 0-0 as well, Ashdod and Kiryat Shmona ended tie 1-1, Bnei Yehuda and Bnei Sakhnin won...

    thanks for the link :)

After the game of Netanya ended in a tie - Haifa will also stay at the top if they will lose tonight.
But we all know that this will not happen as Hapoel Tel Aviv is going under tonight vs. the green apes :D

    You're welcome...
I can't say that I'm "crossing fingers" for Haifa, but I sure hope for a good match. On the other hand I don't want Hapoel TA too close to us. Hell I hope for a draw..:D

Matthaus, Poyet in frame for Sunderland job

Lothar Matthaus is among the big names keen on the Sunderland job.

"We've already been contacted by enough people from around the globe to know that Sunderland are a major attraction," said Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn.

The Daily Mail says two of the foreign names to have made their interest known are Felix Magath, manager of Portsmouth's UEFA Cup conquerors Wolfsburg, and Matthaus, both formerly of Bayern Munich. Matthaus is now managing in Israel.

Gus Poyet is also said to have made himself available following his removal as Juande Ramos's assistant at Tottenham.

It's possible but they are always being critisized about playing to defensive. They tend to lose points against the small teams, and got most of the points from the big clubs (2-0 vs Beitar, 2-0 vs M. Tel Aviv, draw 0-0 with M. Netanya and yesterday draw with M. Haifa).
At least this year we have more competition...

    Hi all,

I was at Maccabi Tel Aviv - Beitar last Saturday (you can find some fotos, videos and a report in German on my site http://www.baedw.de, if you are interested). Now I would like to know what the words on the big flags of the Maccabi-Fans meant. Maybe somebody can translate this for me? Thanks and best regards from Germany!

I can't really see all the flag, but I can assume that it says "Maccabi or dead"..

The banners say something like, forget about the past think about the future, sacrifice and more stuff that I can't read...

Lothar Mattheus is sent off for 2 games, and 7500 NIS fine, after saying stuff to the referee vs Hapoel Petach-Tikva last saturday.

The IFA it's just a joke. They gave M. Tel-Aviv coach Avi Nimni 1 game sent off 2 weeks ago, and he even touched the ref!! Corrupted ********s!

@FCMN: Thanks for you help. Because of the skulls on the sides, "Maccabi or dead" makes sense :)

@Schorrer Sefarad: Nice to read that someone has seen my site before.
    - As far as I have seen, there are no renovation works outside the stadium.
    - And to answer your last question: I dont like All-Seaters so much, since I prefer standing areas especially in the fan sector. But all in all I would say that Bloomfield fits perfect on Maccabi's demands - not small, but not too big, a nice main stand (with a nice roof, by the way!), and fan sectors behind the goal (and not in the corner, as we have several in Germany). And, what I really really love, are the pylons. In most modern stadiums, the lights are included in the roof. But I like those big masts, that can be seen even some kilometres away, saying "This way my friend, this is the place to be" :)

    Regards from Germany,
    Erik
