    Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

You want a league that matters? Well, hometown fans were pissed and the traitor chants were great IMO. It was agme that mattered and fans who cared. Isn't that what we all complain about?

To many view MLS as some type of rec league that is only there for the Nats.

I've said it many times, you will know when MLS has arrived in a city when the teams result becomes more important than the Nats and some feel good/be nice story.

Bake got his poorly thought out retirement thank you at the Olympics.

This ain't the olympics. This is about getting to the cup final and the fans were great.

Everyone knows Bake is a classy guy who means a lot to this country bu tlast night he was the enemy and CC fans let him know. Great job. I think you are way off bas with your "respect" remark. Way off base and we need that attitude to go away.

Look at Blanco and all the teeth gnashing and whining when he went to the Fire. He plays for that shirt and is a Fire player. Great for him and the league.

Sorry, your attitude needs to be adjusted. I hope you can understand that.

I guarantee that virtually every Crew fan has absolute respect for Bake...but not last night...

...and they were right not to. Great job. People can't whine about lack of MLS passion, tradition, fans, etc. and then get uptight about something like this. That's the game!!! The way it should be!!!

I know things with San Jose and Houston get complicated but Craig Waibel has MLS Cup rings with the Galaxy, San Jose, and Houston.

That was a great match last night. There were 15k fans but that park looked packed and the fans were very vocal. I'm happy for the Crew. I hope they win the Cup , Sigi deserves all the credit!

It's still not very classy, no matter how you try and justify it.

Bulls fan never booed Jordan when he showed up playing on another team.

Plus he didn't choose the Fire over the Crew, he chose Fulham over MLS a year ago. Then he chose Arlington Heights over Ohio, well because he grew up there. What an ass!

    McBride.
I do. It still was a less than classy thing to do.

I'm still wracked with choking sobs over Columbus supporters mocking a guy who spurned them.

What's really funny is all the fuming is coming from Grudge City FC fans.

Brian McBride. Nick comes from "Bake" McBride, a speedy outfielder who played for the Phillies the previous time they were any good.

...so you are comparing McBride with Jordan? In soccer the equivalent would be Pele. Yes, he is a loved US player but he ain't no Pele.

I'm not trying to justify anything. It's what hardcore fans do. That's the point.

I find it incredibly amusing that many don' t get this. Then again this is coddled baby like USA when it comes to soccer. Still learning to walk and understand the game at many levels.

You rationalize all you want about "percieved" slights. I am a fan of neither team but I can appreciate the passion and loyalty shown to their club team. Good for them.

This suburban youth soccer club mentality is really something that needs to be stamped out. Glad many supporters are gtting there.

There is a difference between supporting your team, heckling the other one, and actively deriding a beloved former player. I'm not saying the guy should be untouchable, but to boo his every touch?

If/when Carlos Bocanegra returns to MLS if he chooses to play in California near his family, I can promise you that you will not see Fire fans booing him like Columbus fans boo'd McBride when he returns to Toyota Park.

Columbus fans love and appreciated what McBride did for the Crew everyday up until last night. And they'll do the same everyday from here on out, in all likelihood. But last night, with everything on the line... he was the enemy. Simple as that.

I'm not going in this ridiculous circle. In one sentence you say one thing and then another. Then you rationalize to yourself like a politician and a criminal (same thing):D.

Your defense will be some varying self imposed degree of proper heckling which is absurd.

The fact that you are a Fire fan and trying to impose this arbitrary self imposed limit of heckling is even funnier. Brian found it funny when they shot him as it was happening.

Good luck with your circles and self rationaliztion.

Great job by Crew fans. Do it to my team (NY) and I will be impressed and think it's great. My feelings won't get hurt, and I'm sure the players can handle it all on their own in a classy professional way, especially US icons who are on some holy mantel...well, except John Busch that is.:p

Somebody doesn't remember 1993, I guess. I know the Phillies are associated with perpetual futility but they did make the World Series in the midst of many seasons of ineptitude.

    ...and that is soccer/competitive sport.

Again, amazed at the cocoon so many US fans live in. It's a joke really and a detriment to the game in general. It's what allows a completely average coach like BA, who made numerous mistakes and questionable decisions from 03-06 skate by like a genuis/god. Called the blind sheep cocoon syndrome that the US needs to break out of.

Contemptuous arrogance with an utter lack of any reason to be. Color me surprised that you're from New York.

I'd imagine that if Henry joined Tottenham, the response from Arsenal fans might be less than warm. Especially during his first game back in the old stomping grounds, in an absolutely huge match. Especially when he spurned a very lucrative contract offer from Arsenal not all that long ago.

Most of us understand why he went to Chicago. But last night was a war. War can be ugly.

Personally, I don't have any issues with the way that Brian McBride was treated by the Columbus fans.

Loyalty, like many things, is a two-way street. If he didn't show loyalty to Columbus when he returned to MLS, why should Columbus fans treat him any differently than any other prominent Chicago player?

Then if this is the case, why were the Houston players and fans comanding so much respect from San José fans?

It seems to me you and your Houston buddy's posted quite a bit in this thread....
