Add Nantwich Town for 14 Sep, who they drew in the FA Cup. Nantwich Town were also promoted to the Ryman Premier division through the playoffs last season.

    Prawns,

What kind of season should we expect from FC? Middle of the table or better, possible promotion playoff spot....?

Is it 12/1 for promotion or 12/1 for top spot?

Thought i'd share this one with you, you dont come across a good story on the interweb these days. a great understanding on why FCe was set-up.

    My FC United Debut.

Obviously it is well documented by many of the lads off here but as a former big critic of the whole set up and a staunchly anti FC man a couple of years ago I thought I would tell you what I thought about the whole thing.

Now first of all if you look back far enough on this forum you will see me slagging FC fans to ********, telling them to ******** off, calling them Judas etc etc. My opinion first started to thaw a little when I stumbled across some of their fans returning from some hovel in Lancashire. I had been to Bolton for something, I forget what but it just so happened that as I got on the train to come home it was packed with football fans. I'm thinking "Oh great here we go" not sure who they were and then I realised it was FC fans and I probably thought 'wankers' Anyway between Bolton and Manchester I heard United songs that I hadn't heard for years, I saw 40 and 50 year old men passionately singing about United, not FC United but Manchester United, I'll be honest I thawed out on that train that day.

From there listening to the FC lads on here and the usual complete common sense they talk has made a further impact. And so we come to todays game.

Up at 09:00 bit of breakfast and we're off to Piccadilly for the 10:37 to Buxton. My son still not really knowing where we're going "Is it like the young ones again dad?" A reference to the youth team who we have been to watch several times, and it's hard as ******** to explain who the hell we're going to watch and I'm saying "no, it's like little United" to which he replies "So it is the young players then?" "Erm, no and stop asking questions" Bustingup.gif

Piccadilly on a Saturday always ********s me off and today was no different. It ********s me off because there are always some complete no mark ********ers from some backward little place swanning around like extras out of Green Street. Today was no different, I'm not certain who they were but it was full of chavvy little ********** with bags of Stella and a bumpkin accent

Anyway platform 13 is quite impressive with I estimate 70 or 80 people waiting for the train and it pulled in with quite a lot of FC on it already, at this point I have to say nobody can tell me that this is not like going to any other away game, it had the same buzz, all like minded waiting to get on the train and invade a different town.

50 minutes or so later and we're at Buxton, Derbyshire Police are waiting making it feel even more like a normal away game and I need to go and find the Vault pub cause I know they're selling tickets in there.

I find the pub without too much trouble and buy one adult and one junior for £12 which has got to be good. The Vault was disappointingly empty except for a few old women drinking coffe and 4 ********ing Liverpool fans all in shirts, ********** were going to the game as well cause I was listening to their conversation. I asked the landlord if we were alright for a drink with me having the kid and he says 'no problem' so I settled down for a pint. A few FC fans drift in and I soon realised that Uniteds national appeal is also an FC thing as there are no manc accents except for mine, I'd guess at Chesterfield with quite a bit of 'ey up' sort of things being said, they were also talking about their experiences in Moscow so these lads obviously do both as well.

After about an hour I have had a couple of pints and as much 'eye spy' as I can stand so we go for a walk across the market ground to the Kings Head, I was aware of the mongs to my left in that other bar as we walked across, this place was obviously the Buxton pub as they seemed to get a little excited as my 9 year old with his United shirt and scarf on walked past. There is a heavy Police presence in the town centre though (by the way did anyone see that blonde pw? bananasex.gif )

Into the Kings Head which was busy with FC fans, my son liked it in here cause the Pool table was empty. Couple more pints and a few games of pool later and the young fella wants something to eat so says "Can we go back to that Vault dad? They were selling Cheese burgers" So off we go, half way across the market ground I can see it's hammered with FC outside and a lot of Police, It's been closed and it's about just after 2pm I think.

Chippy across the road so we go there and eat outside at some tables they had. Just as we're finishing the mong Buxton fans have started to walk about twenty handed towards the ground, I couldn't for one minute imagine there would be any problems with them so we just stroll down to the ground behind them, time is about twenty to three. These Buxton lads are singing Buxton songs, one runs past me and my lad and shouts "Buxton" right down my ear the ******** then carries on running to catch the others up, I shout "Wanker"

Couldn't believe what happened next really, a handful of FC are walking up on the other side of the road and this bunch of ********ing mongs start giving it a big "Munich" chant, 4 or 5 fellas well into their forties, a couple of women, 4 or 5 17 to 18 year olds but this is where my hat comes off to them they were not having it and the older fellas flew at them, Police were on it very quickly and FC reinforcements were on scene very quickly as well, this Buxton lot badly needed the Police now as more and more FC swarmed round, it seems to be compulsory to be a big bald headed ******** to follow FC and these lads wont be easily bullied I'll guarentee anybody that.

