I talked about this in another board, but I think now is the time to start Section80. My idea: we buy season tix in the Terrace (West Side 2nd level), sit as a group, and sing/chant/cheer in unison with those in the North End. This will be good for those who cannot stand for 90, those with small kids, those with limited resources (1/2 the price of those standing in the sweltering heat in 117/118, haha), and for watching the game, it really is one of the best views in the stadium. It is one of the best ways to help spread the love for the team and increase the Passion of the Fire fans inside TP, as well as bring more fans together with us as Ultras/Supporters/etc.

I'll buy my set on Monday morning. UNITED WE SIT!!!

edit: I am told the seats are GA. What this means is that for $99, you can sit in the shade and under cover from the rain and watch the match unfold from the middle of the field. Best viewing angles in the house.

Kozy, SixKick, ratdog, Fireman451, etc: please consider taking this deal. The Section could use dedicated fans like yourselves. No standing, cursing, banners, flags... just making noise.

You should be able to have flags and banners. Please have flags and banners.

I think we'll be able to in theory. I'm not really sure, though, since they change the rules seemingly every day. I also think a lot of 1st time visitors to Fire games who are not familiar with the supporter's culture will complain to the FO to no end, and it may cause problems. I'd hate to see any visual obstructructions restricted to 117/118. The most important thing is that we be vocal, but as far as flags and banners are concerned, we can certainly try and see how things go. I mean, S80 is pretty much everyman-for-the-Fire, so if the team allows flags and banners for the general population (prison yard reference, LOL), I dont see why those who want flags and banners can't have them if they are allowed. Marcin said it best. It's more of an expansion of the culture. We want to turn the guests and visitors (who I assume will be filling these areas) into fans, and turn the fans into supporters. Ideally, all of TP should be a "Supporter's Section."
Care to join us some time next year? :)

As an incentive to reupping your season ticket package, the FO said they would boost the racism by a solid 20% this coming season over the last three season's combined average. Also, they promised at least two completely arbitrary expulsions per match instead of this year's average of one. However, due to monetary constraints, they won't be able to "misplace" any more of our giant banners. They simply can't afford not to pay us for losing those in these difficult economic times.

As a consolation though, they are having a contest to name the holding cell in TP. The Section 8 member that gets arrested the most next year gets the cell named after him/her. Its only a one year naming license though.

As someone who sat up there and paid full price last season, I am ROYALLY PO'd about this.

The phone lines are jammed, the Fire is obviously not equipped to handle the crunch this is generating, and all I can say is if I can't get my seat back, I will NEVER attend another Chicago Fire game as long as I live. THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!

If I wanted this much trouble getting tickets, I would have stayed a Cubs fan.

Whereas I think the deal is great, it is another stupid move on the Fire FO part.

Let the cannibalizing of season ticket holders begin.

Remember when they dropped Section 8 tickets and continued the Club Seat hike? Look at the Club Seat section, it is becoming empty.

And for every one premier ticket season holder who may opt for this deal you will need to get Five more terrace seat holders to replace that person.

You make a good point, because that's a helleva a good deal Loco pointed out. There's only 15 tickets in the Terrace package instead of 20 in a full season ticket elsewhere, but those extra 5 tickets will include SuperLiga reserve games instead of the international reserve friendlies we had this year.

Plus, I'm sure I could get my hands on full price USOC games and playoff games and still come out way ahead. To your point Sting, if I decide to move to the Terrace, the FO would need to find 10 more Terrace STHs to make up for my 2 current tickets.

I do love sitting where my seats are now, and my tailgate crew all meet on the east side, but it would be a huge cost savings in an area where the view is pretty damn good. A cost savings on a team that will be coached next year by the same guy who doesn't understand Rolfe needs to play up top and thinks Herron deserves MLS playing time.

Something to think about for sure.

hey guys: I started a thread for the complaints/hoorays of the new seating and pricing. Please post them there. I started this thread for those interested in Section80, a *sitting* Supporter's Group with emphasis on audio support. Mainly for geezers like me who find it hard to stand for 90 minutes, and the boys knocking against each other like billiard balls every time I jump and stuff....
I'm not saying anyone's opinion about the FO's decision to slash the prices (last time there was slash job like this, someone ran the PCH in a white Bronco) is right or wrong, I just want the debate taken to its rightful thread. Now, if you guys have gripes/hoorays about S80, feel free to post them here (looking straight at you, SuperSting).

