That gets a big LOL from me.

Zakora is one of the worst players I have come across in a long time. He has no redeeming qualities in my eyes at all, he just gets the ball and run with it for a bit, then hoofs it over or loses possession. Not RM quality at all, with the same going for both Bentley and Lennon, who I saw us linked with today as well.

I'm actually glad we have Pedja in charge of transfers at a time like this, he may over pay on occasion, but I think he realises who has the talent to play here and who doesn't, on the whole anyway... I hope.

I think AS and Marca are finding every possible name with any sort of link to Ramos and speculating on some interest as a result.;)

I'm guessing a few Sevilla players are not far away from being suggested.

I have a soft spot for Gareth Bale, although I am unsure how well he'd actually do here, he has potential though.

The only player at Tottenham I would really have loved to sign is Ledley King, but as I am sure you know, he has a knee condition which means he can't even train some weeks, most weeks maybe once for a few minutes only before his knee flares up again. He will most likely be forced to retire very shortly I would imagine.

You look at the performances he puts in even now, with a dodgy knee and no training, and it makes you wonder just how good he could be if he had the chance to really commit himself to the cause. Top defender.

...or so wished Arshavin when he woke up and the Zenit bus drove up the Bernabeu. This guy is basically throwing himself at any Club that doesn't start with Ze- and ends with -rsburg.

Ramos has to realise he is in charge of the biggest club in the world with almost no limitations of who he can get. Or maybe its just MARCA coming up with just another transfer story.

A bunch of different people in El Larguero last night said that Arshavin was no longer a target. One of them said Witsel is our first priority.

    Isn't Witsel a central player?

No. He's a right-footed winger. Usually plays on the left, but there's no reason he can't start on the right and then switch with Robben every once in a while.

If that is the case I would rather have Arshavin :D.

Seriously, Witsel from Standard ? This guy is playing in Belgian league and he is supposed to lift this team? Another Drenthe if you ask me, it will take him two years just to adapt to La liga. There are world between these two leagues.

There are also some rumors about Hamsik. I don't know much about him, is he a winger or a CM who can play on the right side as well ?

Any top wide player should have the ability to play on either flank, it's called versatility.

Zokora!!!!! Give me a break. That guy doesn't even have enough quality to play for spurs (with all due respect to spurs fans). And he was a commolli acqusition. It would be a mistake of epic proportions and i mean biblical proportions to sign that guy or a player of equivalent quality.

King!!!!! I know you rate him razington and you have already mentioned how he can't train most weeks and can only play a game a week due to his crocked knee. I'm sure you also know about him showing up at training drunk or getting involved in bar brawls. Putting the personality issue aside i still think that he is not the right kind of player for us. With pacy players a plenty in la liga i think he would struggle.

Bale!!!! I'd rather we give that time and attention to drenthe. He has much more potential. Even at LB.

Lennon, bentley!!!!! what the hell. Has it come to this. Sheesh.

Arshavin!!!! Well i've made my views very clear when i comes to him. He is overrated and we shouldn't touch him with a 50 foot pole. Just like the rest of the big + medium sized teams didnt in the summer. Everywhere he goes he links himself with the local team.

I think all these reports are just AS and marca cocking about. When ramos moved to spurs the english media went on a similar rampage and started linking every spanish player with spurs. Its all paper talk.

Hamisk - Now that is a player of interest. He has great potential. I don't know if he is the sort of player we need right now. But his skill and potential is undeniable.

Wasn't there a napoli CB that cannavaro had pointed out as the best coming out of italy. I forget his name. Even maldini rated him in his top 3 young defenders coming from italy. Maybe we could inquire about him seeing how metzelder will probably be on his way out and cannavaro is going to be dangerously close to the age where he can be eligible to a transfer to milan.

I like Robben on the right more than on the left actually.

I wasn't suggesting we go out and buy Ledley King, just stating my admiration for him as a player ;).

Hamsik is a very interesting player. I have seen him a few times. He is not a winger though. He is a CM in the mold of De La Red Or Sneijder. I doubt Napoli would sell him though.
The central defender from Napoli is Santacrocce. No idea on him. Again, Napoli would not sell any player now in January.

I'd go further and say that our midfield is a calamity already - with gago left isolated at DM. He cannot play the lone DM role. He needs a mascherano or a diarra to protect him and let him orchesrate the play. a gago - guti CM pairng is a joke.

A DM or box-to box CM should be our #1 overwhelming priority.

Unless you're lucky enough to be born in England, Spain or Italy you are going to start off playing in a weaker league. Your whining knows no end. Dragutinovic was signed from Standard on Sep 1 and he fit right into the best Seville of all time.

I don't care what wikipedia (FFS!) says. He's a winger.

I don't know if this is a question of semantics or football but IMO Gago plays the lone DM role extremely well...he does not need another DM alongside him.
What he does need is a little more protection in front of him in midfield and a little more support behind him from his defence.

I have no problem with Diarra in the midfield with him, but not as a second DM

Woow so you managed to find one example when a player from Belgium league succeeded in Spain:rolleyes:. First of all, what exactly are we looking for ? A young prospect who we' ll have to develop for another couple of years or somebody who can make a difference right away ?

If it's the first options I'm sure there are better talents out there, maybe some SA kid. Or some talents who are currently playing in England or Italy. Belgium league is a couple of levels below these leagues, so this kid should be first transferred to some smaller team.

If it's second he won't be even considered.

I watched Witsel when Spain played Belgium. He looks like an interesting player. He also plays in a position we need, and he's available and not Cup-tied.

Now that Diarra and De la Red will be our we should be looking for a midfielder. Perhaps Schweinsteiger? I'd have him rather than Zokora.

Like we already discussed, there are not many good options on the market.

My first choice would be Silva, but we all know it won't happen. There was also some talk about Costa who apparently can play on the wings as well. Maybe Merida of Arsenal but he played on the left side.

Maybe some young talent form Spain

After that there are also Arshavin and Di Maria, but I'm not too excited about them.

About midfielder, what about Lucho Gonzales. He could be the right man for us, although he can't play in CL. Or Xabi Alonso perhaps.
