See, TV shows are like beer. You can drink to get drunk, or you can drink to enjoy the hops and texture and mouthfeel and shit. Neither is wrong, but I prefer to do the latter. But I think you're wrong about Pam. Part of the reason a lot of viewers root for her is because she's not like the other Officies, because she has potential beyond the doldrums of the office. And the reason those viewers wanted her to ditch Roy for Jim is because that would be following her heart. The recent storylines have her doing the same shit with Jim that she was doing with Roy.
But the good news, and one of the many brilliant aspects of this show, is that what she wants is malleable. She doesn't have to go off and do the NYC art scene. That's not really her, anyway. I could see a final episode of this show in which Jim and Pam renovate the house after Pam's graphic design shop takes off and Jim lands a job as sales manager for the local AHL team or something. The real "success" in terms of fame and fortune would, of course, be Kevin, as Scrantonicity II lands a deal with Live Earth after their video gets 10 million downloads on YouTube.
Sigh, Beau... What she really wants is to succeed in New York, which is where real graphic designers work, and her coming back from Leverkusen just shows that she is weak and sad.
Really, you don't think Pam will reach a point where she's more comfortable with herself and ready to take on New York again? And this time, she won't go in as a completely green art school student, but a veteran of the graphic design game joining one of the top design houses in the city. Probably a 3-month freelance gig to start, but hopefully something more long term?
Let's just say I'd be VERY surprised if that happens. I just don't see Pam doing the NYC thing, but I wouldn't be bothered either way. At least she's not with Roy anymore. That said, this is one of those shows that I never really devote a whole lot of time in terms of analyzing since I watch it to make me laugh. Shame on you and Chad for bringing Landon Donovan into yet another BigSoccer thread that he did not belong in.
I didn't really believe Pam when she said she liked the house. Maybe if they sold the art studio in the garage a little more, but no one could be excited about that house.
She wasn't excited about the house, specifically. She was excited about Jim taking care of her. In Scranton. So I thought it cut two ways. It was nice that she got what she wants. It's sad that what she wants is to settle for a middle class Scranton life. It's not what she REALLY wants. But it'll do.
"sexy tie man" michael and his tj maxx tie. shout out to burlington coat factory, and the fake blood on his fur coat. notice how creed always has solitaire on his computer screen? best scene, IMO, was when michael was justifying not buying the new copier and chairs, only to have pam's chair slowly sink on him until he can barely see over her countertop. LMAO!
