For all his talk about 'beautiful football', Wenger is as conservative as they come. To add to that, he eternally shoots himself in the foot with decisions that make sense ONLY TO HIM.
I wonder what Pat Rice and Primowhatever are doing in that team considering that for 4 years now, we're playing piddly-cakes.

    LOL Arsene!

Ok, actually, I'd agree with you then...I misunderstood and thought you were suggesting more route 1 type of play where we just lump the ball forward. I would definitely agree that we don't counter quickly anymore and that the "runners/dribblers" you mentioned are in desperate need.

Wenger is drinking too much of his own kool aid. He is too stubborn in his ways. This team really only needed 2-3 players to contest for the title. Sadly a few of those players were players we sold. Instead of fixing known problems our problems have gotten worse.

And at this rate Cesc will not be here much longer and other quality players will leave. Wenger needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat in January or else we will not be in the top 4 at the end of the season.

    Sadness.

    :(

Might not be as bad a thing as I once thought it would be. Would make for an interesting discussion though. If he leaves at the end of next year, then yes, but once Ramsey gets ready, I think we will be stronger, funnily. Anyway, for another topic.

what? i dont really think we will get stronger if fab leaves and ramsey becomes a reg. we need to get some ********ing experience in our squad! stop getting 8 year olds and but some golden oldies! 23, 24+ players, a few of those wouldnt hurt.

i agree. we have to have one of the fastest teams in the league and rarely exploit it with quick counters or wing play. it makes sense to play team deeper in our half of the field because these bottom-dwellers are going to pack it in, taking as few chances as possible, and that should come as no surprise to the manager. also, when the opposition does do this our plan b needs to include at least some crossing to the big men up front. i remember last summer watching the copa america with argentina and brazil. argentina looked so dominant that they wouldn't be touched in the final game, but brazil simply fouled them in the middle third of the field and played some long balls cross field to simply destroy the argentine midfield and possession game. in the end, it was a pretty big upset, at least as much of an upset as a brazilian win can be.

Seems much of our tradition literally has gone south.

Wenger turned 59 last week but looks older than that. The board needs to start thinking about a successor, if they haven't already. There are older managers in the league, such as 'Aarry, but I can't see Wenger going on as long as SAF, who will be 67 in December.

Arsene Wenger has got be one of the most arrogant managers we have ever had.

I've been criticising him since 2002 but keep getting flamed by me fellow fans.

I used to watch Wengers Monaco side in the late 80's -90's and he did the same thing there. He started of well buying and working with the existing experienced players such as Glenn Hoddle, Jurgen Klinsmann & Manuel Amoros and guess what he won titles.

After the first few years the experienced players moved on or they retired. He then resorted to the youths and tried to play champagne football with a team of boys. He also played people out of position countless times.
What happened is that because of Wengers insistence of not bringing in proven players the team declined and Marseille came on the scene. He was then sacked and exiled to Japan where Arsenal found him a few years later.

Since we lost the last remaining members of George Grahams side ie Parlour, Keown, Adams. Plus the players he brought in early on Pires, Vieira, Henry. We have not won anything.

I'm tired of Wenger pursuing his own agenda with our team. We used to be a team that was feared with our solid back four and battling midfielders complimented by gifted attackers but now we are a laughing stock.

He has been a great servant but everything has to end. I'm afraid that Wenger is holding us back now (I can't remember one Arsenal team in the past 20 years that would have lost to Stoke, Hull and conceded 2 goals to Spurs in injury time

gallas is a twat and not worthy of being a captain

That's an interesting post. I had heard of it somewhere else that AW miserably failed with a similar youth policy at Monaco. Hmmm, could be that he's trying to live out an unfulfilled dream. Pity that the board have their noses so far up his **! Irrespective of whoever it is, that's not good management. And what is their succession plan?

We need to plug the gaping hole in our midfield, get a decent ball winning CB to play alongside Gallas, who I believe is far superior to Toure if both are on form and a solid top 4 keeper and we're set to dominate.

And Rossicky needs to get fit :)

Will Wenger do it? WHO Knows!