It's impossible for the adrenlin not to be pumping under those conditions, somebody said they were Stockport lads, personally I have no idea. I do know their bottle went, I would have guessed they were City symapthisers, in fact I did at first and thats what I told my lad but in the ground they were singing "Are you city in disguise" so I'm guessing not. Anyway into the ground and I'm not the best at estimating but I would hazard a guess that there was around 900 FC fans in there. The atmosphere wasn't as good as I thought it would be to be honest, sorry FC lads but from all the clips I have seen it seemed better than that, maybe it wasn't as good as usual today but that annoying little bunch of Buxton behind the goal gave as good as they got atmosphere wise in my opinion.

It really picked up in the last 10 minutes though and was very loud towards the end of the game.

The game itself? Surprisingly very enjoyable, 1st half flew by and my son never asked for his Nintendo DS thing which is pretty amazing for him. I thought FC were the better side in the 1st half and should have gone in at least 1 up. We watched it right against the wall about level with the Buxton penatly area. For the 2nd half we went round behind the Buxton goalies net. My lad loved it round there, the fact that he could reach and touch the netting seemed to really please him, kids eh? He loved the foul language and abuse being hurled at the Buxton goalie and that stupid whhhoooooaaaa you fat bastard thing that happened when he was taking a kick. He was getting called a big eared ******** and all sorts much to the delight of my young un.

Somebody shouted to him "Oi keeper you any good?" And he shouted back "Shit Hot"
I'd like to see it again but it looked very much like he should have had the goal and he got loads for saying he was 'shit hot' "You sure you didn't just mean shit you big eared ********" And that was about that, a deserved win for FC, I was impressed with the number 9 and also the centre half (Chaddy is it?) I also thought the Buxton number 2 was a good player.

Final Whistle and out we go into the town centre for the walk back to the train station. I saw a lot of the FC going in a boozer in the town centre and the young lads that had been well up for it before the game hanging round on the main street, I walked past them going to Woolworths for a drink and they were talking about where the Buxton could be, fair play to them for only 4 or 5 young lads.

Wanted to go into the boozer really I could hear songs coming out the windows but sometimes you just got to be a dad and so the half five train home for us.

I'm not ready to give up United yet and I would never miss a United game in favour of an FC game. It is surprising though how I actually really wanted them to win, you honestly cannot go and say "This is nothing to do with United" You're surrounded by hundreds of reds singing countless United songs.

Before anybody criticises them too much remember these lads are being treated as United fans wherever they go, ********** giving it Munich etc and these lads are fighting for United when they react to that, nobodies saying "We're not United leave us alone"

Two train tickets, two match tickets, 5 pints for me and 5 cokes for him, two chippy dinners, all for £50.

My son has already asked me if we can go again, and we will definitely. For any fathers out there I would say its a great way to spend the day with your kid, he now wants to move to Buxton cause he thinks its really nice round there and everyone has got a dog. The only downside was that when we got home and his mam is asking himm if he had a good day he says "Yeah it was dead good mam, there was a bit of trouble with these wankers though" She's give it "I beg your pardon" And he says "they were wankers though, dad shouted it to one of them" Yeah cheers son, I'll never hear the end of that.

I'd advise anyone that hasn't tried it to give it a go.

Big win over Ossett Town on Tuesday ... 4-nil.

    Roca with 2 and Wilson with 2 ( that's 11 in 11 :) ).

Not a bang up start, mind you, but they are getting settled in the league and they will build momentum soon.

I think he came over to England on some sought of Student/Spouse visa?
he can only play football infront of a non paying crowd seems so
stupid to me. Help him get his dream. once youve sign, click on signatures
a see some of the comments. you know it makes sense.