PS: fireman451, could you do me a favor and *please* change your nickname to "Fireman442" or "Fireman352?" No offense, and you had no idea it would ever happen the way it did, but.... the numbers 4-5- and 1 and the word "Fire" just bring out a Pavlovian response of me vomiting on my keyboard and screaming obscenities about a certain formation the Fire have employed recently.....

    :D

Being one of his east lot tailgate blokes/punching bags to him personally I'd have to agree and 'Fireman442diamondmidfield' or 'Fireman4-1-2-1-2' added to name contribution/change too.

I'll probably jump on board for these if I can actually order them over the phone. It's beyond a steal even for those like myself financially at the moment even minus the bonus games/parking. $99 that's hardly a little over $6 a game/match even if it's GA.

They took my info (name, rank, address, CC#) and said they would charge the card as soon as Ticketmaster could set up the tickets. They asked what Section I wanted. I told them 207.

Ok, so are you "up" for sitting down 90 minutes and cheering in unison with 117/118? :D

Oh yes for sure. Sitting is a wonderful 'sport'. :D

I know all the 'vocals' when it comes to s8 support.

IF I can obtain these tickets at their obscene price point over the phone tomorrow morning I WILL despite not having any bonus games involved. $99 is insane for 15 regular season games no matter where you sit at Toyota Park.

My 2006 season tickets were about $550 per seat including the parking pass and that was in 124.

EXCELLENT!!! Remember to ask for Section 207. It's General Admission. Dead center midfield.

$99 is a lot for the one game I fly to Chicago for a year, but I'll give strong consideration to sitting and making noise in the section.

Great idea. I hope it takes off.

I just bought two in section 207.

    Looking forward to the fun!

I've always thought these were the best seats in the stadium, awesome that this is happening there. This is a perfect plan for me too, just the 15 regular season games.

    Nice work Fire Front Office!

I think I am going to do this. To be honest, I've been growing a bit dissatisfied with S8, and was considering taking a season or two off anyway. So this seems like a great alternative. Plus, the price is obviously right.

Due do a unique situation, it is likely I won't be returning to section 207 next season, but I can vouch for them. They're a good bunch of guys and gals.

Anyone know how long this deal will be on the table?

I guess the consensus now is to go to 208 rather than 207. The feeling is that because it is closer to 117/118, we will be able to hear them more clearly, and be in sync with them (speed of sound waves and all that). So if anyone who had tickets in 207 last year was thinking about moving because of Supporters (not saying you, 1871), don't let that bother ya anymore.

My rep told me that it will be out there until either the sections sell out or April, whichever comes first.

I was waiting for this. After popping over to the official s8 forums for look on the situation (and better discussion) - looks like Liam has given us a nice graphic.

Even though it's really too early to come to a consensus I'll go 208 on Monday morning. I'll 'migrate' to 207 (or whatever section since it's GA) if need be on gameday. ;)

This deal at $99 is too good to pass up even if it doesn't include any open cup/friendlies/playoffs. For someone in my situation at the moment it's a godsend guaranteed at 15 home matches in 2009 by buying early.

I don't know if you can obtain a discounted parking pass by going with these. But if you can it'll cost more to park/tailgate then to attend the actual match.

I did not buy season tickets on the north end in 2006 because it was all General Admission (I had tickets for section 101). In 2007, they had changed the rules as you stated and I moved my season tickets to section 115.

I have had the first two seats in the front row every year, and because I always paid for front row seats, I wanted assigned seats. I think if my seats had been in the middle of a section, I would not have cared much if they were GA or assigned.

However, I am seriously considering moving to the new Section 207 GA seats. By the way, according to the Fire's website, the entire terrace section is going to be $99 and is going to be GA. I sat there for the NYRB thrashing (it was cold and rainy and few people were up there), I liked the view. I am not one to get up much during the game, so the lack of concessions up there does not really bother me.

Having cheap seats that are somewhat protected from the elements AND provide a terrific view of the field, not too bad.

I may miss my current seats, but for the price, the terrace seats can't be beat.

I got mine for 207 right after the NE home playoff game. Love those seats.

I'm in for a couple of tickets. So, before I call, are we set on 208? Does it really matter if it's all GA?

It's supposed to only be GA per section.

So you probably want to get the right section
