    Is Guthrie good enough to take Butt's place? I don't see him being good for anything but a DM role.

    I agree Harper would have been England no. 1 if he had left. Its obvious to me that Given is marginally better than Steve though, not by much but enough to pick him to start. I would like to see Steve leave (if one of them were to) and get regular playing time... then we could have Krul on the bench.

    He played well yesterday, has a great workrate too. I think he may offer more going forward than Butt, he was scoring goals in pre-season but seems to be more restrained in the league. He has potential, DM is usually a position that favours older, more experienced players. I'd pick Guthrie over Butt to see how he does, I just don't think Nicky has the legs anymore, at least Guthrie can get about the pitch.