Thought it was time for a little update. FCe are really starting to play
some good football. Currently 10th place but only 5 points from the play offs,
With maybe 1 or 2 games in hand over some of the higher teams. Kyle Wilson
is still banging them in, currently on 14 from 14 league games. Roca also finding the net i would stay both are suitable replacements for Rory and Rudd.
Just beat Worksop Town 0-3 in the FATrophy to move within 8 more games
till Wembley:D:D its starting to gel at FCe and a play off place wont be out of
our reach, But!! can we afford another promotion? not sure really the cost of running a club in the conference jumps! and with us not having our own ground yet!!!!! all our money goes on rent etc...it wont hurt us to stay where
we are for a season or two. get the ground, start to earn on the revenue we could get! and move foward from there.

FATrophy draw was made today,FC United will play Boston United from the same league. full draw here.

FC UNITED will face Boston United in The FA Trophy third qualifying round after they beat Worksop Town 3-0 on Saturday.

A Kyle Wilson brace and a header from captain David Chadwick saw the reds set up the home clash, which will be played at Gigg Lane on Sunday, November, 23, kick-off 3pm.

Manager Karl Marginson said: "We’ve got a side in the same league, who we’ve played before. So we fancy our chances.

"They beat us back in August but, as we showed at Worksop, we’ve improved and gelled as a team since."

Senegalese midfielder Papis Djeeyte played in the Worksop game and FC’s recent home win over Ilkeston after being given international clearance to play at non-league level in England.

Dont you just love non-league. 10 goal thriller.

An amazing comeback with two goals in the last ten minutes saw FC United claw their way back from 5-2 down to five all against Cammell Laird on Wednesday night at Gigg Lane.

Eddie Jebb took the lead for the visitors on 17 minutes before Simon Carden levelled proceedings after 20 minutes. Kyle Wilson struck three minutes later for his 18th goal of the season to poke United ahead but the Merseysiders were 4-2 up by the break with goals from John Collins and two from Mark Reed.

Reed struck again 20 minutes into the second half to leave the Reds looking dead and buried. However, Wilson struck his second of the night with 20 minutes to go before Chris Baguley and Nick Robinson came off the bench to rescue a point for the hosts in the last ten minutes.

    Full report to follow.

Sweden.....all i think of is Blondes:):) cant wait.

FC United have been invited to play a friendly against an All Star team from Djurgardens IF Fotboll, commonly known as Djurgarden. The game will be played on the evening of Friday 22 May 2009 at their famous Stockholms Olympiastadion, capacity 14,000. Djurgarden are from Stockholm and play in the Allsvenskan, which is the highest league in Sweden. They’ve been champions 3 times in the 21st century and drew away to Juventus in the Champions League qualifiers in 2004.

The match is being organised by Jarnkaminerna, their fans’ organisation, which has always been inspired by English supporter culture and a lot of their members are already aware of the story behind FC United. Djurgarden are involved in many community activities, particularly working in alliance with AIK and Hammarby, the other major teams, in Stockholm to fight against potential racism and hooliganism. They are also the Swedish representative in an international partnership to share community work for which Charlton Athletic are the English participants. This game will form part of Djurgarden’s well respected community initiatives.

Djurgårdens IF is a Swedish sports club with several departments, located in Stockholm. The club is one of the biggest in Sweden.

The club was founded in 1891 by a group of young athletes living on the royal island Djurgården in central Stockholm. With an original focus on winter sports, football and athletics, the club quickly branched into other sports, becoming one of Sweden's most successful sports clubs of the 20th and 21st century.
Today the most popular departments are ice hockey and football, with 16 and 11 Swedish national championship titles respectively. Other popular departments are bandy, handball and floorball. The club has won over 380 Swedish championships until 2004.

While the club has a considerable fan base all over Sweden, the strongest concentration of Djurgården fans is arguably found in the affluent urban district of Östermalm and in many of the suburbs of the nation's capital. Formerly known as "Blue Saints", the main supporter club goes by the name of Järnkaminerna, literally "The Iron Stoves". Since 2005, Fabriken is Djurgårdens TIFO group, they have 2 Ultras groups to, UCS (Ultra caos Stockholm), and Ultras Sthlm. Djurgården also have several firms in different ages, DFG, DMG and DY. The club has two fierce rivals AIK and Hammarby IF.

Pretty exciting finish to the season with one week to go. FC United in third position but 4 teams are within a point of them, some of them have a game-in-hand. I believe there is even a way for United to win their last match and still not finish in the playoffs.

A last minute winner from Danny Williams at title chasing Ilkeston Town ensured that FC United’s promotion dreams will go down to the last game of the season next Saturday against Bradford Park Avenue.

