Betis wins back the 3 points they lost last weekend at home to Deportivo. With these 3 points they are now in 13th place with 11 points. Once again the Emperor Marco Aurelio saved the day for Er Glorioso with two beautiful goals especially his second goal late in the match!!

Looks like Lolo keeps digging himself a bigger hole!! The judge who is presiding over the emblezzlement trial of Lolo has notified the Lolo and Betis Sport that the sale of Lolo's 54% of his Betis shares is temporarily suspended due to various issues with the deal. The Spanish Sports Authority (CSD) issued the temporary suspension of the deal yesterday as both parties are trying to find out how an entity like Betis Sport with only 3000 euros of capital can buy Lolo's shares, and then retain him on the board. As many Beticos have said from the beginning this is a sale with smoke and mirrors and it looks like this time Lolo got caught with is pants down!

NI LA JUEZA NI EL CSD SE CREEN A BETIS SPORT

Ya hemos podido saber qué estaba pasando para retrasar sin fecha la
supuesta venta (o pantomima) del Betis. Según un auto de la jueza
Mercedes Alaya, la que conoce del presunto delito societario de Manuel
Ruiz de Lopera, se entiende que la venta queda suspendida y que se
hace necesario conocer la relación entre Manuel Ruiz de Lopera y
algunas empresas con la citada Betis Sport. La jueza no entiende que
la fiscalía no entienda como pertinente la investigación de una
Sociedad constituida hace sólo un mes mal contando, con poco más de
3.000 euros de capital social y que después de comprar el Betis
dejaría como consejero delegado al propio Ruiz de Lopera. De hecho, es
el Consejo Superior de Deportes, al que se tiene que informar de un
cambio de manos de acciones de este calibre, el que con fecha 9 de
octubre de 2008 no autoriza esa venta hasta tener los datos precisos
sobre la composición real de Betis Sport. En realidad, unos y otros
sospechan de la teoría de la autoventa y se quieren asegurar de no ser
burlados.

Betis defense looked like crap (what's new) for first 25 minutes. Then they started to work the wings and you could see a big change in run of play. Edu from Valencia got injured and the Ches could no longer move the ball as they did. Betis came out very strong in the second half with Emana making some great runs and Sergio Garcia getting open in the box. Juanma who played like crap in the first half got the first goal for Betis from the left side of the goal. Sergio Garcia had a ball cleared off the line and then in the same play in the box was brought down by Marchena who got the red card and Emana scored the PK. With Betis up my one man they could not get the deserved goal and in a match just like the Barca match when Betis came back from 2-0 to only have Barca score the winner in the 80th minute the same thing happened as Baraja and Alibiol got inbetween Damia who couldn't cover the two players and Baraja headed the ball home to seal the victory. Pavone came on late but couldn't score the goal that would have created the tie and would have been a fair result for both teams. Betis is now in 11th place with 17 points tied with Getafe and if Racing defeats Atletico today (they are ahead 0-1) they will move down to 12th.

Here is the latest draw for the Copa del Rey. Betis will be facing Real Union de Irun which eliminated Real Madrid in the last round: Games will be played on 7 and 14 January. If Betis wins they will then face in the QF's the winner of the Mallorca-Almeria matchup. if Betis wins they will then either face one of the following teams in the Semi's; Poli Ejido/Espanyol/Atletico or Barca.

Ha tenido buena suerte el Real Betis en el sorteo de Copa del Rey, ya
que para octavos de final tendrá como rival a uno de los dos únicos
equipos de Segunda División B, el Real Unión. Aunque tampoco hay que
lanzar las campanas al vuelo, ya que el conjunto vasco viene de
eliminar al Real Madrid a doble partido. Eso sí, de esta manera el
cuadro verdiblanco ha evitado equipos como el Barcelona o Atlético
Madrid, así como el derbi ante el Sevilla, el cual no tendría lugar
hasta la final. La ida tendrá lugar el 7 de enero, y la vuelta, el
14. El partido de ida se jugará en Irún y la vuelta, en el Ruiz de
Lopera.