The young substitute poked home the last-gasp winner to keep Karl Marginson’s men in the hunt for the play-off places whilst sending the travelling Red army into raptures. In an extremely tight game with very few chances, Williams scrambled the ball over the line to mean that FC United’s destiny is now in their own hands.

If the Reds beat Bradford at Gigg Lane next weekend then the season could well come down to goal difference. If all the other promotion hopefuls win their remaining games, Guiseley and Nantwich Town would join Ilkeston in the play-offs with United fighting it out with Bradford and Kendal Town for the final spot.

The West Yorkshire side have a trip to Leigh Genesis on Tuesday night and Kendal have one game left – at home to Buxton. If Kendal win and Bradford beat Leigh but lose to FC United – all three sides will finish on 74 points meaning that the final play-off place would be decided on goal difference. United currently have a goal difference of plus 24, to Bradford’s 23 and Kendal’s 21.

The victory over Ilkeston was as close as they come. United’s first attempt on goal came after 10 minutes when Jerome Wright laid the ball across goal from the left wing to Adam Tong but the big centre-back hoofed his effort over the bar from distance.

The Robins have been 1-0 specialists this season and it took them nearly 20 minutes to even threaten the United goal. Sam Duncum crossed from the left but Marc Newsham placed his header wide. Seconds later, Tunji Moses had the Reds’ best chance of the first half. Carlos Roca’s corner was headed out by a defender but the ball fell perfectly for Moses to volley it goalwards. Goalkeeper Chris Adamson had to be at his best to smother the shot out for a corner.

Ten minutes later, Roca was using his fast feet to dazzle the Ilkeston defence and he should have done better with his shot after a mesmerising run down the right wing but a lack of power made it easy for Adamson to save.

Down at the other end, Ben Pringle was looking like the liveliest threat for Ilkeston. The Robins’ number eight teed-up Duncum on the edge of the box and the forward should have made Sam Ashton work but he smashed his shot over.

The last five minutes of the first half began to be a little more stretched as both teams seemed keen to try to nick a lead to take into the interval. Roca was upended in the penalty area after Simon Carden had headed on Wright’s cross but the referee waved play on.

A minute later it was Adam Carden to the rescue as he used his pace to get back in time to thwart Pringle after it looked like the midfielder was on the verge of going one-on-one with Ashton. The stand-in right back had an exceptional game for the Reds, often acting like a sweeper to help them keep their 21st cleansheet of the season.

Into the second half and United were threatening from the off. Wright crossed from the left, Simon Carden flicked the ball on and Moses tried to place the ball in the corner but Adamson tipped it round the post.

The Reds, who were playing in their blue changed kit, began to take the game to Ilkeston but the well organised hosts were limiting the visitors to half chances. Just after the hour, a cross from Roca was headed out and Nicky Platt was unfortunate to see an acrobatic scissors kick sail over the bar.

Both sides made changes with Williams, David Chadwick and Jamie Baguley all coming on for United in the last half hour in place of Moses, Phil Marsh and Simon Carden. Chaddy partnered Williams up front in a bid to force the winner and even Tong joined the attack for large spells.

As United piled forward, gaps inevitably began to open up at the back. Ilkeston were also desperate to win the game to keep their title hopes alive and Anthony Church was dismayed to see his back post header go wide after being sent up by Duncum.

With just under 20 minutes to go, Robins substitute Tom Cahill could and possibly should have won it. A goalmouth scramble developed and the number 14 found the ball at his feet, he fired his shot goalwards but Ashton produced a superb point-blank save to keep United in the game.

Karl Marginson’s side were throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Ilkeston. Roca sent a teasing cross into the area and a panicky Adamson punched the ball over his bar for a corner after coming under pressure from Williams. The signs were there that a goal might be coming but even the most optimistic United fans were surely beginning to wonder whether it was too little, too late.

Then, with 89 minutes up on the clock, Roca took the ball out to the left midway through Ilkeston’s half. The winger crossed into the box and Chadwick flicked the ball on to the back post. Tong was up in support and he managed to shield the ball from Pringle before flashing it low across the six yard area.

Chadwick prodded the ball goalwards but Robins’ captain Simon Weaver dived in desperately to deflect the ball away to the left post. Williams was there and shot first time with his right foot but this time Simon Harrison as there blocking. Despite that though, the ball fell invitingly for Williams on his left and he fired a shot across goal. After what seemed like an eternity – the ball sneaked in at the back post sparking sensational scenes around the New Manor Ground.
